>gaming is dying
How is Pokemon the literal one exception?
Gaming is dying
It's Pokemon
>literal
Has there been a single other franchise that has been able to sell over 10 million units every single time for 20 fucking years?
Tetris?
Pokemon is equally as popular with autistic boys and attention seeking slores (girls)
You fail to understand how many times tetris was released. It does well but not 5 million every time well.
>Pokemon Go wont do anything to help Sun/Moon sales! Casual faggots arent going to spend money to play the games when they have a free version on their phones!
Sup Forums btfo as usuall
that's a lot of autistic boys
>People who like things I dislikes are all bad people I can insult for free
you are the autistic retard there if you can't tolerate such minor things in your life.
Popularity begets popularity. People see their friends playing it and want to play it too.
The games don't deviate too much from the formula and also improve with each new entry (for the most part).
It gets very good marketing, having a popular anime series airing on children's networks in the morning. It also has a lot of really neat attention grabbing designs, and it has a mascot that everyone knows (Pikachu). Its also worth noting that most recently, Pokemon Go helped bring in people who were nostalgic for Pokemon and the X/Y anime is the best the anime has ever been.
what?
>the best anime there has ever been
WEW that's a spicy post you got there.
Even the worst Pokémon games are good
If you weren't autistic you would just pretend every pokemone player is something you hate just because you didn't buy it yourself.
He said it's the best the Pokemon anime has ever been, and he's not wrong.
Best animation
Best characterization
Best girl
Because Pokemon knows how to delay production of a game long enough to add some cool or silly shit into it and then release it as basically the same exact game, but not soon enough that everyone gets sick of it.
It also helps that Pokemon games at release are usually $10 cheaper than everything else.
When did I say every?
Uber butthurt pokefag.
>Yokai Watch is killing Pokemon guys!
This has been a wild year for Sup Forums getting continually and bi weekly BTFO
The Pokemon anime was never as good as it was in X/Y. Even the original first few seasons, as good as they were, had really poor simplistic animation during battles. It didn't have nearly as much of a budget as it did in X/Y. The series from Ash's adventures in Hoenn all the way through Black/White had poor writing. Black/White in particular especially suffered this, where Ash was an idiot.
Also I just realized that you thought I said "the best anime there has ever been". I said "the best THE anime has ever been". As in, the Pokemon anime at its best was X/Y. I'm not saying its the best anime ever made. There are plenty of better shows.
Oh, another NintendoGaf raid.
>gaming is dying
Wasn't No Man's Sky the highest selling digital game on PSN ever? As shit as it was, that's still something.
how is the sun and moon anime
I'm thinking about watching it because I like the cast and setting from playing the game
Its a good game
The lightning in a bottle that was weekday morning cartoons and a marketing campaign in the fall of 1998 can't ever happen again thanks to various children's television laws on public broadcast stations.
I thought Black and White started pretty strong for the few couple episodes
Harsh truth general
inb4 someone tries to argue that Pokemon doesnt sell well compared to mobile games so its a flop
Grand Theft Auto
First one only sold 1m, but from 3 on, it's like 5m+ for even expansions and portable
The best "the" anime has ever been. Learn to read.
...
They started strong then right when it was going to get good the tsunami happened and they cancelled a whole Rocket vs Plasma arc and put Team Rocket back in their familiar clothes.
Time to crawl back in your MediaCreate thread shithole faggot
Seriously, what? I fucking love Pokemon, but I know it attracts aspies and attention whores. Please fuck off to your respective website
holy shit are we getting back to RBY levels of sales?
Because Pokémon GO made it a social thing - especially as far as entertainment goes, anything social gets tons of support as long as the brand isn't out to screw people over.
The same reason that Nintendo will hang on for dear life instead of outright dying. Their old brands still have such residual power (hell, look at Sonic) that it creates just enough buzz to get them by.
Looking good so far the characters are charismatic, voice acting is good (jap), the waifus are great and the animation is solid.
Did they fix the postgame/lack of content problem?
Gens III-V was the pinnacle of the series
D O G A R S
DOGARS
The whole game is one big story. Postgame is hosted in several cities across the country with a $15 entry fee.
There's a fair bit of post content, but no where near as huge as B2W2.
But that's correct.
All the normies I know who wouldn't shut up about Pokemon Go looked at me like I'm from a different planet when I brought up Pokemon Sun and Moon.
It's not just that they don't care, they don't even know.
Sun/Moon has shitloads of content in its main campaign, probably being the longest campaign the series has ever had. But its post-game is mostly just battling legendaries and ultra-beasts. Its lacking in that regard.
Sup Forums doesn't understand how games work anymore
Physical and full length console games are contracting. Free to play games and puzzle games on phones are expanding.
But Pokemon Sun/Moon isn't free to play, isn't on phones, and isn't a puzzle game.
Imagine a well made 3d pokemon on console.
But no Nintendo hates money
Mobile game, essentially, and girl "gamers" "love" Pokemon.
He said twenty years tho, which won't be valid until like 2021
Not to mention GTA took until 3 (There was a GTA, GTA 2 and a GTA London before that) to start selling like fucking crazy.
