Aesthetically, I'd say it stomps FFXV in shear grandeur and design alone. I'm at Chapter 4 in FFXV and there's not a single environment I looked at and thought "wow" whereas by 8 hours in to FF13 I'd thought that numerous times

FF13 was pretty good tbqhwyfam. I liked how the party was a bunch of assholes to each other and only together out of necessity, not because they were buddies.

Just remember, everyone: reviews only count when they're negative (otherwise they're paid for), and anything below a 9 is a crushing failure.

Also, stop trying to push the "XIII is good now" maymay. It's just as bad as it was a month ago.

Because averaging them makes no sense. The game could have a 10/10 story and 4/10 in everything else and averaging would bump up those scores unjustly.

2. As everyone says a billion times, each game is graded on its own and can't be compared to other games as better or worse based on review score alone

3. These are high, above-average scores as much as you don't want it to be true

There is no good JRPG period. Not even baiting. It's bizarre seeing people praise JRPG's and forgive all their sins that always gets pointed out in western games.

They try to "redefine" the genre in each iteration. To be fair they've been doing that since FFIV onwards, and those are arguably the best sequence of games up until FFX, FFXII onwards, FF games were vastly different and generated mixed reactions, dunno.

DQ keeps things simple and stay quite the same while FF changes its formula game to game usually with a similar structure and themes but, since this past decade not so much.

Too much talk about bromance, it's like that's the only good thing about the game. People are just buying a bromance simulator+cooking mama+fishing simulator and with a gameplay when you are god just by pressing a button (avoiding and parrying everything) and QTE gameplay shit. XIII isn't shit for technical reasons.
It's a failure on design and direction. Superman64 was a mess on all levels, but two wrongs doesn't make a right, if anything that isn't worse than Sups64 can't be criticized for the piece of shit it is, than please, be my guest to praise every game that isn't ET. XIII was a fucking mess and nothing will change that.

Because Dragon Quest isn't trying to be innovative with every release. It has spinoffs that allow the series to try something new, but the main games are always pretty consistent and focus on the player having fun above all else.
