What's the best Mario Kart and why is it pic related?

>No quality control on the cover
Worst game hands down, absolutely disgusting.

The items and physics were top notch. I wish they didn't change it in later games to be so ridged.

Cause it had style, was fun, was unique with the double duo, looked fucking cool.

>only 16 tracks
>no online

MK8 is better.

>had an actual fun new mechanic and not "lmao gliders"

The only people that don't like DD are people that had no friends to do 2v2 races

>no online
though it did have LAN which was fun

Toad & red koopa masterrace reporting in

This and Mario Kart DS will always be my favorite games in the series because they handled multiplayer really well and were generally just really fun.

So 75% of Sup Forums?

Because you're underaged and have nostalgia for a game with shit physics and boring track design.

having special powerups based on your character was cool, along with switching characters. I loved to hold onto mario's fireballs and nuke 'em on the last lap

The drifting was also the best in the series, having to set the stick to get the biggest boost made it a lot more fun and engaging

>Shit physics

Go back to playing MK64.

DS is objectively the best

The drifting greatly improved on 64's. 64's drifting felt awkward.

64. Double Dash need not apply

>64
>Ugly graphics
>Bad controls
>Shitty drifting system
>Easy and boring Rainbow Road

No.

DD is slippery as fuck MK8 is better

>why is it pic related?
Two big reasons
1. If you were skilled enough, you could actually use the boost from a fully charged drift to dodge a blue shell.
2. You could hold two items, making it easier to save an item for later use, it also gives you better probability of getting something good from ? boxes.

>tfw I've only been able to dodge a red shell
Some day. Some day I'll dodge those bullshit blue shells

Tight controls.

Toadette you should say.

Girls are icky tho

>no online
Fuck off with your online faggotry. You play Mario Kart with your actual friends or siblings.

>having friends
>having siblings

this nigga gets it, gamecube is a shit console

>mfw fags so young that they grew up with MK7 and 8 say the turbos in Double Dash are shit

I know it's just my muscle memory speaking but those turbo physics are literal perfection. Not to mention everything else about the physics engine was such a huge leap ahead from MK64.

Your webm is also a great example of how Double Dash actually had some thought put into the mechanics and balancing of items and the way a skilled player can use them to interact with course obstacles. Not to mention that the character-specific items were a great idea. Recent Mario Karts have been ruined by their shit item distribution and broken / boring items like Bullet Bills. MK8 would be a serious contender for best in the series if not for this glaring flaw.

>only 16 tracks
How can this be considered a flaw when every Mario Kart only gives you 16 *new* tracks anyway? The retro courses can be fun but they're a seriously lame concession prize. I've felt this way since MKDS.

>no online
At least it was one of the few GC games to support LAN, which was pretty cool for its time and place in its own right. You weren't getting anything better on the Gamecube for better or for worse.

>underaged nostalgia
>Double Dash came out 13 years ago, those that were 5 at the time could post here now
