I expect fucking nothing. The reason this game is coming out isn't because it's done and finished, but because Sony figured there was enough interest to make a quick buck regardless.

its got an artbook like usual collectors editions and a really neat statue.

They work for a company called Zenimax and are issued orders by Microsoft through them to attack Japanese games and Sony/Nintendo consoles in general. Microsoft's gaming divisions sole purpose is to simply disrupt Sony, that's their end goal, that's why instead of funding and developing games for their own platform they rather pay shills to shitalk the competition and that means also attacking any competition Bethesda sees like Witcher 3 and FFXV.

The Last Guardian, for instance, is a first-party exclusive. Team ICO is a part of Sony. It's not like Sony is buying them off and they COULD have put this game elsewhere.

I'm from the future, this game will come out to horrific reviews, but praised for it's "storytelling" and manages to get all the people to like it because it'll try way, way too hard to be artsy and the flying dogbird will die in the end, tricking people into thinking it's sad and deep, when in reality, killing off the pet in any series is a easy way to wrack up brownie points. You'll be able to complete it in 4 hours or less, and it'll sell poorly and won't do what they expected it too. It's another decade bomb like ff15.

I don't find home video to be very equivalent to the video game industry, it's a tenuous commonality that functions almost exclusively on the basis that both predominantly use discs (currently).

Video games have always had multiple consoles. In the earliest days they were just toys, so people made their own, similar toys. The industry evolved but the divergent hardware is deeply baked into the structure of video game culture.

It'll be a long, long time before it goes away.
