I miss having an MMO on my life. I've never played RO, but it looks up my alley.

Is gathering/crafting a fair portion of the game or is it dog shit?

Game is all about hunting them drops, gearing up, then playing Guild Wars. PvP is really fun and a lot of the classes are super cool too.

Atlas RO is ran by a guy who is a known scammer who ran multiple servers for paypal money and then dumped them. Don't expect it to last very long.

items fall on the ground, you loot them right from the floor. you can craft with some classes. whatever you can more than likely sell off to other players - market is a very large portion of the game. there are even sites like ragnastats.com and ragial that you can use to search prontera for wares (iRO exclusive websites).

the onyl crafting is done by two dedicated clases, one to armors and one to potions, however their crafting aspects are really shadowed in later episodes(patches)

so you either play pre-trans, where crafting weapons and pots is worth it, or play renewal where the alchemist has a shit ton of new and relevant recipes to craft

Fuck. The last two MMOs I really enjoyed were Ultima Online and Mabinogi, but both have gone to the dogs.

I just want some comfy crafting to go with a day of killing shit.

Unfortunately you have to kill but you can play classes like Acolyte or Priest and share EXP w/ them meanwhile buffing and healing.

My suggestion is trying it out and attempting to find a guild ASAP to assist you as a new player. All you're losing is time.

Do NOT play Ragnarok Online. It's a horrible game no matter where you play it. Once you reach max level (if you do), it's 100% p2w spreadsheet manager farming bullshit. You WILL have to spend (a lot of) real money in order to succeed.

People give WoW shit, but you do not and can not spend a dime to get ahead of other players, beyond useless gold.

Seriously go do anything else with your time, like watching paint dry or pressing thumbtacks into your nail beds.

Isn't it too late to play RO at these heights? Implying by good you mean low to mid rates.

its not bad for a few weeks of nostalgia,but unless you really want to get back into pvp or something, likely wont hold your interest long unless you have some people to play with

just play any full pvp server, 99/70 with no customs and youre golden

good guildies make it for me. a little bit of leveling while watching something or listening to music then chatting is always entertaining for me. what i appreciate is that everyone is around my age at this point still enjoying the game.

I've been playing on talonro. Unfortunately the game seems like a massive grind or you literally pay to win after a certain point. I still haven't gotten 99 on a character but it seems rough as shit for most classes.

Uh, wtf are you talking about. Any private server that has more than 100 people has a cash shop. Ragnarok Online is fundamentally balanced around the ability to purchase items from the cash shop.

Consider Nova RO, one of the biggest RO pservers. Rampant cash shop bullshit.

Play on one of the smaller pservers with no cash shop if you want, but prepare to have less than 100 active players.

What RO server have you been on without a cash shop?

Try to merch next time buddy, It may seem hard but really it isn't it only takes a little bit of luck to find good deals.
And you need to learn to read, never said anything about server without a cash shop.

The guy's post said "You cant win RO without spending tons of money." The other guys post was "Clearly you didnt play RO" which would imply he is saying that you can win RO without investing in a cash shop, which is false. Now are you just some random guy who popped into the argument, or are you going to imply your statement meant something completely random and unrelated to what was clearly being discussed?
