After playing Dark Souls I have to agree, after dying to the first five times before even getting to the first boss I just resold the game back to a vendor.

It's like artificial difficulty is supposed to make a game 'fun'.

It's a tedious and frustratingly designed game only made popular because of the OH MAN I LOVE SPIRITED AWAY BEST ANIME OF ALL TIME XD crowd.

Not OP but I'll give it a shot, for another game recommendation I'd tell everybody in this thread to try playing Gone Home.

That story literally made me cry, and the gameplay isn't too shabby either. The thing is only $20 on steam too.

I'd pay closer to $40 for that experience, it's like Sup Forums doesn't know shit about video games.

Was playing this yesterday.
I just got to the part where you get your second party member and the ability to catch pokemon.

Combat seems to pick up a bit with a second party member, though trying to control two at once is very awkward.
I think the Tactics menu and setting the AI party members up with generic melee attackers is going to be very important.

The animation and music are fantastic.
The storytelling is meh so far; Drippy is really annoying.

My biggest complaint is how long it takes to travel on the overworld. This is a design decision to make the player feel like the world is bigger than it really is. Hopefully I'll unlock fast travel soon.

I guess it could be bad for people who don't like jRPGs, but then every rpg will look like shit to those people.

I'd stay and argue with people that have valid complaints, but I'm afraid people will be dropping spoilers soon.

You get the hang of combat pretty soon. Once you get to Ding Dong Dell, the game really starts to pick up & get interesting. I'm at the 2nd boss and I'm enjoying it a lot so far. I think there is some kind of fast travel because of those things next to save stones that Drippy says "maybe you can use this one day" about.

Only real complaints are how retarded your party members are and not getting the everybody attack and everybody defend buttons until half way through the game

You unlock it after Hamelin, but it only lets you go places you've already been. You get a boat after the desert and unlock flying near the end of the game.

Do NOT play that fucking Aliens piece of shit fucking game. I bought a two pack for me and my bro and it was absolute SHIT. I love Ridley, I love the Aliens series, this game was absolute garbage.

Art direction and music were fucking fantastic, but my god was that game boring. The combat became formulaic after a very short amount of time, the ability to change between characters kept things a bit fresh, but not for very long.

I wanted to like it, because it was fucking gorgeous and had a sense of nostalgia to it, but I just lost all fucking interest very quickly.

Problem I had with that game was that it was too fucking easy and the story was kinda childish.

Otherwise it was fun as it reminded me of the early Final Fantasy games.

I don't understand the hate this game gets. I play a lot of jrpgs. It's nowhere as good as Dragon Quest 8 or Dark Cloud 2 but it's pretty good. Nowhere as bad as trash like Xenosaga 2. Definitely not amazing but not complete shit like I see here posted a lot. I do hate the handholding though and the combat isn't perfect. I'm glad in Ni No Kuni 2 the new combat is more interesting looking. I just hope it turns out good and not another Star Ocean 5/ Tales of Zestiria.
