>DUDE TIME TRAVELING LMAO
I just finshed 13 and I actually enjoyed it but this is fucking ridiculous. I'm about to kill the dragon in the hunting fields please tell me this shit is almost over. I have no idea how you from a story about crystals to FUCKING TIMETRAVEL.

at least the gameplay is great
lol
Get better taste. XIII-2 is regarded as an improvement over the first one. Even the story makes more sense.
I didnt mind it in 13 but the monster shit in 2 is also retarded and is starting to make me hate it because I need to worry about my VERY LIMITED paradigmn slots.
Its dull as fucking shit.
If it was, then the game would have been bought more. FF13 is considered the best of the three.
Hello, CTR. You're in the wrong board.
Who the fuck is CTR? FF13 is considered the best of the three.
I was told Lighting returns is the best of the 3 because gameplay was better .
noel is such a shit character that they actually had caim impale himself on noels sword to keep noels hands clean, but make him feel the weight of the kill.
PFFT.. XIII-2 was one of the best games of last generation. XIII was feces riddled garbage. Jesus christ how fucking retarded can you be ?
>>DUDE I MADE THE FUTURE WORSE BY TRAVELING BACK LMAO
I played LRs more than the first two games combined.
No, FF13 is considered one of the best PS3 games in Japan from Famitsu's recent reader's poll. FF13-2 was NOWHERE near that.
So? FF13 is still considered the best of the three.
Just wait until Sera Farron dies
at least the soundtrack is tight as fuck
everyone knows Famitsu and it's readers opinions don't matter. Stop.
dude, don't just throw away the argument just because you can't rebuttal it.
>13 is bad because too on-the-rails
>13-2 changes this by allowing the player much more freedom about what they do and when they do it
>people still hate it
Let's face it, the real reason people don't like these games is the stupid characters and story
No, it's because a vocal minority didn't like the fact that it didn't play on their nostalgia and bashed it for that.
FF13 was liked by the grand majority of people and that's why it was sucessful the way it was.
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN RIDE THIS CHOCOBO
I don't care at all for rock, so I can't agree.
The very monotonous gameplay does not help.
This redeemed the whole game for me. I hated her so much.
Serah dying is the best point of the game.
She's absolutely fucking terrible as protag and I was mad the whole time I couldn't play as anyone else.
Literally even the Nigger or the dumb Oedipus complex kid from the first game would be better protags than Bland Lifeless Doll Waifu #1748714
i'll never un-see this so long as i live
>FF13 was liked by the grand majority of people
[citation needed]
Fuck off with Famitsu. Famitsu has the worst taste in video games in the fucking world. They have given Skyrim, MGSV and Nintendogs perfect scores.
READER POLL YOU DUMB RETARD
IT'S NOT FAMITSU'S OPINION
JAPAN
LITERALLY
LOVES
FF13 TRILOGY
L I T E R A L L Y
Japan has the worst taste in video games in the world. They all play mobage idol garbage nowadays.
Keep moving the goalposts.
The point is that the game was liked and successful and the only reason it got sequels is because there was a demand for them. Vocal minority of Sup Forumsermin screamingtheir lungs out won't change facts.
13-2 is actually super fun, (I've completed it multiple times)
>pc cucks trying to shit on series with games that got ported to PC like 5 years after they came out so they can pretend they are part of the discussion with all the no games they are playing right now
The goold old call of duty is good because it's popular argument.
And talking about sales and paid reviews won't change the fact that FF13 is an objectively bad game.
The PC has the definitive versions. You didn't even experience the games for real if you didn't play the PC version.
A game being good is purely subjective and depends on the person playing it, try harder faggot.
>Objectively
You don't know what that word means.
Both of you need to get cancer and die already.
