God I hope this doesn't turn out to be shit.
Too many exciting games do nowadays.

So what's the verdict boys? Are we do for the game that will finally dethrone Ocarina of Time?
Or will something tragic happen that holds the game back at the last moment?
>dethrone Ocarina
more like dethrone WIND WAKER HAHAHAHA
I'm just hoping it'll be better than Squidward Sword. I'm liking the idea of a throwback to the more open world zelda's but it could turn out to be heavily streamlined which could defeat the purpose.
>getting hyped for a modern game
>ever
You're just setting yourself up for disappointment
She's cute, what's her name?
It probably won't even dethrone WW. The best we can realistically hope for is that it's better than Skyward Sword.
Link
>Thinking Ocarina will ever be dethroned
>more like dethrone WIND WAKER HAHAHAHA
Sarcastic or not this is correct. Wind Waker is the game that Aonuma is aiming to surpass
Why is Link so cute in the game?
Because he hasn't bee ruined by forced story drama yet.
Link is always cute
It'll be great if you keep your expectations realisitic. Probably not the best in the series but could make a run at the top 5. Top 3 and it'll be an enormous success
The only Link I find cute is Toon Link
Fight me
There will absolutely be some colossal fuck-up
Some options off the top of my head
>master sword received 1/3 of the way into the game renders all other weapon pickups useless
>inversely, temple items useless because degenerating pickups are much better
>ends up being incredibly grindy
>first 10 hours of gameplay is cutscenes
>towns are pointless other than shopkeeper and inevitable weapon repair/upgrade vendor
>only one sidequest, and it's to get the biggoron sword
>world is fun to traverse for about 5 minutes
I really want to be excited for BotW but their track record proves they're going to ruin its potential
>>master sword received 1/3 of the way into the game renders all other weapon pickups useless
The only thing that could possibly ruin this game now is if there is some horrendous SS level of hand holding
Everything I've seen so far has already made it at least on level with WW and just below OoT and MM and if the game truly is as large as claimed with plenty of side quests and characters it will definitely surpass OoT and MM to me at least
Biggoron sword was fine in a game with one other sword to chose from (and iirc you couldn't use your shield when it was equipped?)
It would be a different story in BotW which looks likes it's geared around picking up weapons as you go
The game's already better than Majora's Mask
it's ok user, Toon Link is cute
Nostagliafags always get butthurt when I point this out, but BotW's design is clearly an evolution on Wind Waker's more than any other game.
In WW, there were still enemies you couldn't kill with your sword even after getting the Master Sword and enemy weapons still had their uses like throwing for a long range attack or breaking certain obstacles
I expect BotW to improve greatly on this concept.
user I know you wanted to bait but let's just calm down here alright
Why? BotW looks really good while MM was always a middleish Zelda
Nintendo has repeatedly said it's Ocarina of TIme they're copying and Twilight Princess the game is a spiritual sequel to. And they never once mentioned Wind Waker.
But Ok.
>And they never once mentioned Wind Waker.
youtube.com
Also, Nintendo is full of liars anyway. Looking at the actual game it's balatantly building off of Wind Waker
Since they're changing a bunch of the Zelda conventions, I'm kind of hoping Zelda turns out to be the villain.
IF the old man is Ganondorf and not the King of Hyrule, then I'd imagine a twist where Zelda is either controlling Calamity Ganon or something else, and plans to wipe out Hyrule and have it replaced by something new is completely possible.
It would be a very dangerous foe, absolute power controlled by absolute wisdom, but lacking the courage to step outside of their safe little castle to see that the world is doing just fine without her.
It's also building off of Twilight Princess. In the newest trailer it reveals the fountain from TP's Castle Town.
He specifically goes into how the game is not like Wind Waker. How does that help your point?
It's a TP offspring.
>the shield surfing
>item combinations in real-time or pausing
>seasons changing
>OP'd warping ability
>huge world and focus on horseback riding
There is nothing from Wind Waker in the game other than that asian guy from Treehouse saying "the game is really about taking your enemy's weapons and using that to your advantage in order to steal better ones from stronger enemies" or something to that fact. You could say Wind Waker started that. That's it.
Didn't Aunoma said he wanted to stop using OOT as a base for 3D Zelda games?
I think for a story, that'd be cool, with Zelda anticipating Link's every move and having the mental prowess to keep him in the dark.
Makes for a poor final conflict though in an action game.
What would be cool, is that Zelda becomes the villain, because years of holding back calamity Ganon has corrupted her and turned her evil.
She then uses her magics to take the triforce of Power from Ganon leaving the old man
What will most likely happen though is like every other game where Zelda becomes an evil puppet for Ganon and Old man isn't Ganon at all.
