Dark Souls III

When it came out everyone called if Dark Straight Swords III because every other weapon is too slow.
However I got the game a week back and noticed in the patch notes "Improved animations on [pretty much every weapon category]". Were other weapons made significantly faster? A Claymore feels pretty fast to me so are non Straight Swords finally viable now?

All greatswords got the everliving shit buffed outta them. The onehanded swings so much faster, and twohanded also is a few frames faster.
Also hyperarmor

The only ones that bitched about straight swords were shit players that didn't learn how the game worked

the problem is/was that everything does about the same damage so there's no real reason to use anything other than small fast weapons. they've nerfed the dark sword, the estoc, and the carthus curved sword now, but there's still no real reason to use great weapons, ever.

It's Straight Sword: The Game. Worst variety of weapons ever and there is ZERO reason to use anything besides a straight sword since it's objectively the best.

well the variety and amount of weapons is pretty damn sweet. the problem is most of them are useless lol

going back to das1 after das3 really made me appreciate the game's weapon balance a whole lot more. it's amazing how they got that down so fucking well in das1, it's probably not easy to do that. then in das3 they totally yolo'd it. too bad.

It's not bitching about straight swords, it's bitching about literally other weapon type being useless.

Recently did an UGS/Quakestone hammer playthrough and it really felt better compared to the launch, where I hated every single second of my Greatsword

OP here, that's the thing though. 1.08 patch notes say they buffed poise and heavy builds and improved other weapon category animations a lot.

I know your statement is true for launch DaS II but is it true now?

"buffed poise" means something more like they made poise have some sort of effect on hyperarmor, and fast weapons are still almost always better than a slow weapon. the only real change i think is how much better greatswords are.

Stop sperging for no reason retard. The difference is you could use all weapons just fine in DaS1 and different weapon types had their own strengths and weaknesses. Meanwhile in DaS3 using a greatsword is absolute horse shit compared to using a straight sword.

you say that but I'm killing everyone I run across with my halberd, rapier, and claymore....

Great swords are also great for catching someone that's rolling which is basically everyone since if you look at them funny they roll away to drink estus