They aren't very good games, so I wouldn't recommend them in any forms.
should I pirate the XIII trilogy?
you shouldnt even play it period
just watch a video it's literally the same thing since the games play for you.
hurts my hands
If you know of any way to speed up games, I would recommend playing FFXIII. Other than that, you'll probably find most of FFXIII very tedious. XIII-2 is the same with lower production values. Not sure how LR is, but I've heard it sucks.
yes, they're all pretty and have comfy OST's, plus the gameplay in Lightning Returns is actually really fucking good.
which is the one that plays like majora's mask? i could sparknotes the first and then jump in midway, i remember xiii being a total slogfest from what I did play of it
The gameplay is just as shit, the story manages to be even worse, and the already mediocre characters got even worse. Having to play the entire game as retard Serah is suffering.
>DUDE LETS IMPROVE THE BATTLE AND CRYSTARIUM SYSTEM BUT MAKE THE GAME PISS EASY LMAO.
You can literally pump levels in RAV, some in COM and actually finish the game in a nice fashion.
I liked the game though. The monster system tickled my autism in a good way, although I did miss actual party members.
Lightning Returns is like Majora's mask, the first like 8 hours of XIII are really boring, after that the battles get a bit more interesting
Lighting Returns
>sparknotes the first and then jump in midway
That will help extremely little. Some of the characters are referenced from previous games, but there's remarkably little cohesion between the games' stories.
>improve crystarium
>turn it into hopscotch
No.
as opposed to the brilliant and complex crystarium system XIII had
>that Clash of the Big Bridge
Don't mind me just posting the best Final Fantasy song ever - youtube.com
Uematsu fangays on suicide watch.
You're ever so slightly under halfway through.
Quaint. I personally think XIII-2 has the second best soundtrack in the franchise, but I think the Big Bridge remix theme is quite bad.
FFRK Choir > V > V GBA > Lightning Returns > Explorers > XIV > I PSP > Dissidia > Dissidia Arcade > FFRK > XII > Chocobo's Dungeon > XIII-2 > Theathrythm iOS
I haven't had a chance to listen to the WoFF one extensively yet.
WoFF was done by Hamauzu and it's based.
this game is a literal cake walk compared to the first one. it was an improvement because the battle system opened up and did not give you a 20 hr tutorial
I know, and I think he did okay for once (I hate Hamauzu the most among Square composers. I like XIII-2 because of Mizuta and Suzuki, if you wondered. Hamauzu only did a quarter of it.), maybe because there are so many remixes and therefore melodies exist, but I haven't finished WoFF yet, so I haven't been listening to the soundtrack and only heard it once ingame.
>this game is a literal cake walk compared to the first one.
Pretty much this. I finished the game without overleveling Serah/Noel and with a bunch of low-tier monsters.
Post-game with top tier monsters was pretty fun though. Wrecking DLC bosses with Valkyrie Lightning Caius in my party never gets old.
We've been through this song and dance before. X was a unified front among three composers and not a pure representation of their styles. His music is cowardly, forgettable elevator music. If you put any of his Dirge of Cerberus' pieces in XIII, you would hardly notice a difference. But as I just complimented him, if WoFF is an indication, then he's finally improving towards my tastes.
But that was the best FF XIII
>X was a unified front among three composers and not a pure representation of their styles.
What does this even mean, you can find songs that sound identical to his work in X in XIII because guess what it's the same fucking composer.

I've said it once and I'll say it again: Kill yourself.
I thought I was the only one. I need to replay 13 sometime but I recall enjoying it. This one was clearly trash though.
Plot went entirely off the deep end and made no godamn sense.
Seriously i can see the complaints for the first one's plot but time travel is completely retarded here, the villain is trashilly written naruto tier mellow drama.
People say the gameplay is improved and I can understand that for the "hallway" complaint but the other major changes are clearly worse to me. That whole random encounter clock thing is lame, getting to sneak up on foes in 13 was much better. Who thinks two mandatory party memebers and one pokemon you can never play as is better than an interchangeable party with different class specializations (non post game atleast)?
Holy shit just got BTFO
>made no godamn sense.
You're pretty stupid.
XIII and LR were pretty good, XIII-2 is a mess.
