AC isn't some deep or esoteric franchise

I put in a lot of time into the game never really ran into any bugs. (or at least from what I can remember) It's must be better now than before.

I think a lot of people got exhausted from AC games an Unity was sort of the "straw that broke the camel's back" so to speak. My normie roommates even commented on how they heard Unity was shit so they didn't get it.

I bought Unity and was underwhelmed and experienced that same fatigue. As a result of all of this I feel like Syndicaate was largely overlooked by a lot of people but I hear people say it was actually okay.

Assuming that you played it, what is your opinion on it? Nowadays I just play them as collect-a-thons and have more or less given up on the story and combat. Is there anything fantastic and new with Syndicate?

The last refreshing moment I had with the AC series was the Black Flag ship gameplay and that may have spoiled me.

unfortunately time is what a lot of us have plenty of

syndicate was certainly improved and better than the shit that unity was. i would say if you stomached unity then youll enjoy syndicate and should try it. it brings new mechanics that add to the "assassins" feel of the game but it lacks in story just like unity did which makes them feel like a rush job where they only focus on the setting
AC4 was redeemed by the pirating
ACS is redeemed by the grapple hook and better combat
but neither game matches the impression AC2 leaves on you after coming from AC1

I was seeing it for around $8 on Black Friday so I guess I'll just add it to the list of things to buy, then. Another one for the Backlog.

Syndicate was shittier than Unity, the controls were more locked, the combat was complete shite and the characters were almost 1 sided.

Unity is just so bad eventho It probably have the best map design of all AC games ever

Frankly, the gameplay is getting better in each AC sequel; the problem is, it's also getting more boring. 4 is an exception because pirates and ship.
Of course the story and MC are worse than in most other main AC games.
