Go Sup Forums I'm seriously considering getting a PS4 now. People around me wont shut up about FFXV, KH 2.8 is coming out and the PSX conference was yesterday.

This honestly will be nothing more then a Exclusive Box as I mainly play on PC

Question!.
Do I go Pro or regular?

Outside of Naughty Dog Games what is out there?

if you have 4k with HDR, go with pro. Else, either slim or normal.

The pro is noisy, makes too much heat and breaks itself, I wouldn't recommend it.

Breaks itself?

Literally everything you just said is a complete lie.

The pro is quieter than the original, runs cooler, and the side melthing thing was a hoax. There is literally nothing in the console on that side that generates heat.

Don't listen to the shitposter. Pro is fine.

Pro.

Bloodborne
Nioh
Ace Combat 7
Horizon Zero Dawn
Resident Evil 7
The Last of Us 2

Op here

Dark Souls really isnt my thing and RE7 is coming to PC. So Horizon and Last of US. Anything else?

I'm in the same boat as you, OP. Currently exclusively PC and have recently been toying with the idea of ps4 just to play the exclusives.
But, I just don't think there are enough exclusives that I am interested in to warrant getting it in my case. Bloodborne, FFXV (which will surely come to PC), Crash, Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted are pretty much all that intrigue me at the moment. Plus, I don't want to feed the software exclusive bullshit.

Get the pro and put an SSD in it, load times are cut 75% on a lot of games with bad framerates and long load time
Like bloodborne

get the P R O

So which is the quietest out of all the different models? My launch PS4 screams in the summer.

Probably the slim. It's worth noting however that I can just barely hear the pro when I'm playing, it's really quiet.

Yep. The Pro is NICE but at $400 to play 4-5 games is bit much plus its not like those games are on PC like Deals.

>load times are cut 75% on a lot of games with bad framerates and long load time
bullshit

>Too much heat

Its true
One of the biggest improvements on the pro that was never talked about was crazy good optimization to work with SSDs
20s loads in bloodborne on an HDD became 5s on an SSD

This
Pro + SSD is master race
Sata III is goaty

It's bullshit

PCfag here, I picked up the normal PS4 for 250 and don't regret it. I don't have a 4k tv and will only buy a few games a year.

>Toshiba SSD
my sides have unplugged from the matrix

Wait, so the pro can benefit SSD's speed?

>Buying a previous gen console with shimmering AA

Yeh

I'm upgrading to a Pro. I've hated my PS4 until now but this line-up is fantastic got the first time in two gens.

Yakuza x2
The Last Guardian
Nioh
Crash Trilogy
Patapon
Resident Evil
Ace Combat

I'm genuinely a little excited. I can only hope for more of the same. Couldnt care less about Knack, Uncharted, Horizon, etc. mind.

They finally stepped up to SATA III, so yes, it loads 50Gb in literally a second

The original could.
There's not much of a difference between the 2 either since game loading is usually reliant read speed of smaller files which is usually below SATA 2 speeds.
You only really go over 300MB/sec in sequential unless you're using a PCIe drive.

don't go pro

it upscales the games and makes them run worse!

SATA I(revision 1.x) interface, formally known asSATA 1.5Gb/s, is the first generation SATA interface running at1.5 Gb/s. The bandwidth throughput, which is supported by the interface, is up to 150MB/s.

SATA II(revision 2.x) interface, formally known asSATA 3Gb/s, is a second generation SATA interface running at 3.0 Gb/s. The bandwidth throughput, which is supported by the interface, is up to 300MB/s.

SATA III(revision 3.x) interface, formally known asSATA 6Gb/s, is a third generation SATA interface running at 6.0Gb/s. The bandwidth throughput, which is supported by the interface, is up to 600MB/s. This interface is backwards compatible with SATA 3 Gb/s interface.

lol

get out of here with your autism

Pro don't be an idiot.

Third party games may run worse because the devs are lazy but first party games will be optimized like fuck.

I feel so sorry for the idiots that fall for the Xbox shills spam posting pictures of dips on third party games running at twice the resultion.

Do what you want actually.

Do you have any idea what sequential read is?

I don't think Pro will be worth it. Now that new engines for this generation should complete for game development, I think CPU will be bottleneck to the GPU and games would still operate at 30 fps rather than 60 in most cases.

>third party games
Last of Us is 3rd party game?

Slim has the exact same specs as normal. Slim should be cheaper so just go with that

Do you actually have a pro with an SSD sitting in your room right now, or are you just parroting digitalfoundry? In a real life test you're lucky to even see a loading screen more than 3 seconds

Pro is SATA 3.0 versus 2.0 in the other PS4's bound to see some sort of improvement.

You would still have better looking effects on the pro.

As Digital Foundry tested, the difference is negligible. Like 2 seconds difference between SSD on original and Pro in TW3.

Get slim.

The original and pro sound like they're going to take off, the air intake to keep them cool is beyond a joke

Does the Pro actually run games better (Higher and/or smoother framerates) or does it just make games run in 4K?

Probably going to buy one after the holiday season to play Bloodborne and Project Diva Future Tone.

Just resolution most of times. I already accepted this gen as 900p-1080p. Trying for 4K is a joke, better leave that for PS5.

Nothing I have seen about the Pro has made me hopeful about competent 4k yet. If you don't even have a 4k television just go with the slim.

Do you? Then it shouldn't take more than a few seconds to record a video and show me.
And it's just simply how SSDs work, even on PC with high end SATA ssds you will rarely see a game's disk utilization go above 300MB/sec.
Fucking GTA 5 usually hovers around 50-70MB/sec because I guess all game files are stored as 2kb chunks or some shit, it's retarded.

It's all up to the developer. Some devs will offer graphics options(Original PS4 mode, 108060, 4k30, or a higher quality 108060) and other just throw a blanket 1800p over everything and call it a day.

Also that's only if the dev actually updates their game.
The vast majority of games will just run in OG PS4 mode 1:1 resolution and framerate since their devs abandoned them.

It's almost like new games get made too

>269

BREHS

>unsharted

What even was the point of making the ps4 smaller in the only dimension it didn't need to get smaller?
I don't think there are many tv cabinets that were really stretching the vertical limits with the OG ps4, and sony didn't either since the PS4 pro is thicker.
They could just just made it less long like the xbone s, and while they were at it copied the slight overclock and 4k and HDR

>Sup Forums I'm seriously considering getting a PS4 now.

NOW?

You mean after all the sales, free games and discounted games you want one now? When the best time of the entire year has just passed, now you want one?

Wow, what a huge fucking faggot.

Considering selling my PT PS4, and just sidegrading to the Pro.

Think it's worth it?

>people buy things at different times of the year and I don't

This is what I do. Buy yourself a comfy PS4 slim and use it for comfy exclusives and you're guaranteed to be comfy.

You can transfer PT to the Pro.