Why did they have a billion enemy types in XIII-2 but in LR there's like...20 different enemies, which dwindles down because there's, for example, only 30 flans left in the world.
I think that no group of people anywhere on the internet can decide on the definitive best FF13 game speaks enough about the quality of those games.
>lol he wants me to stab him in the heart but I refuse
>but I'll come really close by having the sword's tip right next to his heart
>OH GOD HE JUST GRABBED IT AND SHOVED IT INTO HIS CHEST HOW COULD I NOT PREDICT THIS
No one can decide on the definitive best order of any Final Fantasy games you incomprehensible fucking retard.
I can't recall everything i found wrong with it since it was something I would rather forget about and its been a long time. A major one for me though was the calling Hope's name to beat the AI. Fucking how is that supposed to let past Hope know anything?
Not really the same retard. Of the 2D games FF6 is considered to be the best by far. Of the PS1 era FF7 is considered to be the best by the general folk and there is a decent group that like FF9 the best. FF8 is generally considered to be the worst one. Only FFX and FFX-2 can be compared and of that FFX is liked way more.
FF12 and the MMO games are all its own thing and can't really be compared.
The FF13 games can and will be compared but you will find nowhere on the internet a consensus on the best one which is really fucking weird as fuck.
>we can't destroy cocoon
>actually we have to destroy cocoon
>actually we have to save cocoon
>actually we have to destroy cocoon
>actually we're going to destroysave cocoon

youtube.com
Barthandelus baits them into killing Orphan, but the group then change their Focus through based Etro to saving Cocoon. They kill Orphan without Ragnorak and use Ragnorak to save Cocoon and then Leona Lewis starts playing for some fucking reason.
Christ Uematsu has gotten worse than I thought.
>What does this even mean
That since I think his X music sounds different to me than anything else he has put out in FF (Sometimes pleasant and it has some hummable melody at times.), then it must've been influenced by the other composers, so that the three don't sound totally different and the OST actually sounds like a single production.
And yes I don't think Uematsu and Nakano sounded that good either. Pretty bland in fact. I won't blame that on Hamauzu, don't misunderstand though.
If there are parallels between X and XIII songs, as you seem to know, I'm incompetent at perceiving them. What I can say is that Dust to Dust is good and Sazh's themes + Test of the l'Cie are kinda nice, while the rest of the soundtrack is nothing to me or actively annoying. I hate that the OST is drowning in the leitmotifs of Serah's theme and Sunleth Waterscape. The indistinction bores me.
> getting to sneak up on foes in 13 was much better.
But that just wastes so much time. In XIII-2 they appear, hit them is so much faster. (It was also incredibly depressing to get a good view ahead in XIII and seeing the monsters you were going to be fighting for the next ten minutes. So clinical and non-variable.)
Granted in XIII-2 you can't always manage to run away, but it was still simpler to just attempt than in XIII where you needed to juke them, if you didn't want to fight.
>based etro
>her doing this is the reason why the other two games happen and everything gets fucked up
He was talking about XIII-2
The guy you're quoting was quoting me. Follow the replu chain and you can see we are talking about 13-2
Test of the l'Cie was also arranged by Suzuki. Sazh's Theme is dope though.
Every Final Fantasy is """drowning""" in leitmotifs, Noel's motif is in almost every prominent song in XIII-2 same with Yeul and Caius'.
Retroactively yes, but the original XIII actually has quite a nice ending and XIII-2 should've just been Sazh and Dajh exploring Pulse.
It's a pretty big plot point, everything is dying, and going extinct
You can literally drive species to extinction
That plot twist was such a fucking ass-pull. How do you just leave something like that unexplained in the first game, and then turn around and say 'oh yeah a god helped them win' in the sequel. It's like they wrote themselves into a corner with the focuses.
Yeah XIII would've been a lot better if the story was made fucking apparent to the player instead of shoving a massively key piece of information into datalogs. It's a shame it went down like that because once you figure everything out XIII's story isn't half bad.
