Where'd you get blazefire sbre?
Masamune is top tier, I'm loving it.
>I dunno man blazefire sabre and masamune has me set for the whole game
This is exactly what I mean, why the fuck would they do this and not have a huge selection of weapons instead?
Blazefire is in Lestallum.
random dlc from what I assume is part of the day one bonus
I'm telling you, it spent 2 years in development.
normies like it. That's all that matters.
I don't understand. How does every other game get hit with tons of 0s on metacritic and yet this one doesn't?
Someone post the Cup Noodle ending.
It's cheap AND delicious.
I think it was built from the ground up and scrapped numerous times over, and then eventually they realised they had to release something so just bundled tons of old assets together to try and create a game.
The exploration/roadtrip part of the game works, its actually pretty damn comfy. But the way they work the story is terrible, same can be said for things like shops, they're just clone pit-shops apart from the main towns hubs.
cause its good?
>fight the skinny metal gear for the first time
>thing is level 22, we were 15s
>no problem
>fight it again at the meteor entrance
>get torn a new asshole
it was Cor carrying us the first time was it
The platinum demo makes me question how it could possibly be good with combat like that
but its fun
>Find out Dad's dead
>Get angry for all of 2 minutes during a cutscene
>Immediately after cutscene
>"BACK TO ROADTRIP GUYS WOO"
>"Hey Noct, get a picture of this!"
Watched someone play this. It felt like a really short Final Fantasy game to be frank, stopped watching a bit after Ignis becomes crippled. Also the constant reminders and cutscenes that your wife is dead is just absolutely hilarious, yeah, thanks for constantly reminding me.
>Kids asking me how my wife is doing
>Cutscenes of how my wife are doing
>Gladiolus has a giant broom stuck up his ass and wont even let me mourn properly
I stopped watch around just after Shiva I think
Someone said it ends on Chapter 15?
>99/99 Thunders stocked
>Dump all into pot
>Combine with Elixir/Hi-Elixir or a high-rank monster material
>Quintcast Thundaga
Just one shot with magic bro, the magic is insanely OP.
>5 days later full of fun shit
>upset again for one minute
>let's go ride a chocobo guys
open world was a mistake
its not like u can do out of character things in every single game on this planet...imagine cloud saying: NO I WON,T GO TO GOLD SAUCER CAUSE MY LIFE IS FUCKED UP...
what kind of retard are you?
don,t mix up game features with the story or you gonna have a bad time. noco only playing sad tunes in his regalia...
>what is literaly every open world game
The road trip part doesn't work at all.
The car is essentially a 1 to 4 minute cutscene with the only real incentive to sit through it being the dialogue between characters.
Driving it in manual is just a strain on your finger.
The world doesn't even exist off road, it isn't an open world game in the slightest.
o shit I forgot magic existed
Am I the only one that really liked this game? I found the story enjoyable and the world immersive with lots to do.
nothing to do with open world see u can always do unimportant stuff even in masterpieces like suikoden 2 u can play whack a mole after your sister died in your base.
man people these days...
it's just jarring to see it happen in a mainline FF game
>NO I WON,T GO TO GOLD SAUCER CAUSE MY LIFE IS FUCKED UP...
Even Gold Saucer eventually turned dark
wait I'm a retard disregard this
i bet you guys shit all over last of us still games like last of us captured you in their rules: NO FUN THINGS ALLOWED TILL THE MOOD ALLOWS IT
fuck u i enjoy all kind of games and can sperate the stuff
Give them a try, I like to keep a Quintcast of each spell as a backup in case any tough fights appear.
still u can feed the moggle and do chocobo races while the world is at edge so whats the point in criticsing taking pictures on their roadtrip ?
star ocean 4 story must be a masterpiece for you when edge destroys the planet and goes all over board with drama
the story is just cliches mashed togheter, japaneses cant make anything original these days
Also, immersive world? The tonws are like 3 streets, the npc's barely talk or interact, the side missions are super tedious too
Is this your first open world game?
do you even reading comprehension? This is in EVERY mainline final fantasy game. In fact thats in pretty much any rpg ever, you can sort of go where you want and do what you please for the most part, no matter if the world is on a strict apocalyptic timeline, or your family was killed, or whatever.
>world immersive with lots to do.
Maybe I spent too much time in the demo but I'm really hating the desert area. It's so damn boring and I explored every inch of it already except the insides of dungeons. Exploration was not fun at all and there's no reason to jump on top of rocks or anything really because there's never anything up there. I hope the next area has better exploration and more vertical design.
>magic is a consumable
>there's a cooldown
>have to go to two menus to equip and reequip every time it runs out
What the fuck man
>Uses footage from Kingsglaive
>Also uses footage from Omen Trailer
These two actually pissed me off, it felt pretty cheap that they used them in-game.
>hey noct wanna go on a hunt
>no im sad
>wanna go on a ride exploring?
