What games do this

Might & Magic
Elder Scrolls to an extent

nier
dragons dogma was going to do this

Star Ocean 3.

Phantasy Star
Shining Force
Thief

Those are ones I can think of.

Utawaremono

>Phantasy star
>ever pretending to be fantasy
u wot m8

also might and magic did it best.

Asura's Wrath

Wizardry.

Wizardry sucking hard.

WoW

>dragons dogma was going to do this

How so?

>dragons dogma was going to do this

Having a moon tower doesn't make it sci fi plenty of fantasy shit has space stuff

You were supposed to go to the moon but that doesn't make it science fiction if the explanation is magical in nature

FF1

Xenoblade Chronicles
NieR
Splatoon
Shin Megami Tensei
Etrian Odyssey
Xenogears
Star Ocean
Assassin's Creed

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Xenoblade Chronicles

the opening fucking cutscene is a battle against mechs

>Xenoblade Chronicles
You fight fucking robots throughout the entire story.
>NieR
The opening is in a modern city.
>Splatoon
This is sci-fi!

I don't think I'm going to read any more.

The Longest Journey except it's reversed.

keep going it only gets worse

>game is sci-fi
>it was fantasy all along

>How so?
At the end, when you beat the dragon, it claims that his legacy will live on with his wingless descendants. The Dinosaurs.

After the credits,
you see Regina blowing the fuck of the lizards with a shotgun and the title-card for the long-awaited Dino crisis appears.

>sci-fi game
>turns into a fantasy game until it's actually revealed to actually be a sci-fi game

one

game

I unironically liked all the Animus and modern-day AND ancient aliens stuff in Ass Creed

They were originally trying to keep it all under wraps before the first game came out. Would've been fun to see the shitstorm that caused.

That describes pretty much every modern sci-fi franchise.

Not him but

Xenogears

Star Ocean 2?

...

...

Blu-Rays fucking when goddamn it?

Endless Legend.

TES is about a universe with a negative universe being dreamt in a sleeping gods mind with the gods becoming planets and also by the fifth era basically ever race goes to space and khajiits were on the moon and also numidium is a giant fucking mech powered by the heart of god that was so strong it caused all of a race except for one fatass with spider legs to escape the dream and disappear from existing

Soon.

Other than The book of the new sun and that one iPhone game I can't think of a single piece of fiction that does this

is he /ourguy/, Sup Forums?

...

Why was he bleeding so much in the bay in the first place? Why was he missing arms? Did he get rekt by another Kaiju and then run into Tokyo to heal?

Stella glow
Lost Odyssey
Drakengard 3
Tales of Graces

Those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head.

Blood acted as a coolant. No, he was constantly evolving throughout the film, including right before he was frozen.

She was the best character but what the hell is wrong with this movie? The cutting and transitioning to new scenes are so sudden. And I'm getting neon genesis vibes.
But it was a fun Anno film.

>The cutting and transitioning to new scenes are so sudden

Anno being Anno.

creepy cute fully realized!

>Victorian Van Hellsing werewolf hunter game
>It was actually cosmic horror all along

>tfw missing 20 minutes of footage

Fuck, Shin Godzilla was god-tier.

What is magic but a technology we can't understand?

...

Pretty much everything you could ever want from a Kaiju movie. I hope Pacific Rim 2 is as good.

bloodborne

#I'mWithHer

>Pacific Rim 2
It'll be more shit than the first one.

Chrono Cross

nightmare house 2

Clearly the best character,
and the worst goes to the Japanese American with her cringey Engrish.

Fuck it, where's the torrent at? I need to see the breath scene again.

I didn't catch it in theaters, but I suspect what's online is an earlier cut, wouldn't surprise me if some of the cg gets worked on for the bluray, and some of the NGE music they used gets replaced

>Fantasy
>Psyche! It's Sci-Fi!
>Psyche! It is Fantasy, actually!

This, for fuck's sake

jap voice actors > english voice actors >>>>>>>> any time japanese media has an english speaking character

...

Decisive Battle was used and remixed like 5 times even in the theater version

fuck you, Japs speaking English is charming

This won't be yuri will it? It'll either be futa or have some black faced man thrown in. Why do they do this? Why do they do covers which imply yuri and then throw that shit into the bin.

Decisive Battle makes up about 1/3 of the OST

It's more like fantasy that is actually sci fi that is ACTUALLY fantasy.

well fuck me, live action NGE prequel it is then.

What was up with his tail in the final shot?

Were they the beasts inside the Eva units?

>implying that the Japanese are better than Americans at anything

Payback time

They were both cute.

I saw the movie in theatres on a whim on the last day it was in the states and I was not disappointed
Also the CG really is dogshit in some places, but in others, its incredibly believable. The destruction of the city was so good

they're better at killing themselves

Might and Magic in a way that probably would have been helped if those games weren't coded on the equivalent of pasta, glue and paper for the time. Demons just being really fucking scary aliens attacking a High Fantasy world was actually a pretty cool twist.

Giant God(zilla) Warriors!

Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles. Okay, so that's not a video game, but either way. It's the most notable new example. Even if fans of the series should have checked out after The Vampire Lestat.

If it's just a sentence or two from a japanese person it's fine. But the american army guys in shin godzilla had some pretty cringey dialogue because they were basically speaking anime dialogue that was directly translated to english instead of talking like actual americans. Also the engrish speaking jap woman was supposed to be born and raised in america so it was kind of immersion breaking.

>they just HAD to make ShinGoji .5 meters taller than Legendary's.

>yellow skinned people lie on the cover to trick you into buying something
Yep, it checks out

>sci fi game
>it was fantasy all along

...

>I wourd purfur if we keprt our conversations in engrish
Jesus why. Even the actress said she had trouble with the English speaking, enough so that she wanted to cry

Bastards.

>google source
>only result is a /m/ thread

Fuck sake user, you bastard.

At least they drew blood. Meanwhile some autismo jap figured out how Godzilla would fuck shit up years ago and decided to keep it to himself for a while.

Lol they aren't taking out Decisive Battle, it fits the movie pretty well.

does the Jak series count?

It just didn't need to play 7 times in it.

>and decided to keep it to himself for a while.
I thought he was considered a radical and that nobody would believe him so he didn't even bother trying

EDF 2025

So was he trying to make hunter/godzilla hybrids or something at the end?

Yeah, probably. I'm just poking fun at the movie's expense. His revelation of research was mportant in testing the world's resove against nuclear weapon use so it mattered that he kept it under wraps thematically as well.

both of them were fucking shit

their clear cut stereotypes belong in jap cartoons not in live movies. anno should stick to his medium, cause he clearly has no fucking idea how to make movies

Please calm down.

no

i'm literally shaking right now

Name a more tragic character then Heisei Godzilla

TES is still fantasy it's just so off the fucking wall crazy fantasy that it has some aspects of sci fi rolled into it.
What keeps it from being sci fi though is that sci fi is supposed to be based in science or at the very least make some kind of sense.

>mfw dat Atomic Breath scene

>That one player focusing on health, armor and magic powers and being the dominate player in the match.
youtube.com/watch?v=bf3nOdKL_Sg

When you look at the whole scope of the Heisei movies I can understand why some complain they are too serious.
But it leaves a strong impression in your mind.

> everybody in my showing went deathly quiet

I think that scene was a great example of the difference in mindset of Godzilla's audiences. International audiences don't take kaiju films seriously so they think the breath scenes are supposed to be emotionally satisfying.