Meanwhile, Pokemon by some weird nip magic has routinely sold over 10+ mil copies per generation since the fucking start in '96
Seriously, how the fuck is that even possible
...
Rumors are that the Switch will have a third version of Sun/Moon called Stars. The Switch having a 720p screen and being a console/handheld hybrid likely means your dream will come true.
Also it already came true with Colosseum and XD a while back.
Yes, yes very good GF
However,
I think it's Game Freak who panics at the thought of that. I believe they are finally doing it on Switch though.
Pokemon Go and Pokemon Shuffle fill those gaps.
People only buy Nintendo handhelds for Pokemon
Its a shame since the games are made with minimum effort where good 3ds
games are left to die
>the worst gen has the most sales
but user, pokemon is dying too
>that one digifag that kept saying SM was going to flop
he's probably flopping at the end of a noose right now lmao
I'm done with the series until a gen comes out that doesn't have a bunch of silly bullshit hoops to jump through, after completing the game, because of IVs.
- Effort value number still isn't displayed for easy tracking
- IV value as a number still isn't displayed, IV calcs are still a thing players have to use
- IVs in general are boring and pointless fluff, and a chore outside of the singleplayer game
- Creating massive egg farms to create a single pokemon with the IVs you want is an insane ask when the roster has well over 500 fully evolved pokemon
- GF introduces a cap item that "simulates" a max IV value for one stat, yet is an extremely rare item and can only be used on lvl100 pokemon
- At the same time, GF makes it more a chore to level cap pokemon compared to genVI
After genVI IV bullshit for online/competitive play, I'm done with it. If I play this shit, I'm going to get through the game, want to go online and have some real challenging battles, or even just climb whatever is the new battle tower, and I'll be right back to marching around hatching eggs for IV values. No thank you, that bullshit is boring as fuck and adds zero depth to battling; you either have them all capped, or you have them all capped with your Spe IV at 0 for trick room teams.
>IVs don't even matter that much
It's a 31 point stat difference per stat, and there's no opportunity cost as with EVs and move sets, you just have them all at 31 or you go hatch more eggs. You're effectively missing a ~15% boost to each stat.
It sounded good when the cap item seemed to be an alternate method to get IV caps, but GF is just pushing the same shitty egg hatching "gameplay" for IV values; so they can fuck right off.
no one cares
I really want to get into SMT but I cannot get over how boring the dungeons and how retarded the story is
>competitive pokemon
Oh man that's fucking sad on another level
>Seriously, how the fuck is that even possible
Strong marketing, quality games, unique idea. Mario games sell well, too. When people know what they get they know they can buy them and enjoy them. There's no, "Is this worth my money?" question because they already know the answer.
...
I bought mine for EO, SMT, and Kirby but Pokemon is pretty fun. I wish more people got the former games though, I can never find anyone to talk about them with, SMT threads die quick and EO general is dead waifuposting.
Theres like over a dozen of them
5 on the 3ds alone
Just stop being a baby
If Pokemon Stars hadn't leaked, I wonder if there would have been even more sales?
>yokai watch will kill pokemon they said
>meanwhile SM is going to be the best selling entry in years and YW is dying in Japan
>The lightning in a bottle that was weekday morning cartoons and a marketing campaign in the fall of 1998 can't ever happen again thanks to various children's television laws on public broadcast stations.
Very, very true
Because it's got literally everything.
>Simple Gameplay with extra layers for the competitive crowd
>Badass designs and cutesy designs
>Simple plots with a fuckton of extra lore for every single Pokemon and region
>despite what Sup Forums will admit, solid designs, there's always a handful of Pokemon you have to begrudingly admit are cool for all the shitters
>Fighting, Trading and Collecting
>Extraneous shit like contests, and minigames
>Colorful character designs
>Bishe boys for the ladies and waifus of all stripes for the guys
>There are people who will shitpost that pokemon is dead
>Newest game makes record breaking sales
HOLY SHIT MY SIDES
i love idol shit and that webm alone almost made me pick up pokemon
>literally the only thing to do after finishing the game is battle tower and online play
>"no one cares"
It's faggots like you that keep GF pumping out this bullshit.
EO is good. P5 delay probably fucked EOV to the end of 2017. I'm tempted to just finish the Japanese copy at this point.
Pokemon Go is is free, though. And doesn't require proprietary hardware.
Pokemon has had 30 years of building its fanbase. Gamefreak can put out literal shit on a stick (aka SM) and people would still buy it.
Yeah you probably should if you can, the wait is killing me but I'm a pathetic EOP for EOV and I want the physical copy's bonus materials.
I'm guessing they stuck to the formula. If it was a home console game I'd probably get it. I don't like handhelds though, and certainly not the absolute monstrosities we get these days.
Well good news, the Switch is getting the special Yellow/Emerald/Platinum version
ORAS*
What? Explain, because that's exactly what's going on in the industry. Look at Pokémon, Sonic Boom, TMNT. And plenty of old shows failed - Freakazoid, Cowboys of Moo Mesa, Mega Man, Street Sharks, etc.
Am I missing something?
Doesn't matter. People will want to keep those social connections going, and if that continued bonding happens over Pokémon products, that's all that more profitable.
