All of the 3D SFs have smaller heads than the old sprites. In the old days they had to make the heads pretty big because the pixel resolution was so low. Once they went to 3D I guess they figured there was no need to do that anymore. But personally I think that slightly larger head proportion just looks better regardless of resolution.
