Minecraft when they added hunger.
>The Burning Crusade
Team Fortress 2
Mannconomy and all faggy hat-related shit.
The Culling
This. Burning Crusade was never good.
Pokemon Go
Star Wars Galaxies
?
LOTRO f2p update
t. knower
No Man's Sky base building
Battlefield 1942
Star Wars Galaxies is clearly the most extreme example
Agree
>inb4 a horde of bc babies come in claiming it's the best
Chivalry
this
nah
tf2 is still fun. if you hate hats that much just disable them
This 100%. The hunger meter is so fucking stupid
Halo reach, the updates 343 added ruined the matchmaking and modes.
Alternatively, r6 siege, dust line
Everquest, the expansion where they added the moon.
Darkest Dungeon
Overwatch
Well not that user but TF2's been pretty loose for me lately.
The pub is littered with quitters and the matches are often slow-paced with not much things going on between them.
Archeage
mannconomy was nothing compared to meet your match in terms of fuck my shit up. Game is dead for me now.
Warframe
I was considering buying Subnautica, but some of the recent reviews on steam are complaining about this very thing.
what happened, Sup Forums?
I don't get this meme. What's so bad about it?
this
that
these
I havn't played it for a while. What happened?
Evolution of Combat. They fixed it later down the line, but initially it fucking ruined the game.
You for real? I played it a year back and decided to wait for it to release before playing again. I'm disappointed if this is true.
Ultimate Chicken Horse
A couple months after the release in 2013 the developers completely changed the core gameplay
the fucked with the phyiscs, movement speeds, swings speeds, they made it a slower game with a lower skill ceiling/floor because noobs were complaining they couldnt beat everyone with m1
it would be like going from super smash brothers melee to brawl
they actually fucked with the physics multiple times and now its not even the same game it was when it released, its so SLOW now holy FUCK its slow as shit
Nothing really, every game gets boring one day or another, so as an excuse not to play people chose the easiest to shit on feature. If people wanted to build, there's always creative mode, if people wanted challenge, then why do they even play Minecraft
More like when he added the infinite world gen.
Well I'm not sure if I'm right, and not who you replied to, but when I played on release the combat felt deliberate and forceful.
I played later that year and everything felt just like you had to flail your mouse everywhere and the fucking people that crank their sensitivity up and spin in circles end up blocking everything and hitting you when it doesn't even look like their sword is connecting with you.
I have no idea what they did but i stayed away from it after that
Well, that sucks. I remember having tons of fun with it
Wakfu
Dirty Bomb.
FFXI
The game was chugging along just fine up until they added Legion after Abyssea. While the game was already different from how it started, it was still a really solid game.
The problem with legion is the amount of people you needed. The game had always forced you to party up, but as time went out the shifted focus from Alliance or 18 man content to 6 man and lower content to better match the dwindling player base.
After everyone had just got settled into low man mode, they added legion which tried to shift back to large scale 36 man content after a majority of the content being 6 man.
The idea was interesting, but they added it at a time when there weren't a ton of players and many people were already jumping ship to FFXIV. Initially, unless you had 36 people, there was no way to win.
Later, they made the boss hp scale down for single Alliance of 18 so people could actually attempt it, but it came a bit too late in Legions life span.
Legion is the catalyst that forced FFXI into a glorified single player mode that is a shadow of its former self.
Finally, someone who understands this and doesn't blatantly blame it on Abyssea. When you look at the stats on gear in the 75 to 99 jump that they so often blame things on, it's not that extreme compared to the ilvl increases. I loved aby though for low man content.
I still play, but fuck I hate the game balance right now, especially when it comes to DD's.
Yeah, I remember seeing a screenshot with one of the weapon lines from SoA and thought the +144 skill on some of the stuff was a joke, but it ended up being legit.
I have no idea what the job balance is like atm. Last time I checked in, I heard Bst was the new hotness.
Tribes: Ascend
Bizzarro No Man's Sky
It's all BLU right now if it needs melees, SCH's and BLM's if it needs to be MB'd. BST still has a place though in pussy mode fights where you don't want to be very close to the mob.
The balance problem with BLU is mighty guard and some of their trait strengths, coupled with a solid WS and good gear to go with it. BLU is the only melee DD right now that can self cap magical haste (they get haste 2 plus a buff that gives 15% magic haste under a separate buff status) which means bringing them means you need less supports. It's a real problem for pretty much every other melee DD. BLU isn't even the best damage on paper right now, but in practice people only want to invite it to things due to it being so self reliant and versatile.
