This isn't necessarily the case. Kojima has these weird connections with film industry people that I don't really understand how he forms them. For example, his relationship with Guillermo didn't originate from business, he just likes Kojima's games, and video games in general. He's also close with director Nicolas Winding Refn - which I have no idea how that started - which is likely where the connection to Mads came from.
