best roster in the vs series and a cool artstyle, but that's all it had going for it.

i didn't enjoy the gameplay much.

Gameplay is exciting but not actually a good fighting game. All combos, no sense of neutral game tension. Characters get wiped out without ever being used once.

TvC had a better approach.

Cool roster, good soundtrack, awesome visuals, and fun gameplay. My gripes with it were balancing and ho my god the input lag in some versions of the game.

MvC2 was superior

>infinites
You could either play with or without them. I've been to tournaments where we used these. I've also been to tournaments where using said infinites were banned.

>tfw you will never go to another low tier MvC2 tournament

That shit is so fun.

I liked it. Maybe I'll get the PS4 port later on.

the ps4 port online is still ass, but the load times feel a lot shorter, that shit is almost instant.
it looks really nice too

I was playing the 360 version last week and it looks fine.

Does anyone else find Strider to be the most boring nostalgia pick as capcom's rep?

Literally every other capcom rep from an obscure series (or who didn't have a series) are more interesting than him.

Jin was some hot blooded mecha pilot who had a giant fucking robotic arm punch his opponent and even had a super where he pilots a mech and lights his opponent up.

Captain Commando had his own version of assists and a varied powerset.

Guys like Amingo and the pirate lady from mvc2 were also more memorable and unique.

Strider is just a ninja with robotic pets, and frankly the only reason people even remember him fondly is because he had his own special tie in mvc2 with the Doom assist. As a character he's just bland, people only care about him cause of ouroboros. Just like how no one actually cares about Sentinel the character, they care about Sentinel as a top tier. The only character more boring than Strider is hayato who had a literal laser katana and rode in a motorcycle.

Yeah I heard online still kinda blows unfortunately. Oh well. At least the rest of what you said sounds nice.

Loved it. Fun and excecution heavy, and also fixed all of the problems tvc had

This video pretty much sums up MvC3

Who care? Real question is maybe now that both Capcom and SNK have abandoned 2d sprites, can we have a CvS3?

Exciting game that was fun to watch, great character selection but not a very good game if you really want to look into it

While tod combos are fun to watch and perform, it turns every match into get the first hit and then hope for a drop or something so you can hopefully get your one hit in to start a huge dumb combo.

When people talk about if a fighting game is good or not they'll bring up loads of terms, UMvC3 transcended that by being shit and badly balanced in all those regards but somehow still enjoyable. Half of it's faults would have fucked any other game but it just worked

being stoic is a personality too.

i didn't like MvC3 much but if MvC Infinite has Fiona AND Gene, i will instantly preorder that shit.

...

No

Capcom likely don't have the money, SNK certainly doesn't. Capcom's brand has shrunk in relevance (though still able to pull marvel in), SNK is near completely irrelevant. Capcom is working/supporting two fighting games these days which is enough and pretty demanding, SNK has it's employees working in the restaurant below to try and get enough rent.

>Simplified the already simplified button scheme present in MvC2 just like TvC did
>Easier touch of death combos so anyone can pull them
>Unecessary comeback mechanic
>Unbalanced as fuck (not uncommon in VS games, but come the fuck on, this is a modern game that can be patched)
>Designs and artstyle is fucking awful
>Hardware limitations stopped them from having characters people wanted

Fucking letdown, this is what they could come up with after all that time

You're not even worth it.

>>Hardware limitations stopped them from having characters people wanted
?

The main reason given as to why Venom wasn't included, among several Darkstalkers characters

Not that user but I hear they wanted to use Silver Surfer but they didn't know how to operate his surfboard ingame so they dropped him altogether.

Some really questionable roster decisions, but otherwise it was pretty solid. Besides that, it was a pretty fucking good game, my biggest gripe with it is that Capcom dropped their support way too quickly.

I heard this used as a reason why Jin couldn't get in actually. Which is a shame. I'd give my left nut for him to be in Infinite though.

A good game that was a few patches away from being great.
Some of the balancing was highly questionable, and x-factor shouldn't even boost damage, its already extremely good as a universal reset+heal.

>MvC2 was superior

Yeah, X factor is absolutely retarded.

>SNK has it's employees working in the restaurant below to try and get enough rent
Fucking kek.

It was though.

Aesthetically, one of the best fighters to ever exist before Xrd came out and blew everything out of the water. Great art direction, colors, effects, sound design, music, voicing, writing (for the short pre/post-fight blurbs), etc.

Gameplay was great, but it needed a couple system changes (TAC Infinites removed without taking out long TAC non-infinite combos, X-Factor toned down) and some balance (nerf the Top 5, buff the Bottom 5, tweak a few others). Other than that, it's the best game in the Vs Capcom series. TvC and CvS2 are the only ones that come close.

That said, I have hope for Infinite to be great, even if it'll be quite different.

My god, I'm saving that.

