I recall it basically being a decent single-player MMO, but at least at launch it had technical problems prevent me from playing, so I skipped it.

Apparently you're not aware that putting " at the end of a sentence already means "unquote." Because you're an idiot.
It's decent
But you shouldn't buy it. Even if you can get it for pennies, it's EA who gets the money, so on principle you should never pay money for it.
Find a torrent.
It's a decent game, nothing amazing but a decent Fable-esque RPG.
The devs going bankrupt had nothing to do with the quality of the game and everything to do with a fucking baseball player thinking he can into business and stealing millions of dollars from the government to fund it.
It has probably the best combat system in a rpg I have ever seen. Like they saw what God of war and dmc was doing and thought " well damn, maybe we can make combat fun in a rpg for once" and they did just that. The story had interesting elements in it as well like how everyone has a predetermined fate and how your character was one big fuck you to how the world worked
Its the epitome of mediocrity. Doesn't do anything particularly poorly, but doesn't excel at anything either. Some people enjoy it, I found it to be boring as fuck.
Pretty fappable female player models, though.
Pretty good took 130 hours on hard doing every side quest I found and still missed some when I was looking things up after I beat it. I wish more games had war glaves and a class system like it had
...
it's really fuckin good for single play thru. it has flaws but the combat makes up for it. find it on sale for a few bucks.
It's the opposite of Dragon's Dogma.
Both are games a lot of people skipped.
DD starts bland and un-fun but only gets better. KoA starts fun but only gets worse.

I liked it enough. The combat is fun especially if you switch around weapons. Never cared for the story even if most of the time when I play RPGs, I pay attention to the story.
It's a cozy game.
Was like a single player MMO, comfy but dead world.
Brought nothing new to the table AFAIK.
Still better than DD
If EA's getting money for it now does that mean the game's finally paid off Rhode Island?
>Made by the same dev who give us Rise of Nations
But why? They could have done a RPG game around Rise of Legends theme
My problem with it was it was just the most average game I had ever played. I don't really have anything good or bad to say about the game. It's just sorta there.
>Still better than DD
It had better magic that didn't kill the games fps.
>Or shills....but no one to shill for?
[insert Curt Schilling joke because I'm lazy and unclever]
might download the demo to see what it's like. I actually find single player mmos quite relaxing and nice to play inbetween higher priority games.
>that didn't kill the games fps
wut
>state funds a fucking video game
Why did this ever happen?
There were almost no pure dps sorcs pawns on ps3 and xbox version because Malestorm Bolide and glaicels would drop the game to 10 fps. That is why everyone was so happy about the pc release this year.
...
Being able to respec your character whenever you like was a great touch.
And killing everything with Chakrams.
You're right about the FPS drops but there were tons of DPS Sorc pawns available to melt your PS3, and even with console issues DD was far superior to Amalur's three dungeons and five enemies.
I enjoyed it, your mileage may vary though.
It's pretty and has interesting environments, combat gets fairly tedious as you progress, and it's far too easy to break the game.
The game lets you respec anytime for cash, meaning you can max crafting+gemcrafting - and make yourself gear with 100% straight damage resistance plus horribly op bonuses.
>implying consolefags are worth anyones concern
You literally do the same shit in dragond dogma. Mages in KA can summon tornados drop meteors too
The difference is it feels satisfying in DD because the enemies are difficult to kill. KOA is a cakewalk regardless.
Not to mention you missed his point entirely and didn't address anything he mentioned.
If you have nothing else you want to play, then go for it. It's not exceptional, but it's decent fun. As others have stated, the game has pretty good combat but mostly feels like a single player MMO.
They spent way, way too much on it for a niche game.
The attacks in KA have no weight and as other user pointed out you're using them on easy enemies.
Amalur was a game with great ideas but horrid execution.
it's a decent game
nothing great
I enjoyed their take on the elves that adopt the role of legendary figures from their culture's past and keep recreating the same battle against a villianess who just wants to stop living the same life for the rest of fucking time.
There were few non healing mages because everyone wanted healing mages. Literally guaranteed free rift crystals id you make a simple healing mage in cute clothes. Every other class was nigh useless as rental pawns other than completing the Dps/ranged/support trifecta
Play the demo, it's basically all the fun you'll get in the game but for free.
Dungeons are cool at first, but there's only a few different types, and they end up all being the same.
The backstory/lore was cool, but the actual plot is 1000% cliche 'chosen one' 'defy fate' nonsense.
Side quests are all "go here and kill x y, then return".
Some cool things were that you can fight your way through a tournament Colosseum type thing, then at the end you own it. Only problem is that money ends up being worthless in the game because it's so easy to get good gear.
Map is obviously intended to be for an MMO, but there's no multiplayer of any kind.
I paid full price for this shit, and it's one of the few things I actually regret buying. Had to force myself to finish it.
That whole questline was pretty damn good and it was early too so you weren't a completely overpowered piece of shit. Easily the pinnacle of the game.
If I recall correctly, it didn't even perform too badly on market. It was just that they gave it a ridiculously big budget for a game that in all regards was destined to be a cult title.
Whole game feels pretty half baked. It could have been amazing if they had been able to pull off what they were trying. The devs put too much money into big name celebrities to endorse the shit and didn't put enough to making the game playable.
There was some weird graphics glitch where characters eyelashes would appear halfway through their eyes. I thought it was just a design thing at first, having lines through their eyes, but once I got a closer look I noticed that it was just a fucking bug. Made everybody look stupid.
If only it had stayed that way the rest of the game...
Ignore the people saying it's decent, it's not. It's pretty fucking bad.
I think the people saying that it's decent are the ones that got it after the company went under and it was only like, 10 cents. It's worth that, at least.
I actually went on a date with a girl who played it on the off chance cause she was bored and her brother had it on his PS3. She ended up buying a fucking PS3 for it after moving out. She didn't play any other video games.
This game is so fucking weird. The effect it has on people. I pirated it years ago, should give it a try.
Id get it during a sale. I did. Its what most people say the "best" mediocre game. Id does a lot of good but it dosent really stand out. The combat is amazing and the women in game are waifu tier. But the game is bloated as hell and the world is empty as fuck. If you do plan on playing it. Just go through the main story and do some side quests. If you do all of them youll get burnt out before you even get to the second half.