Anyway that's the rantings of a NIN main.
Why don't they just make this game f2p and let it coast with a cosmetic or convenience cash shop.
There can't really be enough players where this is making a sizable profit anymore.
Are they scared people will drop XIV for XI if it went free?
Uncharted 2's multiplayer
This is what me and my friends believe killed the game.
It ruined the magic of playing on a vanilla server. Before, you could just make a grand pilgrimage thousands of blocks in one direction if you wanted to avoid griefers, and hide your base by building it sneakily.
Now because of hunger, it makes it pretty much impossible to just group up with your friends and move in one direction without having to make millions of pit stops on the way before reaching your final settlement to make your home at.
It ruined vanilla. Hunger essentially acts as a way to halt player progression, and movement from spawn. 1.7b MC will always be the best vanilla version of the game, so much to the point that people still host servers for it and play it.
I tried going back to Chivalry recently after playing it a ton at release, and you're pretty much right. Game is slow as fuck now and ruins the excitement of the game.
Pretty much this. Part of what made TF2 fun was quickplay (no skill-based matchmaking). Removing quickplay is what killed it for me.
When was that ever good?
modern warfare 2 after nerfing the akimbo 1887
Rift when it was made free2play
fuck Trion and their jew tactics, they have ruined far too many games
AFAIK, U2's multiplayer was always good to 13-year old me; because of the focus on it being a team-based arena shooter where you had to contest power weapons, in order to contest objectives.
Never had a complaint about it, until Uncharted 3 and Uncharted 4 ruined it with loadouts and killstreak awards.
Modern warfare 2 after nerfing the tactical knife
you mean commando?
Modern warfare 2 after nerfing the spas-12
For the first couple weeks the combat felt perfect, then they meddled with it and never got it feeling as good again.
EoC for Runescape but not the reason most people think it is for. EoC was pretty much the solid point where Runescape quit trying to be an idle game that literally a toaster could play but instead a real MMO. As a real MMO (with both a sub fee and a cash shop at the same fucking time) it fucking suck ass and is never worth your money. As a toaster idle game they keep adding shit you can't idle on. Most of the new bosses require you to dodge now or you will die. No one want to play Runescape, not really anyway. They just want to make progress while they chit chat in what used to basically be a chat room. The devs forgot the reason why people love the game in the first place, that and they sold out to people who only want cash. As far as anyone with a brain cares it is a dead game.
Likewise Grand Exchange while not directly ruined oldschool RS. Having people vote on updates on what should been a date set server ruined the game and I believe Grand Exchange started the voting thing.
Sup Forumsscape is the closest to an oldschool server but sadly it is filled with faggots from Sup Forums. So that is dead as well.
I think it's just the fact that people are still happy to subscribe and the revenue they would get from a cash shop is lesser than that of the current sub fees, though it's hard to quantify.
Even if it went f2p, the old school 75 cap people wouldn't enjoy what it has become and people new to MMOs wouldn't really understand the appeal without experiencing the game in its prime.
It's actually in kind of a weird spot, not that FFXIV is any better off right now anyway that people are finally catching on to all of the Simon says boss mechanics and the copy/paste paste style of patch updates. I'm inclined to believe that they don't plan on changing FFXIVs patch content or scheduling either considering how they used to brag how they had content planned for years out.
Big Bang
Runescape trade restrictions.
>he has a problem: griefers
>he has a mechanic: hunger
>he doesn't solve the problem, he blames the mechanic
?
>tfw Dwarf Minstrel and Spider/Worg player
>tfw snaring people so creep zerg jumps them
>tfw 40 man worg packs jumping on targets
>tfw Healing in Lotro with Dread/Hope and being a battle caster with drums
Fuck that F2P update, fuck Turbine for draining the life out of that game.
Shazbot ascend
fucking speed limit
diablo 2
Payday 2
I'm still sad about it. Hold me bros
Trion ruins everything.
Trove
>Chill as fuck game.
>They fuck up the upgrade system to make selling weapons easier.
>Dragon boxes gets released.
>NO YOU HAVE TO STOP DOING THIS AND COME DO THE QUEST EVERY 30 MINUTES!
>Subscription feature gets released.
>Critical Update, stats are now fucked up.
>Classes now cost real money only.
Trion is literal scum. I can't tell if they're worse than Nexon, NCSoft, KoG, or Aeria but they're definitely up there.
FFXI level 99
How?
griefers are part of the vanilla experience.
I'm fine with them existing, but they've gotta earn the right to destroy your shit. If my shit gets destroyed, I want it to be like the old days where they had to look through the procedurally generated map for our settlement like a needle in a haystack.
