I'm a professional animator, and what I saw today fucking sucked, from an animation point of view, the older games had better animation. Here is what was wrong:
1- Crash moves slowly in remake
1. There is no weight to it at all
2. his run animation is shit now
3. he makes horribly cheaply animated facial expressions now.
omg just everything about his animation was so wrong......
At least the Hd graphics looked good but that's all.
But god damnit hire better animators for this game.
They did well with the level remake, but fix Crash's animations and facial expressions!!! How can you make worst than the 90s version?!?!
So this is why animation quality has started to tank
All the animators are wasting time browsing Sup Forums.

how did we get from this...

>I'm a professional animator Naw you're not. There's nothing wrong with the footage shown from an animation standpoint.
Owen Rogers
>only on ps4 it will fail, screencap it, should gone multiplat
Gabriel Ross
There is something about his goofy expression these new developers just can't capture.
it's not his character model, they just can't get this expression right.
what does this expression convey?
It conveys a hopeless idiot, that's screaming from the inside, somebody fucking kill me ,
they keep presenting him as a manoac in these new versions.
Oliver Flores
what? learn to express your dumb thoughts like fucking human, mongrel
Jaxon Phillips
>stylized cartoony animation got thrown out in place of CGI "realistic" cartoon animation >lighting is bland as fuck, hardly any contrast >I can't even get half of what is happening on screen >because of THAT FUCKING MOTION BLUR
Robert Martin
>says some random dumbass from Sup Forums ok buddy
Nicholas Perez
Fuck you, OP. This shit is beautiful.
Juan Anderson
Can I see some of your professional work?
Cameron Mitchell
I agree, there was something fundamentally wrong about that trailer
Carson Collins
...
Jackson Cook
what's bothering me is that Crash is now cross-eyed.
He looks like he is looking into nowhere all the time.
he never stares at anything in the remake. The animators fucked up his eyes.
Tyler Price
can we see YOUR professional work?
Dylan Bell
He isn't....oh wait...
>yfw they could'nt even get him to stare at the camera in this shot.
Tyler Price

The HD made it difficult to animate believably.
Hunter Green
>tfw it's a 1:1 reproduction
Nathaniel Rogers
I don't get it, why didn't they just model him after thid one?
Jordan Foster
Hello OP
Evan Wood
Follow Aku Aku. He just moves straight to set coordinates in 3D space in some scenes, and moves around fluidly in others. Crash moves directly between three locations in the final scene with Papu Papu. You guys see the somersault animation come out after the normal jump animation during the hot pipes scene? Fucking jank. In the few scenes where Crash is turning, you can see an approximation of analog control coming into play, with him actually turning around while moving, rather than just instantly facing in one of the 8 directions he can move, like in the original. They're really not trying to make gameplay feel as crisp as the original.
I honestly am suspicious that this "gameplay" might be a pre-animated tech demo for the graphics, rather than actual programmed gameplay. Jump heights are inconsistent, things don't work the way they should, and special effects are over the top, in lieu of actually conveying what's going on. No unfinished game looks like this. No finished game looks like this. No GAME looks like this.
Jackson Miller
>everyone who thinks I'm stupid is OP! nah m8, I'm not OP and I think you're stupid as well go back to your safespace hugbox or even better, kys
Isaac Parker
>I'm a professional animator I am so sorry to hear that.