No he said it's his dream to someday top Ocarina of Time. And
>According to Aonuma, the keyword this time is “something new.” Ocarina of Time was a huge leap for the Zelda series and since then Aonuma explained, “I think the base of our secret sauce has always been Ocarina of Time. But this time, the change in flavor will be like going from Japanese food to Western style food. Perhaps, players will be surprised.”
>“Please look forward to it, because I think we’ll be able to make ‘something new’ like Ocarina of Time was,” Aonuma added,

>It's also building off of Twilight Princess. In the newest trailer it reveals the fountain from TP's Castle Town.
I'm talking gameplay wise. Storywise I do think it's most likely a TP sequel, but a lot of the concepts BotW is going with for its gameplay are things that started in Wind Waker such as the ability to take enemy weapons for yourself and the general focus on an oversized open world.
>He specifically goes into how the game is not like Wind Waker. How does that help your point?
Because he's explaining the ways it's improving on Wind Waker dumbass. He's lamenting the things he couldn't accomplish in Wind Waker that he can now
>>huge world and focus on horseback riding
You do realize that TP started out as Wind Waker 2 and was going to have both those things as well right? TP's world was painfully linear and bottlenecked despite its size though
>There is nothing from Wind Waker in the game other than that asian guy from Treehouse saying "the game is really about taking your enemy's weapons and using that to your advantage in order to steal better ones from stronger enemies" or something to that fact. You could say Wind Waker started that. That's it.
I don' care what Reggie or Treehouse cocksuckers have to say. I know what I'm seeing and after 15 years it's easy to get the way Aonuma thinks
>No music in the overworld
>Shit music when there is music
Really close to fucking dropped with that alone.
so when dark souls doesnt have music 99.99% of the time, it's considered atmosphere but breath of the wild isn't allowed to do that?
>You do realize that TP started out as Wind Waker 2
Yes. Thanks for reiterating an earlier thread that reiterated information from 2005.
>I know what I'm seeing and after 15 years it's easy to get the way Aonuma thinks
Slow down there David Blaine. How do you know that's not what he wants you to think?
That's a really cool idea that I think would be a fresh change for the series. I do think however that it'd receive a lot of backlash from the purist faggots that think Zelda should always be the innocent waifu that should be saved
When a series known for leitmotif with several songs as ingrained into pop culture as heavily as Zelda drops music? Yeah.
Nobody was fucking talking about Dark Souls but there are some pretty fucking fundamental differences in core design at play here. Let alone the overall mood either franchise typically evokes.
Zelda isn't desolate. BotW is no exception. Zeda is NOT a highly technical action adventure game where points of combat are carefully constructed to lend to its level design and every encounter is meticulously staged to engage the gamer in unique fashions. To the point that every sound an enemy makes is a crucial tell.
Zelda was designed around its world first, with each section of it given a unique theme. It was leitmotif 101. Colleges have taught from past Zelda titles on the matter.
You're a fucking retard.
post /cuteboy/ Link
>Slow down there David Blaine. How do you know that's not what he wants you to think?
Because he's not that complicated to figure out. Wind Waker has always been the Zelda game he's proudest of making and the one he always goes back to when presented the opportunity to do what he wants like with the DS games.
TP was made under pressure to please the OoT crowd. SS was made under pressure to build an adventure game. Breath of the Wild is the first game that Aonuma's had true creative freedom with since Wind Waker itself, and thus it's obvious he's going with the Wind Waker 2 he wanted from the start as well as mixing in some Skyrim because Japs loved that game.
Of course he can't say that because Nintendo needs the normie crowd to buy the game for any hope of success and to do that they need to advertise it as another OoT or TP and you're eating it right up.
When I compare BotW to Wind Waker, I mean it as a compliment because it's still the best game that Aonuma has made and BotW is improving on it in almost every way.
>Too many Zelda games do nowadays.
fix'd
How cute?
your post Really caused my neural cells to depolarize by opening gated channels in the membrane and passively diffusing potassium ions out of the cytoplasm down its concentration gradient leading to a sequence of action potentials to stimulate in accord with long term potentiation pathways developed through the release of seratonin at key moments of sensory input while also really fires up my electric pulse that travels down the axon until it reaches the synapses, where it then causes the release of neurotransmitters. The synapses are extremely close to the dendrites of the target neuron. This allows the neurotransmitters to diffuse across the intervening space and fit into the receptors that are located on the target neuron. This causes some action to take place in that neuron that will either decrease or increase the membrane potential of the neuron. If it increases the membrane potential (makes it more positive, or depolarizes it.) then it is exciting the neuron, and if it decreases the membrane potential (makes it more negative, or hyper-polarizes it.) then it is inhibiting the neuron. If it causes the membrane potential to pass the firing threshold then it will activate an action potential in the target neuron and send it down its axon.
*build an adventure game for the Wii Motion Plus.
