Why isn't this your GOTY?
Why isn't this your GOTY?
Because AM2R came out and wasn't a cinematic experience, unlike Pokemon.
Because Titanfall 2 is.
>XY/ORAS 2.0
Nah.
Because it's yet another step backwards for the series.
it is
its the only game released in 2016 i've played
i haven't had a new console since the ps2, and i'm getting a ps3 for christmas
I'd say that's sad but in all honesty you aren't missing that much with this gen and PS3 had way more better exclusives.
Get Infamous.
it's my third place, titanfall and overwatch won my year
I had enough with White 2 and X. I do not agree with the direction they are taking the series.
it probably is. no other game I bought this year, and there were many, I bothered to play through.
I didn't read a lot about the game beforehand and when I started the game I expected the same game that I played for the last 20 years but I was surprised that they really tried a new approach.
and it works
>I do not agree with the direction they are taking the series.
You don't even know what that means.
They've been mixing it up every time, now more than most, and there is no single direction the games are going in.
You're a retard using pre-made sentences to make yourself sound smart even though they're not remotely applicable.
I like the game but it's hardly a 7/10. Digimon: Cyber Sleuth edges over a little bit for the more versatile evolution mechanic and a better plot by far.
The year isn't over yet, and Rance VI is still coming out at the tail end. Funny how a translation to a decade old game will be better than most of the garbage released.
So now trainers have more than two pokemon at most that you wont destroy in two turns? Less talking?
My game of the year is a content update for a game I've already been playing since 2013.
Shitty story mode and the same shitty competitive "post game" as X/Y/OR/AS. Competitive won't ever be good again until the type chart gets fixed.
Rabi Ribi and Civilization VI are the best this year. S/M is closer a 5/10.
The ten hour tutorial and constant cutscenes
Because I haven't played it.
As far as jrpgs go, Pokemon isn't exactly one of my favorite series out there.
Because XCOM 2 and Dragon Ball Fusions exists.
Silly Original Poster. Theres no way any game could get GOTY because the new remaster of Skyrim just came out last month!
If you don't believe me then I can't recommend it enough that you play it. Not only is it GOTY, but it could possibly be GOTD (Game Of The Decade)
You know what I disliked the most? the MC.
In this game you merely just exist to advance someone else's plot, and for a game trying so hard to be focused on story you might as well not be there except for the above mentioned reason, everyone else has feelings and expression, and you? you just keep the same shit eating grin for the entire game on every situation. Also this game somehow managed to do customization worse than XY, everything is tees, tanks, capris and shorts, and the fucking colors are version exclusive
I kinda got to the point where I just accepted that it was Lillie's story, but I agree with your other assessments. PCs really needed to have distinct facial animations that made them feel a little like actual characters and the customization options left much to be desired. Why can't the male character get a real fedora or a cowboy hat? This game takes place in America damn it.
If Gamefreak wants each generation to be different from the others, why not take Lillie out and have her story be the player's story? It would be the first and only Pokemon game where the player could play a talking character. It would be a nice little experiment and it would really change the starting formula in a way that would be remembered.
Why can't they just make a proper, feature complete pokemon game like BW2, HGSS, Platinum or Emerald again? We haven't had a pokemon game with a good postgame in 1.5 generations.
Also the use of cutscenes in these games is getting absurd. Honestly 3D was a mistake, the battles have shit fps with washed out models and the overworld pacing has been so crippled by the developers wanting to make the game feel similar to the show.
Because all handheld games are trash.
Cause I hit puberty 10 years ago.
too bad colosseum, gale of darkness and platinum sold poorly.
the only hard pokemon game on the 3ds is super mystery dungeon
Wow! That sounds amazing and really fun! I'll go get those right n-
Waaaaait a second.
Oh Todd! You silly goose! You almost got me again!
too many cutscenes
game is the same as always in the end
waste of time and money
Being a nintendo game it's automatically disqualified.
