Never played one of these. Which one is a good starter? (I only have a 3DS, so sadly no gba)

play them in order.
You can play pretty much any of them, Dual Strike is the easiest in the series due to how much you can abuse CO combos. Days of Ruin is like the FUCK YOU May Cry of the series, but it's not bad. It's just a completely different timeline.
You can emulate the GBA games easily if that's your problem, they're all great
>Days of Ruin is like the FUCK YOU May Cry of the series
If you don't play AW1 first it's going to feel really dated if you were to go back to it.
Not that you would be missing out on anything. I suggest starting with 2 or DS.
>so sadly no gba
>what are emulators
This, literally any smartphone made after 2013 is perfectly capable of emulating GBA.
2 is best.
DS is okay
Days of Ruin is better than DS but it gets rid of the old characters.

This. They balanced the units a bit especially the ships. The downside is fewer CO with kinda shitty passives except the doc. Fuck him
AT guns are nice, too.
Penny was my favorite.
>play the first game
>be having a pretty good time
>get to Yellow Comet territory
>the first battle [where there's a chokepoint and two bridges you have to hold wrecks me completely
Kambei is scary
This user nails it perfectly. That said, play all of the games.
Remember this meme?
Literally a casual filter
I remember it was the first hurdle of the game when I played as a kid
also the CO powers aren't as interesting in DoR, and there's a handful of COs with straight-up broken ones
Two CO powers are broken, one of them belongs to the final boss of the game and the other isn't even a CO in the story.
Caulder, Forsythe, Tabitha?
Are you forgetting best character?
Man, I used to love playing DS and abusing the fuck out of Eagle/Sami's CO powers against my friends. It was cheap as fuck, but still pretty fun.
If it helps, 2 (the best one) and DS are on the WiiU Virtual Console Store.
user, the 3ds has a gba emulator
Forsythe doesn't even have a power. His CO zone is good from the get go but it doesn't even increase over time, and the bonus is just 20% total.
Tabitha is very hard to use properly. You have to let her survive for at least two full turns while actively attacking enemy units to launch her nuke.
>tfw there's a dimension where Wars survived to be a big hit, and Fire Emblem died quietly.
Oh, I was talking zones/powers in general, not just the activatable.
any of the Battalion Wars games good?