I'm agreeing with you, silly.

youtube.com/watch?v=vDgsAef3-Pk

The first MvC was better.

It was more like the engine limitations than the hardware.

Infinite is running on Unreal 4. Not knowledgeable about engines, is that a good thing when it comes to that?

>The only character more boring than Strider is hayato who had a literal laser katana and rode in a motorcycle.

You can fuck off on both points.

Don't really know kinda of limitation would prevent a character being on the roster.

I would say is a good thing. UE4 is a well tested engine with a lot of info about it, it's a safe bet, but that doesn't mean it's bad. Probably a lot better than all the engines Capcom had done in this decade.

You don't like the MT Framework engine?

I dislike touch of death games.

More anons should get on this shit on PS4

I've been playing it non stop since Saturday

>you will never hear Yipes K-brad impression for the first time ever again

This game is more unforgiving for newcomers than every other fighter

Jin, Strider, Hayato and Captain Commando are exactly what this game needs, and we're aren't getting any of them at all, thanks to faggots like you.

Dumb but fun.

I ran Frank/Chris/Spencer.

I watch that video every couple of months and it still kills me.

The skill floor is a bit on the low side, but the ceiling is ever increasing.

MT framework says hi.

>x factor broken
>300% damage buff is od, keep it at 150
>online still shit
>the shilled $40 forced disc dlc preventned normies from buying

>Game with Magic Series combos
>Unforgiving for newcomers
It's hard to block shit at a high level, but if you're starting out you're probably playing people who are going much less crazy.

Virtua Fighter is probably the least-accessible major fighting game series. Great games, though.

What? sf4 was insanely harder. MVC3 all you have to do is ABCD, ABCD, super.

If you're talking about playing right now on ps4 yes you're 100% fucked.

women are playing this game and beating men

yeah im talking about PS4

I never got the chance to play Marvel 3 when it was on 360 so I bought it when they announced it was coming for PS4

Its fun but insanely hard and online is impossible

I suppose now is too late for MVC3 and I should wait for MVCI

And we get it in one

In terms of design as a fighting game Marvel 3 is an abomination. Games are 99% combos 1% neutral.

The game is frustrating to play when you are playing vs people who learned how to abuse Assists and such and only pick top tier characters.

Its super fun vs people who know how to play fighters but are that good at using assists and just pick what they like.

I hate how all the topest tier characters in the games are the ones i dislike.

was fun until people discovered the Touch of Death combos and loops

getting combo'd for 50% of your hp then crossover super'd/DHC'd for the other 50% got old really quick

solid roster and actually well balanced.

Assists was fun but also cancer (Golden Hskio , Doom Missile, Jam Session and OTG assist in particular)

all characters are so qoutable too

>POWER OF THE- POWER OF THE POWER OF THE- RUN....RUN

>HE LOVES ME.....INFERNOOOO

>BIONIC...ARRRRRRRRM

>all those Iron Fist high pitched "OOOH WOO"

>THIS WEIGHS MORE THAN ME

>CENTERION AR- CENTERION ARTS.. CEN- CENTERION ARTS!

>CHARGE...PROTON CANNON

and of course who could forget

>FOOT DIVE. FOO-FOOT DIVE

Doom, Vergil and Wesker being top tier is incredibly annoying and those 3 end up on 89% of teams.

If you don't know how to ToD combo and abuse assists you're not really playing Marvel.

I wreck my friends because they don't get the combo system even when I'm using Iron Fist/Frank/Phoenix Wright

Were there even any notable female (or "female") Marvel 3 players? Street Fighter has a few, but the only woman that comes to mind when I think of Marvel is Yipes's gf, and only for her commentary, not as a player.

Marvel 3 DID have Noah, though.

>Forgetting NOW...IM MOTIVATED

>Wesker

literally fell off after month 2 bruh

nobody used that fucker after level 3 phoenix and Vergil became a thing

I think if they changed weskers counters from Double QCB to a single QCB he would be playable again

Vanilla Sentinal, Wolverine and Phenix was pure fucking cancer

Im also glad that people only found out in the games last years how retarded Dormammu was
>Teleport
>Flight
>Had Dr.Strages level 1 super as a fucking special
>OTG level 3
>THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE FLAME CARPET! BURN TO CINDER! CAOTIC FLAME! THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE THE POWER OF THE

I kinda like how they patched out the "He Loves Me" part of Super Skrull's super, because Capcom was reminded that K'lrt doesn't actually believe in the Skrulls' god.

They totally nailed Dormammu, though. Hardly knew who he was in 2010 and he's one of my favorite Marvel villains now because of MvC3.

It's my favorite vs game.

Sorry friend.

I think you forget the very important fact that strider had AND STILL HAS good games being made about him

I'm going to miss my team of Nova, Taskmaster, and Vergil. With Chris and Dorm subs.

DMC4 Vergil in a fighting game when?

