Demon's Souls is a dead IP and Sony did not "stick with it". Sony was expecting it to be a commercial failure and the president of Sony even said it was "crap" and refused to publish it anywhere outside of Japan. In America it was instead published by Namco Bandai. To Sony's surprise it was a success and gained a sizable fanbase.

But because Sony had mistreated them, From Software decided instead of a sequel to Demon's Souls they would make a spiritual successor. This spiritual successor would retain the core elements and gameplay of Demon's Souls only this time Sony wouldn't own the IP. This would become Dark Souls and would be multiplatform published by Namco Bandai. It would become and even larger success than Demon's Souls and spawn 2 sequels.

Sony would later find success with Bloodborne. But Sony really dropped the ball with Demon's Souls as they didn't see any potential in it or From Software. All of the Soul's games could have been PlayStation exclusives if Sony acquired From Software instead of writing them off.

From Software is an independent company and they've stated they are working on new IP and don't want to be tied to Souls and Bloodborne forever. Sony only owns the IP for Demon's Souls and Bloodborne, not the studio. So if Sony wants to make a Bloodborne sequel they'd need to do it themselves.

Lovecraft had more of a fear of other races mixing in with white races. He wouldn't really mind asians making their own work, but he wouldn't sleep with one.

From Software has always been a Sony partner. Dark Souls is just an anomaly.

That's not to say Demon's Souls is bad, there's just more of a gap in quality between it and the others than there is between Bloodborne and Dark Souls.

IMO: BB > DaS > DeS > DaSIII > DaSII

DaS over DeS solely because of Velka's Rapier and Priscilla's Dagger. They're so fun to use and look really cool. BB I enjoyed most of all. It was a blast through and through.

As for DaSIII and DaSII, I don't dislike them, but obviously I didn't enjoy them as much as the other three. I might change my opinion on DaSIII depending on what the final DLC brings to the table.
