Yes you are missing out, I recommend at least playing the first Halo.

Also what game is this, I feel like I've seen it before.

Short answer: yeah, you've been missing out. A lot if you ask me.

Except in case of HALO and Mario. The earlier just sucks ass, no matter what Xbots say, and Mario's been constantly rehashed mediocrity since SM64.

Resident Evil 1's brilliant GC Remake got a very nice HD re-release on all big platforms just couple years ago, including Steam. Many consider it as the pinnacle of its genre, and one of the greatest games in general. I really can't recommend it enough, especially if you're into adventure and/or horror games. 2-3 could be easily emulated, while 4 has a fine HD remaster too. Rest suck.

Silent Hill pretty much took RE's basic gameplay, but swapped the B-movie gore & terror fest with more eerie, psychological horror. You could grab SH1-4 for PC from these links, and experience some of the most beautiful and atmospheric games ever released for the first time: Metal Gear Solid, namely first 4 games + Peace Walker, are pretty damn amazing stealth experiences with intriguing, constantly growing series-wide story. Best way to play them would be having PS3+ the Legacy Collection, which has them all, and then playing in release order, starting with MGS1.

FF games are ALL completely separated, individual experiences. You can like some of the games, totally hate some others. I'd recommend giving 4, 6, 7 and 9; those are the most liked by majority of fans. After that... pick your poison.

Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, and its direct sequel, the Majora's Mask, are both some undeniable 10/10 games, and great introductions to the series. Totally worth your time.

>What is file name

Nah, it's shit.

Windows 95 screen saver

Blood, aka the best retro FPS of all time

>source port never
IT
HURTS

Thanks I'll check some of these out

Dos is fine and arguably the best possible way to play it
I am in great pain also
and there's never gonna be a sequal or reboot

thanks

BLOOD EX.
coming "soon"

You're welcome broski.
Probably pretty obvious stuff, but you may and will need some patience & time to get used to each of those games. Stuff made in the past REALLY did differ from each other style and gameplay-wise, even if they belonged to seemingly same genre.

Don't hesitate to dig out the actual legit manuals of those games at first; they've been scanned and uploaded online years ago already.
Release order works for just about all those games, and some of them, like RE and SH, are literally designed to be replayed, thanks to their multiple endings / different playable characters & variations of their campaigns, unlockables.... etc.

Have I missed out on anything?

Minecraft

Halo 1 was better than everything else. Halo 2 and onwards sucked ass.

Super Mario 3d land is the bomb shiggity. Get gud.

Silent Hill is the best series of all time, so yes.

>Halo 1 was better than everything else.
Halo in general is the most overhyped and shilled console trash there has ever been. Boring and empty as fuck.
And this is coming from a guy who grew with Nintendo 64.

>Super Mario 3d land is the bomb
shit-bomb, yeah. Mediocre as hell, with no soul.

resident evil 4 is good and so is silent hill, rest are meh

>zelda, ff, minecraft and halo are better than silent hill
wew kid

how old are you? if your under like 20 some years old then yea it's understandable

Yes REmake is like the best game on every platform it's on

>console
Fuck off lad

>Have I missed out on anything?
You seem to have missed out on the shitty low-poly 3D era. The very rough transitional phase from drawn 2D sprites to proper HD resolution 3D graphics.
I think that's fine. There are som gems hidden there, but these didn't age well at all.

OP

Have you at least played pong or tetris

coldsnap and hugeass were so much fun

You are missing out but you get a pass for having patrician taste in games like Blood.

>never played a Metal Gear solid game
if you're interested in stealth/cinematic games, sure
>never played a Legend of Zelda game
me neither, i was thinking about adding alttp to my snes marathon list though
>never played a Final Fantasy game
FF6/7 should be worth it if you are interested in jrpgs
>never played a Resident Evil game
RE4 is one of the best games of all time and an exception of the "Sup Forums hates everything ironically" meme
>never played a Silent Hill game
haven't completed them but 1-2 should be good for horror fans or if you like atmosphere in games

Well they are. Silent Hill only has one """good""" """game""" so it's not really worth praising, and it's still barely a game.

MY NIGGA

19. Play games like far cry, skyrim, dark souls, bloodborne, borderlands, bioshock, red dead redemption, gta, crash bandicoot. Recently been going back and playing a lot of retro games like Blood, Doom 1&2, Fallout 1&2, Unreal, Quake, Half life, serious sam, Duke Nukem 3d, system shock etc.

I once owned an N64 and had super mario 64 but favoured my PS1. I got rid of the N64 though, which was a big mistake

yes to both

Play REmake, RE4, silent hill 1-3
halo games are alright but not worth getting a system just to play them, plus a big part of them was online and thats dead
Haven't played enough of the rest to say much about them.

No, just an over sheltered homeschooled faggot

>Halo 1
>that dogshit level design
>good

not even close

mgs is good. even 4 and 5. pw is bad

loz seems good, havent plyed one since alttp like 15 years ago though

ff is overrated as fuck on the whole and i do not understand the fixation. 6/7/9/12/tactics are good and everything else is mediocre at best

re and sh i never played either

halo was amazing back in the day, mostly for being the first console fps that was legit good and could be lan'ed. 1/2/3/odst/reach were all great games imo but everything by 343 is awful.

Same here OP but not as bad.

I have

>never played a Final Fantasy game
>never played a Mario game
>never played a Blizzard game
>never played a Rareware game
>never played a Quake or Unreal game
>only just played a Doom game since I realized I really should fucking play Doom already (it was good but not goat as Doomfags claim)

Yet I have completed hundreds of games before. I really feel I should get around to playing some popular things lately instead of my usual niche series.

But everything in this post is wrong you retard

here I forgot to answer OP's question

>MGS

Yeah you are missing out. But only on the first 3 playstation titles. Just play MGS1, MGS2 and MGS3 and maybe the classic MG titles too. Skip everything afterwards the series goes to shit fast.

>Zelda

Not really. I didn't think Ocarina of Time was that great, never tried the 2D's though myself.

>FF

Dunno in same boat as you

>Resident Evil

Greatly missing out. REmake on the GC is a fucking masterpeice. RE1-3 on PS1 are also fantastic titles. Outbreak is underrated as fuck and ahead of it's time as a coop suvival horror game. All the games have god tier level design and atmosphere. RE4 is probably worth a playthough as well but it's more of an action game and while the opening level is great the later levels are shit. Don't play any RE game made after 2005 unless it's a rail shooter (they are okay for rail shooters though I guess)

>Silent Hill

Yeah you are missing out. First 4 games are fantastic, especually 2 and 3. And 4 was meant to be it's own IP, is a great game in it's own and is a good voyeurism simulator.

>Halo

I guess so. Only played Halo 1 myself. I enjoyed it. Not an essential but it's enjoyable.

>mario

dunno.
