Have you upgraded to 4k yet Sup Forums?

Have you upgraded to 4k yet Sup Forums?

Yeah, real 4k on a PC though.

>falling for the 4K meme

I have a 4k tv but I find the idea of running 1440p games weird. Like that can't upscale as nicely as 1080 right? Besides unless I see a trade in deal that will cost me next to nothing I wouldn't upgrade.

4K*

>here let me just show off my 4K setup with this game that looks like it was made for the PS3

>4k resolution
>2k textures
10/10 would waste money again.

>muh pixel count tho!
With a 20 inch screen size you need to be one foot away from your monitor to notice it.

>1440p
Isn't 4k.

I have never seen a 4k monitor smaller than 24".

27" - 30" is perfect.

At 30 inches you need to be two feet from your monitor to notice the difference. I guess some people might sit that close? Seems like it would be an eyestrain.

>I guess some people might sit that close?
Virtually everyone who uses a computer sits that close
30" is a bit big for a monitor though, you have to move your head/eyes around too much to see corner to corner.

>Virtually everyone who uses a computer sits that close
I'm more of a three foot person. But then again I use a laptop.

How the fuck do you use a laptop from 3 feet away? Do you just have your arms permanently outstretched and barely scrape keys with your fingertips?

I'm just terrible at guessing lengths I guess. I checked. I'm about 2 feet.

fuck 4k

8k is where it is at these days. (7680x4320)
What are you poor?

1440 is the current meme my man

>ps4 pro
>to play bloodborne
oh boy you sure must be enjoying those sweet 4k right?

Yeah, that's about right. At a standard desktop, people sit about an arm's length from their monitor, which is around 2 feet or so.

Dual 1080s wouldn't be enough at that resolution, you can look at pretty pictures but that's all it would be good for.

>Bloodborne
what did he mean by this?

I just did some more measurements to keep myself from putting the foot in my ass.

30 inches at two feet away seems like it would either strain your eyes or you'd see like only half the screen.

Pretty much. 27" is generally agreed as the biggest comfortable resolution for monitors, anything bigger is TV territory.

Yes, have been for the past year

Not playing a superior game with a superior aspect ratio.

What's your GPU?

>batman: medieval edition
>superior
nah
Also, ultrawide has such awful support that it's not worth the hassle. Plus, you get less vertical real estate, so it's actually worse than regular 1080p for anything besides movies and games.

not yet. but i will in the next two years when they become as cheap as hd tvs

>1440p pixel density

lol ew peasant.

Two 980tis at 1.5ghz with a 6700k at 4.7ghz

Bought a 1080 a few weeks ago along with a vive. I waiting for vr to be 4k. By then I'll be trying to upgrade to 8k.

Ok, if you say so.

>2015 vr glasses
>2016 4k
What will be the 2017 meme gimmick?

nah, 144hz at 1440p is good for now, monitors don't benefit much from 4k unless they're fuckhuge, a 4k TV hooked up to the computer to watch movies and junk on is nice though

Don't get what you want to tell me?

If you don't game at 4k you're literally just as bad as console trash.
4k is the hallmark of real PC master racers.

@359574506

speaking of monitors and resolutions and refresh rates, what do g-sync and freesync actually do? do they just act like the built-in interpolation in some televisions where they make up frames if your framerate is lower than 60 or something?

>defending ridiculously tiny, low fidelity resolutions
lol

Super overweight people with fecal matter in their butt cracks that smell oppressively bad because they are too fat to wipe their own butts VR Simulator - The Game.

2560x1440 is a fine resolution if you don't want SLI-blunder and 60fps.

>monitors are easily over 1000 for decent refresh rate and response time
>need like a million titans to be able to play games at that resolution

>SLI blunder
I don't get where the SLI meme came from
It works great if the gmae supports it, and all my games do so I don't see the issue

This is why I'm happy with my 1080 144hz monitor.

tfw all these poor 1080plebeians talking shit about 4k because they can't afford it

I would just rather keep my rig contained to a single card without blowing money out my ass to pay for a titan which will lose 50% of its value in a year or less.

HDR is the next gimmick

>he actually thinks his console can render anything at 4k
kek

Is 4k really worth it or just get a 120-144 refresh rate monitor until a single card can actually handle it without having two or over clocking shit?

>21:9 meme
Off yourself

>Dark Souls 3 running at 4k
>console
That's running on pc, retard

60 fps. FINALLY

4k movies are nice. But yeah I can't afford 4k gaming.

show it in any other area, the game still looks like brown and bloom trash

when the fuck do come to this area, I hate the swamp area I'm in now, I just lit the first fire

no, I like my 1440p monitor at 144 Hz.

After the area that's next to the swamp

Using your tax refund =! affording it, nigger

oh ok, fuck I hate these areas, no one like them, everyone just wants to go out, at least you won't get a 20fps like in ds1

yup

>leaving DoF ON
eww, why?

Forgot to turn off after re-install

120hz is only worth it if videogames are your """""job""""" either by streaming or esports

i know you are none of those so go for the 4k

>paying taxes
Cucked by the state and government I see

literally cant tell the difference

esports maybe but streaming 120 is gonna be really tough and you'll need top end hardware/internet

You have to be 18 to post here

>fume sword

You must be a NEET to post here

I don't pay taxes because I get NEETbux, you wagecuck normalfag

no, i am fine with 1080p. my PC is too weak to play ds3 on anything but low but the game still looks stunning and better than ps4 and xbox one.

as long as the game is fun, i don't really care

My current apartment is in a shit neighborhood.
I'm waiting until I find a new place to invest in a rig.

>1484x818
What's with that weird ass resolution?

Being 60fps on consoles would've been a far better use of additional computing power.

Do you have the source?

>that
>stunning
>better than ps4 and xbox one
i can't tell if you're joking or not user

You'd get banned for posting it.

That vegetation is so comfy.

i am, note how the ground is transparent

i'm sure this looks screenshot alone has better performance than the ps4 or xbox one.

Yeah, just got my PS4 Pro today
:^)

Can anyone who understands technology explain to me HDR? It's not just another gimmick, right?

I will when 4k HDR monitors come out, so sometimes next year I'm guessing. I've been using a 2560x1600 monitor for 4 years now so I'm do for an upgrade.

I thought Bloodborne wasn't getting a Pro patch?

>4k
>upgrade

Whats fps like?

actually hitting 144 frames on most new games is going to be just as difficult as hitting 4k, and 4k has the added benefit of 4k videos.

I'd rather just get a 4k 60hz monitor and overclock it to 75hz for gaming, or hit the middle-ground with a 1440p 120hz monitor

Eh. The effect is real, whether you care enough about deeper colors is up to you.

No. OLED is too expensive and I already have a 10 bit monitor.

I care but is it something that's easily noticeable?

Seriously.
>muh blur
>muh dof
>literally burning a dozen fps to make it look worse

yes. It's like bumping up the contrast, but without anything being washed out. Colours are much more varied.

Any idea if pc monitors will get HDR or is it just a tv thing?

Basically what he said. Yes its noticeable.

there's no reason monitors won't. HDR is basically just marketing talk for 10bit color depth (most monitors are currently either 6 or 8) + wide color gamut

Is 16:10 completely dead? I miss vertical space.