That just doesn't happen anymore because of hunger. It's impossible to leave the map spawn without hours upon hours upon hours of traveling, eating, making beds, etc and setting up temporary settlements along the way.
Nexon is pretty bad but in comparison while Evan/Dual Blades skill books used to cost real cash only they were smart enough to change that within a few months. Nexon to this day lack a cash shop only class even though they have like 40 classes to choose from.
Their "stop scammers" crusade limited trade which force the GE to be a thing and killed the player run economy. Remember how crowded the banks used to be?
I don't hate the Grand Exchange, in fact I like it. I do think you shouldn't be able to buy literally everything from it. Maybe only the most common of resources like coal.
>he hasn't played on 2b2t, the purest minecraft experience with 100% autism guaranteed
What's wrong with PD2? Keep in mind, the first time I played was right after the Diamond heist came out. Then I played for 2 weeks and quit
it was decently fun tho
Black Desert Online
I got meme'd so hard.
Something like this yeah?
Trion > KoG > Aeria > Nexon > NCSoft
SWG managed to do it twice. First it was the Combat Upgrade, that lost SOE a small but measurable portion of the population and left a lot of others unhappy. Flash forward a couple of years, they vomit out the NGE update which basically invalidates the progress of every player, all classes were condensed down into a small handful and many gameplay elements were simply eliminated.
I was a Creature Handler and my brother was a Droid Engineer, we both dropped the game a week or so after the update after being forced to reclass and being disappointed in the hordes of Jedi wandering around in the open.
Before the update, Jedi were completely end game, requiring complete mastery of many classes and a lengthy quest tree. Even after becoming a Jedi you were subject immediately to bounties being placed on your head any time you used a lightsaber or force powers in public.
After the update, Jedi were a selectable class for all new players. Fucking retarded.
wait is this game out now
i remember Sup Forums back in 2013 made it sound like it was literally going to be the savior of MMOs
Gears of War 3. I'm in the minority to say it was best during the multiplayer beta, but at launch day Retro Lancer and sawn off shotgun were definitely still viable. Within a few months both weapons are completely worthless... Turned the entirety of multiplayer back to only Gnasher.
it turned out to be like all other korean MMOs: pay2win and endless grind with no endgame
what a shocker
Requesting that ms paint comic. You know the one.
>Check out MMO Y!!!! YOU CAN DO ANYTHING!!!
my server isn't even asura (the big server), and I've seen it hit 1500 people playing on a /sea all just last week. When ambuscade came out it hit 2000 I think.
when ffxi was in it's prime, a /sea all on the server I played on (before it got merged) was 2500-3000 iirc.
there's still a lot of people that play and are willing to sub. My linkshell has like 80 active members. People love the world of Vana'Diel too much to leave
>korean mmo
>good
>ever having a slice of thought of it to be remotely good
Your existence is a meme
Like every other promising MMO it got butchered in development in efforts to appeal to a certain demographic, who if memory serves ended up having no interest in the finished product anyways.
Counter-Strike 1.6
Silkroad was good.
why is koru-moru so diddly doodly darn adorable
Came here to post this.
...
So easy to pretend it's not there it may as well not be.
Unlesss it's a group of 20 people you just kill everything on your way and eat it, zombie flesh too.
And I'm sure it's really fun walking for 10k blocks only to be discovered by cheating griefers that have all kinds of detection or even player coordinates, sure the best part of vanilla experience.
>pass fag
>Bitches about optional cosmetics
>Can get lucky and obtain free drops to sell for steam dosh
wat
Unless you were talking about the update that gave the zeds those fucking retarded resistances that Tripwire had to roll back. Making fucking crawlers nearly immune to fire damage and other stupid shit.
I can't remember if the resistances shit was part of the Zedconomy update or not.
The Combat Update was actually a legitimate improvement, it was just sudden and extreme and it took time to get used to it. I really think people mix it up with changes made by the NGE, the game was actually at its peak population in the months following the CU.
>200 hours in kf2
>literally never touched item trading or cosmetics
I can come back after years away from it and still top the leader-board without any effort. But that might be ebcause I have to play on Australian servers
>Big bang
>World of tanks all chat removal for muh safe space
>Tibia blessings and offline training update
>Hunger update
>Whatever was the name of the update that started rebalancing old weapons
>Assfaggot update in that game where you used to build robots with blocks
>Jew payday update
>Pixiv beta skin
>Hiro
>Fakku goes legit