>No unfinished game looks like this. No finished game looks like this. No GAME looks like this.
This, looks completely set up to me. Which is devastating, how hard is it to port/recreate some code that ran on a fucking PS1?
Zachary Johnson
It looks fine to me. Be happy it is not skylanders.
YES, the animations could be better but I'm happy enough with this, and excited.
Oliver Lewis
>It conveys a hopeless idiot, that's screaming from the inside, somebody fucking kill me , kek, you should work for sony
Colton Young
>somebody called me retard for acting like one, waaah it must be op! what
Ryder Morales
Wow OP is on full damage control.
Angel Ward
THIS. Because it is so true.
Everytime he jumps and spins and runs the animation is sligjtly different from spacing/timing etc.
David Miller
Because I don't work for that shitty company called Activision.
Alexander Ward
>he doesn't know how to check for samefag literally kys newfag cuck scum
Grayson Young
Non of these are OP. Because I'm op. Also, I analyzed the trailer after I read this Everytime, the movement of the run cycle is different. That's kind of odd.
Jonathan Martin
Good point user.
Henry Cox
I actually thought this too but couldnt put it as well as you have
Christopher Morgan
except...people were playing the demo at PSX
Noah Ramirez
If this is real, then I'm ashamed of the developers.
That's pretty decent. The movement is still not quite as crisp as it should be, to accommodate for more than 8-way movement, but the jank of the shifting of jump animations is much less noticeable in actual gameplay. I see a few small things that require work, but overall the gameplay looks near to completion, even if it's not fully true to the original work. I guess I'm fine with this. Fuck the commentators, though.
Ian Kelly
this. if companies dont have the fucking balls to take risks, then fuck em
Zachary Bell
OP here
I take everything back I said.
this actually looks great in real gameplay.
Jayden Moore
I had the same reaction. For some reason the trailer looks incredibly janky but the actual gameplay looks good. Maybe those levels are the only ones that are playable so far or something.
I do hope they fix up the lighting though. It doesn't have that same 'cosiness'. It needs more contrast and grit.
Eli Robinson
Why did they change up the music, though?
There were all the pre-console mixes they could have used, which were never used back in the day.
With this, everything that used to be staccato is now played with slightly longer notes, and it gets on my nerves. A few notes are wrong as well, instantly taking away some of the jazzy sound and making it more stock.
Jayden Lewis
I (sort-of) fixed your Tawna. It's just the eyebrows that look wrong.
Ayden Reyes
Activision made a shitty trailer the gameplay is 1:1 Heres B-roll footage of thr game. youtu.be/hSOok0TgZqM
Ethan Nelson
>I'm a professional animator
Prove it.
Joshua Wood
Is the trailer much more pale? I just changed on a dime when I saw the gameplay footage, and thought it looked really good.
Nathaniel Davis
I think her legs need to be longer. Like her mid section is too long
Jose Clark
WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST MAKE A NEW CRASH GAME WITH THE ELEMENTS FROM THE OLDER NIGHTYDOG GAMES?!?
I mean why should I play the exact same game again?
Jaxon Campbell
Fuck, it actually looks g-good
Kevin Reed
>everything that used to be staccato is now played with slightly longer notes, and it gets on my nerves. A few notes are wrong as well, instantly taking away some of the jazzy sound and making it more stock.
What is every music remastering ever. LucasArts' Special Editions suffered a lot from this, even though most of them weren't that bad.
I mean, they could have called up Josh Mancell himself for the job, what the fuck is their problem?
Caleb Thompson
> DAHNALD THE DELEGATES! THEY'RE MINE!
I've been on Sup Forums too long.
Jason Nelson
It's more noticeable when you compare it to the original I think. Colors just seem richer and shadows are actually dark. Maybe I could just fiddle with TV settings to make it look better.
My guess is that they're just testing the waters to see if it's worth it.
Christopher Scott
Holy shit this looks awesome
Henry Nguyen
This looks GOAT
Landon Wright
Props for adding time trials to 1 and 2.
Samuel Hill
>masks in time trial
That wasn't a thing, was it?
Evan Lee
It was actually, getting 3 masks helps to get a better time
Owen Kelly
It was, and it sped Crash up when you got 3, especially when hanging from bars.
Luis Kelly
>I'm a professional animator
Logan Garcia
Because so many people were born since Crash was relevant.
I never played the original games so I'm gonna buy this.
Dominic Martin
If you have payed close attention, in the original, the animation keeps getting better with each new title with Crash 3 having the best animations overall.
I wonder if they will also keep making better animation for each of the remasters.
And each game had new slightly different moves.
In 3, you could spin much faster and also do that dash jump.
Evan Gutierrez
>I never played the original games so I'm gonna buy this. Or you could just not be a fag and play the original games.
Gavin Cruz
>3D platforming with a SONY FUCKING DPAD no thanks Also I can't play old games I don't have nostalgia for because they look like shit
Samuel Davis
the actual gameplay you can see people playing at the event runs normal speed. something is off about the footage they showed off though as several people have pointed out.
Jeremiah Rodriguez
Also you'll hate Crash 1 for it's beyond awful save system, which I highly doubt will be in the remaster.
Liam Foster
The fucking point of this remake is to introduce a new generation to Crash Bandicoot, so that they can carry on with new Crash titles.
Alexander Robinson
The PS1 d-pad is fine, though. I prefer it over the stick on any crash game.
Tyler Green
If the Dpad is your only problem, then why not just play it using the stick? You can easily do that whether on PC or playing on PS3.
Carter Lopez
Yeah you're right, I'll just pirate the original games so this endeavor fails and there won't be any more Crash games.
Retard.
Landon Russell
If you're using an emulator, you can easily plop a save state between levels instead of dealing with that shit.
Charles Gomez
>the only way to play old games is to pirate them Literally retarded.
Carter Price
see God, Sup Forums is chock full of homosexuals with Down syndrome
Adam Jenkins
Am I realistically going to buy a PS1 and three games? No.
I'm gonna keep the PS4 I already have and buy the one game with three games in it.
Ayden Martin
SOILED IT O I L E D
I T
Aaron Rogers
Very funny. I'm actually a professional animator and you're full of shit. No actual animator would say empty statements like >There is no weight to it at all ever, without stating which of the 12 principles of animation was lacking in any given animation.
Poor bait /10.
Chase Carter
>I'm a professional animator stopped reading.
Jordan Rodriguez
>I mean, they could have called up Josh Mancell himself for the job They didn't? Fuck man, that makes me sad. That man deserves to be a part of this
Matthew Nguyen
Who's the bigger dumbass? The dumbass that calls out the OP dumbass on their bullshit or the dumbass claiming to be an animator with no proof?
Evan Robinson
how about you kill yourself then? one less homosexual with down syndrome on Sup Forums to worry about
Cooper Gonzalez
Literally every Sony platform aside from PS4 is capable of playing Crash Bandicoot though either physical copy or downloaded. Please don't tell me PS4 is the only console you own.
Colton Turner
>if you die you can still get the gem at the end REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
