I'm so glad I bought a used xbox 360 and a used copy of RDR back when I was poor.
And really, let's be honest, you can pick up an old PS3 or 360 for far less than a year's worth of subscription. And if you really wanted to, you could sell the console and game after you're done.

Because there's no reason to continue playing RDR after you've beat it once. It's a one and done affair. This has no value for anyone who doesn't need to subscribe to the mandatory PS+ to buy new games or play online or whatever other service is sold to the Sony fans. I get that service for free on the PC platform.

This is the future I tried to warn people about. When software creators realized they can't possibly stop the rise of piracy, the only solution is to make sure the software is only accessible from their servers directly, which for vidya, is a focus on multiplayer-only blockbusters and streamed content only available through a subscription service.

RDR is a perfect test for this as well, since the rich morons with lightening fast internet, who can't be bothered to just buy a used 360 or PS3, will be more than willing to toss $100 bucks down to a subscription service and boot up the game from their Alienwares.

This leads to the perfect formula for Sony, wherein people who don't have PS4s will start paying for a PS4 service, so if they were to ever purchase a console, the obvious choice would be a PS4 Ultra or whatever the fuck comes out next year. Even if they don't, they're still paying Sony.

You can't stop it. It's the only logical progression. Video games won't be around forever.

I've been using psnow for a couple of days. My biggest complaint is 450 titles and nothing to play. Most of the playabke games, I already have on PC. The ninja gaiden games were nice to play again but other than that I can't see a reason to keep paying for it. The ps2 had a better library. The ps4 will have a better library than the ps3. When they start putting games like NiOh on it then I will pay subscription.

100 bucks is enough to buy a Xbox 360 and a copy of the game if you don't have one or an Xbox One though.

Have you ever used streaming software before? I've used two and both are dead but they still ran perfectly fine without any hitches.