>game doesn't stop shoving a shitty moeblob down your throat and whenever she is relevant the amount of shitty drawn out cutscenes go up heavily
>after the poor XY/ORAS had the redeeming aspects of PSS and competitive prep actually being feasible, SM goes back on all of it
>the new multiplayer hub is a bastard child of PSS from XY/ORAS and Join Avenue from BW2 with none of the good from either
>actually took out battle formats for the first time ever, three of them to boot
>Alola is a pretty boring region in my opinion, has very few interesting setpieces and feels more like a series of hallways than past games
>fucked up trainer customization after XY was just barely passable and everyone was hoping for improvement
>many of the new Pokemon are poor in battle in ways that are astonishingly dumb, not even in a "we never intended for this Pokemon to be decent in battle" way
>not a problem with the game itself since it handled it decently but the confirmation of the multiverse shit has brought out the worst in lorefags
Honestly liked XY a lot more. Only thing I would give SM over XY is soundtrack and difficulty.
Why did Toddposting take off so hard? Did Bethesda get caught viraling here or something?
Because no 3ds. Plus there's other games I'm having fun with. When I get a 3DS I'll pirate the fuck out it though. The girls seem to be top tier and I plan to dress chicken-chan in cute outfits.
Is it true that the 3D models have pantsu? I heard tat theres supposedly a pic showing this.
It's mine because the only other game that came out this year that I invested a lot of time in and thoroughly enjoyed was MHGen but I had a few issues with it.
I ain't no fag who gets mad at opinions
fbpb, HOWEVER, AM2R did have that one sequence that was pretty cinematic but in the responsible way.
>Cinematic Experience
You keep on using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
It would be if I could rematch trainers like in some previous games. I don't want to battle the E4 ten times in a row or spend hours in poni gauntlet. Still enjoy it though.
> tfwTeam Skull makes you not want to play vidya anymore and take back control of your life.
Is there a modern Pokemon game that is actually hard? I've played Silver & FireRed and want something that will be a bit challenging and not just baby dialogue and with some depth.
and has this possibly
Why the fuck do people say dumbass shit like "too many cutscenes"
Are average pokemon players so autistic they can't sit through a simple 1 minute cutscene?
Nope. Platinum and the Gamecube games are probably the closest thing to hard, but I still wouldn't call them that.
There's some decent difficulty hacks floating about of all the DS and 3DS titles though.
Barring ORAS which is definitely not difficult, HGSS was the last game to have rematches.
Platinum is quite challenging especially towards the end
BW2 have a chalenge mode you can unlock which can be pretty tough though you actually have to jump through some hoops to unlock it (you can also unlock an easy mode which, because of quality gamefreak programming, is actually the hardest of the difficulties available though not in a fun way)
You could also try challenges like nuzlocking, speedrunning or limiting yourself in some way like only using shitmons
Because im not 12 or autistic
I'm about 99 percent sure my GOTY would be Odin's Sphere Leifthrasir, but I don't have a PS4 yet.
Really this year the only new games I've played are S/M, Doom, and Overwatch. Not even FE:Fates because I played the fan translation last year.
>implying it's not
also mina is my waifu
As much as I love Pokemon S/M and Lillie, Blood and Wine was amazing and is the best DLC I've played since Shivering Isles and deserves GOTY
I will likely then just replay SoulSilver since I haven't played that remake and FireRed over emulated because for some reason I either read or heard that using Legendary for Elite 4 is cheating and I want to do it without using legendaries.
Thanks for the info, anons. Maybe I'll try BW2.
>DLC
>GAME of the year
That's not how it works user.
Because Pokemon is for faggot 5 year olds and that's why there's a whole board dedicated to contain them.
>first fire emblem, now pokemon
is nintendo trying to becoming the ultimate waifu company?
Because Monster Hunter Generations is the GOTY and the best 3DS game ever.
>> tfwTeam Skull makes you not want to play vidya anymore and take back control of your life.
Glad I wasn't the only one actually taking notes
If it were one occasional one, no one would say anything. However, this entry is entirely centered around having loads of them, and it fucks the pacing hard.
Because I play pokemon for adults.
why is that dog talking?
Very cute!
what dog? I posted a beer.
Because I played better games this year.
Still need to finish this but I can't stand the cast. Made it to Ichigaya. Was the Stephen dlc good?
>doors aren't opening
>SHIT SHIT SHIT
>5 hp
It worked for ES: Oblivion
>mfw the only 2016 games I played this entire year were overwatch, ace attorney, and pokemon
When I think "cinematic experience" I think several hours of unskippable cutscenes, usually with unfulfilling gameplay inbetween.