Also
youtube.com/watch?v=UF_8GSI5OHY

>NOT EVEN THE POWER OF ASGARD CAN HUMBLE THE DREAD DORMAMMU

I love the fact Capcom went lenghts just to put fucking Shuma in the game

>went to see strange movie expecting the badass Dormammu I got in MvC3
>Mfw what I got

also I fucking loved "welcome.....to my realm...."

It had some good fanservice between the banter and endings.
I swear there has to be at least one Westaboo working at Capcom.

The pacing of the game is too supersmashified which makes it a buttonmasher. I hope the next one borrows more of SF5 physics. Pretty fun when it came out but got old fast.

You can't possibly want some way for Strange to bullshit him that late in the movie in some sort of single combat.

He'll be back, and that's the better part.

good game. Worse than mvc2 in a lot of ways, but the larger roster of competitively playable characters and faster gameplay make up for a lot of the games faults.

That said, going so long without any sort of tweeks or updates caused the game to become kind of stale.

you can still learn basics. If you can do most of the combo trials before infinite comes out you'll be better at combos/inputs

I fully expect DMC4 Dante and Nero in the base game, but 4SE Vergil and Trish as DLC.

I think Infinite will get around this problem.

A lot of Marvel games get constant support these days. They're mostly Facebook RPG-Lite games or Online Diablo clones, but they get constant updates and a TON of new characters.

That plus Capcom incorporating a Seasons system to SFV gives me hope we'll get continued support.

Yeah I plan on just doing trials / training maybe some arcade

Ill go online in MVCI, I just hope The Punisher makes it in

That's a given, they definitely got a lot of things right.

Going online on PS4 is asking to be fisted by 5 year+ veterans, but the game is still incredibly fun to play locally or spend time in training mode/missions.

I don't read comics and i too was dissapointed by Dormammus performance
I don't even really know what his power is and i was still disappointed

And why was he just a giant flying head in that movie?

That same writer is on board for Infinite.

Because Strange went to his realm. Dormammu would take a more "normal" form if he left his Dimension.

I saw Yipes girlfriend play before, she's not bad.

>Its fun but insanely hard

uhh wut

>light medium heavy launcher into medium heavy launcher

>this works on like 99% of characters

what the fuck?

the skill floor is low the rest is just memorizing ridiculous combos and how to mix up

this game is a walk in the park compared to stuff like KoF , Blazblue andGuilty gear

that's what he just replied to you retard

There's one here in the Midwest. Glasses-chick goes around money-matching people in all the tourneys I attend. She played Morrigan-Doom-Dormammu and was absolute hell to fight against.

But this one Iron Fist player almost won against her.

I'm just saiyan, that the whole badass swordwielding dude archetype that he held was displaced by Vergil, even more cause Vergil's swords are pretty much a better ourorboros. Hell you can argue he's been displaced by Dante, and if not those two guys like Blade will also render him irrelevant if he makes the cut. No one can replace Jin or Captain Commando, they all have unique playstyles and are prob the most "pure" mvc characters on the capcom side. In a perfect world all those guys would make the cut, but this game's going to have one "nostalgic" capcom rep from an obscure franchise and he might not even come till DLC, and it's going to be Strider.

I like how you can simply ignore anyone who complains about "touch of death combos". Makes looking for the actual valuable opinions and analysis much easier.

Balance was fucking shit.

All I see are fucking Doom and Magneto with their fucking easy to start infinites. Granted, the third character usually ranges from Morrigan to Dante to Skrull, but holy shit am I tired of hearing "FOOT DIVE"

>only bought it because Ammaterasu from Ōkami was in it

I want Jin back so fucking much.
But I pray that if he does, he retains his hype as shit voice actor from MvC2

Marvel 3 does have a legitimate ToD problem, but it mostly came from unintentional development. Hit stun decay and set hit stun on certain characters wasn't calibrate well enough or something to that effect.

Why do game devs not use GGPO?

>Midwest

It actually doesn't. You can at most take off around 1/3rd (give or take, because different characters have different life totals, and thus make up a different percentage of a players life total) of a players life total.

consequently "around 1/3rd of a players life" is the ideal amount of damage for a combo to be doing in a fighting game.

Because most fighting games come from Japan
A country that has some of the best internet infrastructure in the world along with being geographically small.
They don't optimize their netcode worth a shit because... they really don't have to to have it work just fine in their home market.
Simple as that, they're just not focusing on the global market even if (depending on the title) is the majority buyer.

Jin will always be the epitome of the mvc franchise to me.

I'd kill to see a 3d Blodia Punch, that would be the hypest shit ever. His taunts were also hilarious as well as his exploding clothes. I'm honestly surprised he's not more popular, I guess tiers really do dictate character popularity.

Top tier killed it. The closer we got to shake the meta was when Champ started ysinf Dormammu to counter Morridoom, but even then, it was easier to use lv3 Vergil.
