Well, it's an interesting direction, and perhaps anything better would be better than what they were doing in Resident Evil 6, but it's looks like they didn't so much base this game on horror trends, but made an entire game based on them, so now Resident Evil has little identity outside the trends of jump scares, found footage, spooky houses, zombies, jump cuts, etc.

Is there anything in this trailer that makes it different from a generic trailer for a generic modern horror movie?

I have a feeling this is going to be more like Alien Isolation/Clocktower than any classic RE game. I know they've shown those enemies in the basement , but it really does seem like most of it will be spent just dealing with the cannibal redneck family one on one. Even Nemesis and Mr X only showed up every once in a while, so that's not really comparable. I hope I'm wrong though.

If anything, i would've loved if they continued with the RE6 formula minus the multi campaing/forced co-op shit. RE6 has the best gameplay in the series, and now that gameplay its dead because apparently RE6 is shit in all regards. RE5 was 100 times worse than 6.

I think it might be a bit more varied overall. Rednecks might just be the start, and I would be disappointed if they don't transform into wacky shit that you need to finish with a rocket launcher.

So far it looks pretty good. I was a bit worried and disgusted when they announced it on E3, but it is starting to look better and better like a proper RE game with a bit of new mechanics.

They could use that gameplay for Dino Crisis, it fits more against fast Raptors.

This, people seem to think RE 1 didnt have wacky biological experiments like sharks, flymen and giant spiders /snakes. RE often tries to start slow and then go batshit insane in things later on.

No, but this might be the first since then.

RE4 is probably the best vidya I've ever played. I played 5 but thought it was pretty meh so I didn't bother with any of the others that have since been released. Glad to know I haven't missed out on anything

Same here. RE5 felt too arcadey and like a shitty shooter. Basically all atmosphere was gone from it, and the item management were co-op mission garbage incarnate.
Then 6 got even worse... Nobody can blame Capcom for completely going in another direction