>no im sad
>wanna go fishing
>no leave me alone
There are very limited options at any given time until you get the airship unless you want to backtrack
this people just wanna make a drama out of nothing today, they should stick to pretentious indie shit if they really dont wanna have fun and wanna keep the mood down..i need to remember my dead father every 2 minutes and whine about it through the whole game. go play lester the unlikely or some shit
What exactly do you mean the world doesn't exist off road? I typically only find myself wanting the car towards the end of the day to get to a motel or something.
Although I wonder if square was like, let's make a mechanic where the player has incentive to only explore during the day so that all these environments we created can be appreciated during daylight hours.
You only use magic on bosses technically or if you're fighting monsters way above your level, no point otherwise.
You are why Japanese storytelling is considered trash now
Regis' death should be the main push behind Noctis' revenge story.
It's never brought up again, it isn't expanded on, the relationship isn't gone into.
Here, go and collect these weapons and joke with your friends while you take out bases.
man my favourite story rpgs are xenogears , suikoden series and saga frontier. i love the mana series and yes i also like ff 15. but what you guys are nitpicking about is plain shit.
xenogears gets scenes with giant pink guinea pigs near the end of the game (chuchu) still i can look over it for the rest of the story.
not everything must be super deep the whole time. that,s why i came to love jrpgs. if i wanna play something serious from beginning to end i play dark souls or some western rpg
I agree with you, but when looking back at previous FF's, the story always took priority until you eventually got the airship to go and do anything you wanted. It always hindered your freedom up until the end.
But XV does it the opposite way round because it's immediately an open-world playground, so the story (if you can barely call it that) isn't the main focus of your game anymore.
>xenogears gets scenes with giant pink guinea pigs near the end of the game (chuchu) still i can look over it for the rest of the story.
It's handled with an absolute straight face because Chuchu is an animal of that planet. It just looks silly to you because you don't live there.
he made his standpoint in the grave scene with cor..what else is there to know? why shouldnt he ride a chocobo or take a selfie with prompto? i don,t get it. he is doing his job isnt he? he never says: fuck my dad i stay here feeding chocobos
>But XV does it the opposite way round because it's immediately an open-world playground, so the story (if you can barely call it that) isn't the main focus of your game anymore.
Reason why they did this is because dudebros only play the beginning of the game and if it was linear storyblah they wouldn't like it
i think the developers who created the scene were human too and not guinea pigs so they knew how it looks
Normal human emotions:
When you're sad you don't want to do anything 'fun'
But how it looks TO US doesn't matter to the internal consistency of the world. In FF15, unless taking selfies are signs of mourning, it does.
It's not about the sidequests, they're optional.
It's about the main narrative.
Noctis has no incentive to do anything given how the game has him handle his father's death and the loss of his Kingdom.
I'd actually rather some angst in the story thus far.
Noctis really has no character arc, he is strung along by the plot.
like i said , so you are against light hearted moments gold saucer (ff7), card games(ff8) and cooking tournament(suikoden 2)
side content in rpgs in general and thats not GOOD!
I guess, I'm enjoying it still though. I'm up to Chapter 8, about 20 hours in, kind of been taking my time too, doing some random sidequests here and there. It's a good game, but just doesn't feel like an FF game.
How do you do add items and stuff when you craft spells? I'm only in ch3 and can only craft regular fire ice and thunder? How do you get dual cast or in your case quintcast?
chapter 3 18 hours. you rush
>I'm up to Chapter 8
Get ready for the best chapter which is chapter 9. kek
Actually I am against all of those things ;^)
I rarely if ever do side content that doesn't involve the battle system.
They said you didn't have to watch the movie before you play the game but these short clips are pretty confusing and don't have much context.
Fuck, i spent 7 hours in chapter 1 alone. Now just entered chapter 2
SE has rightly IDed that you don't have to have your game be any good, just pay off reviewers and market it and it'll sell fine.
Hey if this sells out its 5m shipment does that mean it will have done better than most western triple A's this year?
But FF is a huge brand, it was always going to sell on name alone. People who didn't even bother to look up reviews/trailers etc no doubt bought it based on this fact.
I would argue about how that's a terrible long term plan for the franchise, but the next pile they're going to shove out the door are the FF7R "episodes", so I'm sure that blatant nostalgia pandering will fuel this trainwreck for the foreseeable future, at least until they run out of material to rehash and have to go back to their small stable of whatever talent they managed to retain.
Good luck to you if you don't like Nomura's autism designs though, because he's all they're gonna have left after this.
I skipped the Omen dream out of frustration.
It felt tacky to watch, like some sort of liscened game from 2004 inter-spliced with scenes from the official movie.
It depends on the amount of stocked magic you put into one 'flask'. So in my case I always make my magic with 99/99, but to get different abilities such as doublecast/quint etc it goes on the rarity of the item you use to combine it with.
So this is your Megalixers, Mega Phoenix's etc. There's tons of different abilities, like some heal you when you cast, other benefits too etc.