Pokemon has fit this bill for the latter half of 10 years, if not more.
Tone best girl
I'm enjoying Total war Warhammer too much.
>Why isn't this your GOTY?
It was, back in 1998 when the series first came out.
There hasn't been all that new in Pokemon since, and trading gyms for much the same boss fights that were in gyms previously really isn't changing much.
Because Persona 5 is.
Sun & Moon are way too short.
>1998
>when the series first came out
That was 1996, burger-kun.
I like it but its hardly GotY
cutscenes killed it
Acerola-chan is my daughter-wife!
Should I be interested in purchasing this game guys? I've played every mainline Pokemon up to this gem which I just feel inexplicably meh over and decided to skip.
Rewatching some things though (Brandon Plays Pokemon from EZA is best most comfy modern LP ever) has got me back into Pokemon a fair bit though. Is it worth? Or should I just figure out how to emulate platinum for a challenge?
Did you find yourself playing lots of games but very few that were released this year? That's what i've been doing for the past 3-4 years, games just aren't that good anymore man.
Todd is just a charismatic guy, it's easy meme material
LOTD?
>lets plays
>image.gif
>anime poster
hmmmmm
I don't like the game because there's too much water.
You forgot
>85% of the trainers on the fucking region has 1 pokemon
>gen V leveling system without Audino
>anime poster
Because this is a Japanese site. Go shart in a mart, faggot.
It is my GOTY though.
> i'm getting a ps3 for christmas
I'm getting a PS2 for Christmas
And yet your balls haven't dropped yet.
It's a medical condition.
because im not a child.
you fully grown men still playing pokemon should be ashamed of yourselves.
>2 hour tutorial for a pokemon game
>bad new gen designs
>ruining gen 1 designs
>villains are a bunch of punk kids with no motives
>linear and simplified gameplay
>trying to make a 240p game look good in 3d
Is that enough for you user?
>ruining gen 1 designs
I think you mean making them better
>villains are a bunch of punk kids with no motives
But Team Skull aren't the villains user.
Because Doom, Odin's Sphere Leifthrasir, and SMT Final came out this year. Also I'm sick of pokeman.
...
Pascal a shit. SHIT!
It isn't my GOTY but it's definitely top 3, I really like the changes they've made to the series.
Ya because he-man dugtrio and rainbow muk look soooo good. On top of the gen 1 pandering instead of making something new and cool looking. Like 75% of the new pokemon look like they are from yo kai watch.
Muk is surprisingly fun to use, you should give the poor sludge a chance
You don't need a bag
Just a very strong box
Are there any trainers that aren't the Elite 4 you can battle again?
>bought Omega Sapphire at launch but never got around to playing it
>playing it now after the excellent time that was Sun
Oh my god this is terrible. How did they fuck up these remakes so badly. No matter fucking what Sun and Moon were massive steps in the right direction besides a few things.
Northstar a best
Of all the remakes FR/LG were the best, if only because the original Gen I games are broken as shit (thought the additional content is welcome)
I found the experience in HG/SS to be not quite to scale, which resulted in me being fairly under-leveled by the time i reached Claire.
OR/AS were by far the worst
>Retcons X/Y to be in some shitty alternate timeline despite referencing previous games
>Delta episode was largely pointless
>No Battle Frontier
>No trainer customization
Each time a new game comes out it's as if the director is just shitting on the previous one. First Mega Evolution is a thing and shoved everywhere, then they decide they fucking hate it and retcon it into being a mutation that's potentially super dangerous to Pokemon only to introduce Z-Moves.
>he-man dugtrio
i never thought of that, now i like it a lot more
She's literally "unfinished character with filler dialogue"
They'll probably give her an expanded story in the third game though
>first game was Ruby
>constantly see people who played Johto gush about the first time they played HG/SS
>Really like HG/SS but expect I would like it more if I was a johtofag
>tfw was expecting OR to be what HG/SS was to G/S and expecting to get that level of fan service.
>mfw
I'm definitely going to pick this up.
what are some other must have 3ds games?
>Caught my first shiny in 15 years today
>Shiny Dugtrio
>actually okay nature
