Nowadays?
One are shitty "character-driven" action games.
The others are shitter waifu/husbando driven action games half of the time or are quaint turn-based otherwise.
They all suck, though. Good RPGs died in the 2000s.
WRPGs
>open world
>real-time combat
>open-ended
>emphasis on player choice
>very customizable in many aspects
>immersive
>realism
JRPG
>generally not open-world
>combat is either turn-based menu based, or a hybrid of real-time with menus
>not as open-ended, game nudges you a specific direction
>not as much emphasis on player-choice, and instead on the player's reaction to what's given to you
>not very customizable, characters, areas and setting are set in stone and much more distinct
>not as immersive because main characters tend to have their own personality and the story's railroaded
>not realistic, tends to go for style over realism
Older WRPGs > Older JRPGs
Modern JRPGs >>>>> Modern WRPGs
WPRGs have ugly trannies, JRPGs have cute traps
It's hard to put into words. Maybe some examples of great WRPGs will help
>dragon's dogma
>bloodborne
Jrpgs are very pretty.
Top is JRPG
Bottom is WRPG
JRPG is for RPG games made in Japan.
WRPG is for RPG games made in West.
DemonSouls is JRPG, and so does Pantsu Adventure VII: Cute Pink Ribbon Warfare.
>bloodborne
>wrpg
God I fucking that overdesigned shit from Final Fantasy/JRPG in general
so you're a faggot either way
>sushi made in the west is not japanese
Kek
Are souls games WRPGs made by Japanese people??
Anybody have the edit of pic related that states the pros of both sides?
Souls games are just action-adventure games with RPG elements.
>first pic on JRPG gameplay
Is that The Last Remnant?
What are top right and bottom right?
Yes.
Top right is Xenoblade, bottom right is Witcher 2.
>The future of jrpgs
>FFXV
