I havent encountered any game breaking bugs, and the only rare bugs i encountered were easily fixed with the console, its pretty fucking good but the starting island goes pretty slow, later on you even go to khorinis which they somehow combined with shitton of extra land and jharkendar with no loading screens
I would only not reccomend this if you dont like big areas/maps
Story wise its also pretty cool since it happens pretty much during gothic 3
And your going around trying to stop everything going to shit
Later on you can een choose what island to sail to since you become a higher ranked sailor on the ship

I did some researched and this looks more promising.
I'm not sure if I like overly big maps - what made Gothic good was always the handcrafted maps with lots of detail and secrets, overall stuff to explore - if this is similiar I might give it a shot.

There are quite alot of secrets, and also some parts might feel like a slog to you, like some unnecesary quest that makes you go gather some shit or escort someone, i really cant judge how tolerant you are to such things,as for traveling big areas i use marvin to save time

An example of the secret stuff would be a guy on the starting island telling you like 5 childrens stories he believes are true, but noone believes him, so you have the chance to go find and prove these things, which are all optional and pretty well hidden, also there's quite a lot of loot and valuable plants hidden around and you can minmax pretty good also if you save permanent stuff for when you need alot of lp to level stats thus becoming a fucking beast