Damn, guess I did kinda rush then. I haven't done much fishing yet though, so that'll probably slow me down a bit. Going to really take a step back from the story at the point I'm at now as I can see it's about to bottleneck in terms of freedom.
I also stocked up a ton of exp, around 60k-ish and then slept in the 10k inn at Galdin beach for double exp, so it boosted me right up.
>I would argue about how that's a terrible long term plan for the franchise
Seems like almost every big western triple A follows it though. The people who buy it don't seem to mind unless the game is space rather than modern military or WW1-2. Then they go nuts.
Are there any reasons to use any weapon other than the upgraded engine blade?
Magic also hurts your team. So its almost pointless to use it over heavy attacks.
>tfw this game is so shit if you want a FF and not Dudebros on Road Trip
Can you actually own a chocobo in this game? Or just rent them?
This is EXACTLY what happened and why directors got swapped.
If you have to ask you probably can't do it in FF15
Think you need to rent them, just make sure that everytime you pop to a pit-stop or town with the chocobo rental phone thing, just refresh your rental period back to 7 days.
>tfw square has been consistently shit at world development since 13
What happened to the fully realized fantasy worlds full of awe and grandeur? Yeah sure, this one has giant crystalls around and bizarre mountain formations but besides that?
>chocobos
haha fuck you car
Protip: They can't do that in HD. Too expensive.
How the fuck do I dismount a chocobo?
I want to go to bed
I'd imagine much of its decade-long development time was spent trying to make the engine not fuck everything up. They should have cut their losses early on and just switched to a licensed and well-documented engine, like how Kingdom Hearts 3 eventually did.
Then I want to go back to the ps1 era.
They won't let you since they're happy with the dudebros' money. Unless you're happy with I am Setsuna or Bravely Default as FF clones. I'm not.
This It's been obvious since RPG's hit PS2. If you look at FFX and FFXII both of them avoid the 'airship and world map' that we had in PS1 era. FFX has a little work-around with the save points and airship location menu to make it feel like it's a world map but you can still tell that it's just too expensive to do.
>They should have cut their losses early on and just switched to a licensed and well-documented engine, like how Kingdom Hearts 3 eventually did.
Did this with FF7 Remake too, for some retarded reason I'm actually still on the fence to whether they will manage to do something good with that. But who am I kidding, it'll end up like another FFXV.
They could do a world map but it wouldn't be seamless with other areas. It'd look like it does on PS1 with little characters walking around on it, with better graphics but not anywhere near the level of a typical modern game. SE is not comfortable with that.
normies like playing dress up, only 4 costumes here and they negatively impact stats
>tfw no turn based RPGs where the spell casters feel like they're doing huge damage
Black Magic in almost every game feels so lackluster.
>Start game
>Oh shit son, Ifrit is fucking up this town, I'd better help
>Oh thank fuck it's just a cutscene, wew!
>Later
>Get to the Ifrit part
>Finally get to see the context
>It's just Ardyn's plaything that he summons with no animation for the lads to fight
>The city wasn't even held siege or anything by Ifrit
This really rubbed me the wrong way
>5 million shipped
>48% sell through rate
B-
I've got a fair few issues with the game but I enjoyed the shit out of the ending. The final section upon arriving back at hammerhead and then Insomnia was excellent. I got feels that I haven't felt from a game in quite some time.
The story simply doesn't fit the roadtrip thing they were going for. Either his dad should have died later, or the roadtrip thing was just the opening segment.
wat
I was excited to see the characters had other costumes and was disappointed 17 seconds later when I found out they altered stats.
>no dress up system like Resonance of Fate
And it's still shit. There's no narrative cohesiveness. I don't recall every other FF starting out with a tragedy and immediately going straight in to the mini game area.
>Barely ANY weapons to purchase
What the fuck?
Most small towns / outposts have at least 1 weapon shop with 1 - 2 weapons per category, all of which Noctis can use, and bigger cities like Lestallum have even more weapon shops iirc. Combined this with all the phantom weapons, weapons you can only find in the battlefield, and weapons you can have Cid mod / craft, that's a lot of weapons.
I'm afraid no one will bring up these problems down the line as people did with FF12 and 13. FF15 will pass on and be remembered as a great FF that "returned the series to form" even though it is full of flaws.
>Most small towns / outposts have at least 1 weapon shop with 1 - 2 weapons per category, all of which Noctis can use, and bigger cities like Lestallum have even more weapon shops iirc.
You even checked? They're practically all the same weapons outside the cities, Lastallum had about 3 in each category, the moddable ones there's 5 in total I think, and the royal arms I wouldn't exactly count as 'weapons'.
Compare this with any previous FF, it's literally like 5% of the weapons you normally have a choice from.
>The story simply doesn't fit the roadtrip thing they were going for.
Dear god, this.
>"hey noctis your dad just died and everything you once owned is now destroyed"
>"LETS GO FISHING!"
I meant the party members.
New game plus confirmed. Also you will be able to download that SE boss fight now. Kek
