What did you think of The Marble Nest?
Pathologic
This is the pre-alpha, right?
Just started HD version
Sometimes money icon appears in top left corner. Why?
Yes. It's not even really a prologue, I think, just something to demonstrate the game so far.
>Sometimes money icon appears in top left corner. Why?
It means you picked something up randomly as you wandered about town. Sometimes it's small amounts of money, sometimes it's small tradeable items (like nuts)
It just means that the character randomly found some change on the ground. The letter and journal symbols are more important.
Bachelor is cute
those five frames a second I saw looked really nice
I hope it gets optimized
I'm probably just being a faget, but does anyone else think it looks more "gamey" than the original?
Maybe it's the new engine or effects, but it just feels different somehow
I really dig the atmosphere
>tfw climbing up the Stairway to Heaven next to the house where you start
>tfw looking up and seeing the new Polyhedron
This. Bachelor did literally nothing wrong.
How the fuck? The original was EXTREMELY gamey.
Finish all the quests as early as possible.
Sleep until night.
Kill looters at night.
Sell your shit in the morning.
I think it's going to be a pain in the arse waiting for the release of the full game.
REALLY liking what I've played so far.
I could stand by the windows watching the rain trickle down for ages.
Ice-Pick are delivering top tier waifus again!
Just please... show me how Lara is going to look.
It's too comfy.
>Lara
Top tier taste, Actor.
Gameplay wise you're right, but I mean the look of it, really.
Maybe it's just the aliasing or something
Good but the performance is absolutley terrible, playing on a PC with a gtx 690, i7-3770k and 16 GB RAM, it's not the best of the best but it can run most new games at max, I hope they fix it until release(they probably will because it's a fucking pre-alpha).
The main menu music is haunting and fenomenal. youtube.com
I was a little on the fence over how things seem to have been scaled back in size but playing through this release the distances feel just about right. The Polyhedron seems a little too close perhaps and it would be good to have another shop or two in the area but overall it feels about right.
I think there'll be something of a discrepancy when it comes to the town's population though and the number of houses unless they go on the basis of most of the population being in the Termitary?
It was more frustrating playing this because of all the things I wanted to see. As an appetiser it has been brilliant.
Not having the rats constantly nipping at your feet was brilliant as well. Instead seeing their numbers increase just added to the feeling of dread. Even when I was jumping in puddles like a tard.
I think my biggest concern is going to be how saving is handled. Ideally I'd like to be able to save whenever I want or need to. If people want to save scum then let them, it doesn't prevent any other player from going Ironman if they wish to try. If the game relies on checkpoints it'll be a pain in the arse.
Would really like to know what the deal is with the young woman that was tied up though.
There's a few spots I found where you can get out of the map. I'll post some findings, though there isn't much. Here's what I think is the theater based on where it is, obviously it's unfinished.
some kind of machinery
IPL games have always had great soundtracks. The music guy also seems like a pretty cool dude: youtube.com
Have they built the rail station?
Here's where the Earth Quarter should be, either they removed everything to decrease the size of the Marble Nest or they have a LOT of work to do.
and here's a view from on top of the polyhedron.
I didn't find any other important-looking buildings besides the theater, the lower half of the Knots was pretty unfinished looking.
It was interesting how the music we have now feels more like a funerary dirge to set mood than the variety that the original had. It seems more focused this time.
I hope this painting make it into the new game.
Do you think the Cathedral is too small on the inside, compared to the original?
Show some love for Haruspex
When he gets his hair cut and stops huffing Twyrine the filthy hippy.
What's this, a leaked alpha/beta or something?
Preview version of the game for trade shows. Essentially a pre pre Alpha.
Can someone post the mega link again? I downloaded it yesterday but trying to unzip it gave me an unknown error.
Nice. Is there any indication of date for the build itself? It looks really early in progress.
Why don't you just check the archive, Actor?
Because I wanted to bump the thread while at it
Ah, it seems as if I have been outthought. Well done, user.
I finished the game with Bachelor some time ago, would you recommend playing with the other 2 characters as well?