>Val'Cies are assholes
>give you a focus rigged to fuck you, regardless of outcome
>goddess feels pity and saves you
>Lightning and co. in XIII's final dungeon talk about needing a miracle
>party goes zombies
>suddenly everyone is back for a final round and wins
>WHHOOOAAAA MY HEAD IS SPINNING WHO COULDA DONE THAT
>No, FF13 is considered one of the best PS3 games in Japan from Famitsu's recent reader's poll. FF13-2 was NOWHERE near that.
>~200 votes in some retarded magazine has any say on Japan's collective opinion of 120 million people
you should've killed yourself after the last time you tried this stupid shit, moron
>XIII has quite a nice ending
None of the characters knew what the fuck they were even doing, and neither does the player. Literally anything could have happened at that point, Snow's "heroes don't need plans" motto becomes the most consistent theme in the game.
And the fact that they kill off two main characters at the eleventh hour to pull a world-saving Miracleâ„¢ just shows how desperate the writers were for player reaction and a way out of the apocalyptic events that the big bad SPECIFICALLY told the party would happen.
the thing I hate most about XIII-2's story is the fact that it's so contrived. XIII ends on a happy note and the excuse to make a sequel is: "well maybe Lightning suddenly disapears and there is no happy ending and now you have to travel through space time to save her which means revisiting all the old areas and fight all the old enemies". It's just openly retconning to fit their lazy story so they can reuse ALL the assets so they didn't waste money developing XIII.
iirc, didn't the lesbians transform into that monster thing that basically saved Cocoon?
>Every Final Fantasy is """drowning""" in leitmotifs,
I didn't really see this in I-VIII. IX had Melodies of Life in half the soundtrack. Yes they had the recurring leitmotifs from one to the next, but not within the same game. At least not in a way that was overbearing for me.
After that? Fair, I guess.
Maybe since I just don't like Serah's theme, whenever it pops up I'm more annoyed. Unlike Noel's and Caius' ones. It kinda is what it is.
the best thing is at the end they shake off their focus by saying: "we had to destroy Cocoon, I guess this is close enough". So they simultaniously saved and destroyed cocoon.
talk about writing yourself into a corner
They transformed into Ragnarok, who's sole purpose was to destroy Cocoon. They dive into a volcano and summon a giant crystal pillar to support cocoon, somehow.
Also, apparently everyone on Cocoon at the time survived the massive shift in altitude and the very sudden, crashing halt.
Monster capturing bs killed the fun.
Soundtrack made no sense half the time.
You don't know that the Main Theme of Final Fantasy VII plays in almost 20 tracks?
Or that Sina's motif plays in around 5?
Or that Sephiroth's plays in around 5 as well?
At this point I feel like you're not even trolling and actually this retarded, watch this video. youtube.com
except XIII's theme was set as "defying fate" from the get-go. Barthandelus and Orphan loathe humans for being able to do more than their main purpose, Bart giving several speeches about being intrigued over what they could possibly do to escape.
>Have you ever paused to consider our reason for making l'Cie of men? We fal'Cie are crafted for a single purpose and granted finite power to that end. With men it is not so. Men dream, aspire, and through indomitable force of will achieve the impossible. Your power is beyond measure.
you don't get to call everything you don't like as asspull, even if it's not actually one
To add to what I said, leitmotifs are fucking everywhere in video and movie scores. You'd have to be a pretty terrible composer to not use it.
Also no leitmotifs in IV or VI? Have you even listened to the soundtracks?
Not to mention that fucking novella series that makes up for like half of the story and should've been part of the goddamn game itself instead of being a bunch of japan-exclusive booklets. Like what the flying fuck were they thinking
but what was the purpose of "destroying cocoon"? killing orphan. they've achieved their goal.
the fal'cie didn't specify how they had to do it. with orphan being gone, even though Cocoon would've been fallen and killed everyone as consequence, they've managed to stop that from happening.
To be fair there wasn't really any escaping it with regards to a videogame.
>Villains' plan is literally to train the heroes up to kill the final boss