I admit I didn't understand much of the game in the last days, the dialogues went too fucking abstract and surreal that I was wondering what the fuck was going on most of the time, but I loved the game. Would another playthrough with a different pov help me understand it more?
Absolutely.
There are three narrative layers that you'll uncover by playing each of the three characters. When you put everything together that you've learned you'll have a much better idea of what is going on. Daniil gives you the politics and the surface issues. Artemy gives you the towns traditions and superstitions while quite likely giving you a good chance of getting the game's first big mind fuck and Clara will give you the third narrative layer with a lot of what's really going on as well as the game's second mindfuck.
It's possible to get the BIG twist with each of the three characters, just a bit easier with Artemy and Clara.
Definitely. Playing through the Haruspex's story after the Bachelor made me understand a lot more.
Plus, I might give you a shiny penny if you do it on the original translation.
Some other fucker can have gone through that so I'm not by myself.
>Would you recommend playing with the other 2 characters as well?
>Would another playthrough with a different pov help me understand it more?
Definitely, to both questions. All three paths are worth experiencing for the story, and each will give you more detail and backstory on certain areas (the Haruspicus' will give you a lot more detail about Steppe mythology and the rituals of the town, for example). It's just that they're each more difficult to play if you don't already know the game's systems somewhat (this is why the Bachelor's path is best to start with, it's the most straightforward and it gives you the most time to acclimatise).
>I admit I didn't understand much of the game in the last days, the dialogues went too fucking abstract and surreal that I was wondering what the fuck was going on most of the time, but I loved the game.
How long ago did you play? If it was long enough that you played one of the original release versions, and not the HD Rerelease, I should tell you that the HD edition comes with a new, more accurate translation that should clear a few things up, so it might be worth playing even the Bachelor's story again - it doesn't have to be right away, just something to keep in mind, you can play Artemy's path first if you want.
Otherwise, I can only say that your reaction isn't uncommon at all and I'm not surprised, because it can take a few playthroughs not just of the different paths but replaying the same one a few times to really understand it.
Good luck user, I'm glad you persevered and ended up loving the game.
>Plus, I might give you a shiny penny if you do it on the original translation.
>Some other fucker can have gone through that so I'm not by myself.
Do you mean the common translation (the regular edition that used to be found on GOG and Steam) or was there an earlier translation still?
I wouldn't mind playing one if there was, I think it'd be an interesting experience.
>That fucking haunted house that the guard locks you in
The original English translation. The one where Clara's route will have you tearing your hair out and dribbling in a fever dream.
If there were an even more obscure translation I don't know if I could play it. The original was like discordant poetry at times that left you with a headache. Classic HD was rock solid and had quite a lot of attitude to it. What we've seen so far with this remake looks to be somewhere between the poetic and the playful. Daniil's sarcasm has been really brought to the fore.
Just wait for the morphing infection faces in Marble Nest.
The music was my favourite thing about Cargo!
Anyone been able to fill more in?
Am I going to need the lockpicks from the guard? I asked him for them but they didn't appear in my inventory or on the ground.
Love the music I've heard from it, but won't be able to play myself with upgrading my toaster.
You can trade with Shrew for them. I'm not sure what the exact "win" conditions are and how much you need to do.
Could be a bug though if you haven't received the items?
I think I fucked up.
Worth doing. The gameplay will change a little bit for each of them, you'll have a slightly harder time than with the Bachelor.
Would consoles be an option for you?
Maybe, but I should be able to upgrade by the time the game gets to full release.
The Earth's gotta feed...
Chances are people are going to sperg out over the shit that goes on in the town with the social climate we have now.
Here's hoping. The more of us in these threads on release the better. It was great here when Classic HD was released.
In fact I found a lockpick earlier but it seems to have disappeared too. And I can't trade with Shrew. I don't care to play through this again, and I think I've done just about everything else, so can anyone tell me what happens in the locked room on the third floor of that house the kids are at?
You'll find some people that aren't feeling too well.
Worst girl
Pleasantly surprised. I thought it was going to be a bare bones 'mood-piece' but it's a lot like playing out a game day from the original
how can someone so right be wrong?
could be the unity engine which you've come to associate with 'gamey' games
I want to give headpats...
Could never accept the rules of the game and could never change them.
Daniil is an achingly smart, useful idiot.
when he gets his hands on the polyhedron, I'm sure that changes
What was the deal with this house? I just looked through the cupboards while some creepy noises played and then it suddenly became normal.
dick status: muh
It would be interesting to see him (the player) try. Given the structure of the game (original) Daniil is stuck between a rock and a hard place.
If Ice-Pick were to allow us to break the rules ...fuck me that'd be incredible.
you must have been lucky. I started to loot a container, then woke up in the graveyard and had to find my way back to town by following campfire smoke from the steppe camp
Something to do with the pocket watch I think.
Big ol tiddies.
>one eye on the bride. one eye on twyrine
>start playing this
>having a blast, not being handholded at all what is this
>stop playing because something came up
>now I don't remember what I was doing, gotta restart completely
Bachelor > Other guy > Girl right? Never finished bachelor yet, honestly didnt get that far either
is there something like The Secret World wiki where whenever you get absolutely stumped you can get a hint?
there's walkthrough in pdf, just google it
You'll never rescue a Steppe Bride and live in a cosy apartment in the Capital.
There's a spooky ghost that rapes your mouth if you don't play peek-a-boo with it or move quickly through the house
There's a full walkthrough for each character, just look at the day you're on to get an idea of what you're doing.
>wanting used Odongh goods
I dont want a walkthrough, I just want something to consult for a hint or two in case I get stuck
...
so... a walkthrough
I really like the eastern-style makeup.
It makes the setting seem less Russian, and more mysterious and allegorical.
>implying she would want to be "rescued"
ask a question on the steam forums
I used to have encyclopaedic knowledge of the Bachelors days and outcomes. Some really unnecessary shit like one quest that you're told to get from ospina but you can get it from eve with different outcome and rewards.
I'm hoping that this gives Unity a more positive reception. How is it running for you all?
dogshit, but it's expected, it's an alpha
gives my GTX 980 a workout, but runs fine at max
HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS
MY WEEKEND IS SAVED
Then ask Sup Forums. There's only one part in the Bachelor's story where it was really unclear what to do in order to progress, and it's later on. But don't be a bitch and look up the most optimal decisions to make, or anything like that.
Not as badly as I expected.
Makes me wonder how beholden they are to the traditions of the Steppe, whether they *can* break away from it. The split and tension between the Steppe people and the Townspeople in Classic were tantalising but underdeveloped.
I wonder what her milk is like.
Runs like crap for me, but it's a pre-alpha.
what happens if you dont follow the troglodyte after you talk to the guys father?
Nobody important will be upset because just about every person who will get "offended" by the game isn't going to play long enough to see any of it.
It's an arthouse game and there's way more "offensive" films out there while still remaining abstract and beautiful.
Speak to all of your adherents. Sometimes look a little further afield if you go to a quest location and find nothing, markers won't always pinpoint exactly where you need to be.
you'll have to find young vlad some other way.
If I'm not mistaken, one of the Kains or Kapella points him out. It's someone, I really can't remember. If you can't find him you can't continue the questline.
In Classic HD? I think you could just keep searching buildings.
If I've never played pathologic can I play this new thing first? Or do I need to know the original story first
Where's the mega
>Start game
>So are you ready to accept your death Bachelor?
>Yes
>No point in fig- wait, did you say yes?
>Yep
>Nigga you gonna die, you can't just say yes at the beginning, are you sure you don't want to resist?
>Yeah, I accept death
>Game Ending: You Dead
10/10
I agree for the most part. With a console release though, I'd expect it to draw a bit more attention and more sperging.
Read the thread
it's a re-envisioning of the original, so all playing the original would give you is some appreciation for the changes made in the new one.
thanks
Marble Nest is loosely tied to the events of the original game, taking place on a single day. Some stuff is mentioned, meaning it would occur on one of the end days, but it's a self-contained story.