The leaf-kokiri and the deku-leaf style glider are from WW. Not to mention the open-world is much closer to WW than it is TP.
But realistically the game will build off of both. They were both successful mainline zelda games that undoubtedly heavily influence BotW, so petty fighting about which one BotW is most like is pointless (especially before we can even play it)
Link thread?
I've seen people take more damage in 15 minute BotW demos than I did in all of SS.
Seeing a Lizalfos deal 7.5 hearts of damage in one hit is what's keeping my hype up.
the lewdest
...
The point is to expose the massive hypocrisy. The same people who think Aonuma has a sick obsession with Wind Waker are the same ones who bitch if you dare draw connections between BotW and Wind Waker.
Where's his pants go? Why can't his grandmother get underwear that's the correct size for him?
No game will ever dethrone OoT, it was revolutionary for its time because 3D gaming was still primitive and people didn't really know what could be accomplished. Now, it's pretty much a solved medium, there aren't really any ways that a developer can push the boundaries anymore.
>mmimmzel will never do lewds
i took them
Well Wind Waker is a bad Zelda game, and Breath of the Wild looks nothing like it to me. I only consider Phantom Hourglass seriously when it comes to the DS games because Spirit Tracks was abysmal. It's obvious why he made that. Wind Waker deserved a sequel at least from a story point, and no better way than to make it portable. But he also worked on Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, and The Minish Cap which are both his best works by far.
You don't have to advocate his importance to me. I appreciate his input and I honestly don't think the series could have been placed in the hands of anyone better. I think Fujibayashi and Iwamoto are the ones who ruined Zelda.
But the fact remains, The Wind Waker is Aonuma's lowest point. I don't consider ST (the worst Zelda tied with SS OAT) to be his work, because Iwamoto called the shots on that one.
Give them back. He needs them.
no
>all these mental gymnastics
Ico didn't have overworld music either. Nor shadow of the colossus. Both are fantastic games and have nothing to do with dark souls. Get fucked.
Also
>Shit music when there is music
It's just your shit taste, really
youtube.com
Plenty of reasons to like music direction in this Zelda game.
It was an upgrade that you had to work for which was sometimes better than the master sword, depending on situation. No reason that can't be true in BotW. Maybe you can upgrade spears, 2h swords, fire rod, etc so much that they'd be better than the master sword in certain situations, or maybe better until they break.
It'd still make foraging and collecting worthwhile while having the master sword
reeee gtfo
It won't be "shit" but don't expect it to be great either
>Well Wind Waker is a bad Zelda game, and Breath of the Wild looks nothing like it to me
You're only saying that because you're desperate to deny that Wind Waker is a good game. Breath of the Wild looks good because its showcasing an enhancement of WW's best traits.
>But the fact remains, The Wind Waker is Aonuma's lowest point.
He'll never see it that way. In his mind the controversy has blown over and the game is as beloved as the rest.
The only male that every other male in the universe would gladly fuck him.
Now he's too embarrassed to go outside.
Ico is not Zelda.
Shadow of the Colossus is not Zelda.
Dark Souls is not on the table for discussion.
The sparse musical chimes are shit in the context of the series' musical legacy.
>Muh Youtuber's hot opinions will surely stand in for my having an actual thought myself.
Kindly go fuck yourself.
I do love how the video is accompanied with more musical score than any video of BotW.
Knowing -why- a decision is made is not a stand in for liking it, dipshit. The game still sounds like a sparse and shitty soundscape in play.
"revolutionary for its time" is just another way of saying "no longer holds up"

Not him but I gave WW a chance and it was boring as hell. There is nothing to do on the islands and sailing is a waste of time with nothing to do. It also looks like shit compared to OoT and MM
That's fine, but I'd warn against getting hype for BotW unless you like the idea of doing that same shit on land.
...

...
miss me with that gay shit nigga
Not really played a Zelda game since Spirit Tracks. Started playing Skyward Sword after hearing people say it was a breath of fresh air and changed things up. Fucking hell why lie, the only thing thats changed is the motion control which are awful
Pit is shit tier anyway
wow thats super rude
No, things were changed up. The level of handholding was jacked up to obnoxious proportions, there was pretty much zero level of exploration and the only positive change is the fact that Zelda is a qt that you actually want to save
And super true. Probably suffers from chronic limp-dick which is why Palutena always brushes him off
>the only positive change is the fact that Zelda is a qt that you actually want to save
No wonder I hated the game so much
How wrong can someone be?
>Pit upskirt shot
why
KI:U is the best game on the 3DS, but Pit is the worst thing about it though I am amused by his completely in ability to comprehend any shred of philosophy or morality
>sailing is a waste of time with nothing to do
I feel like sailing is a polarizing feature. Either you like it or you don't. As an island boi who has gone boating, WW absolutely NAILED the sailing experience.
I thought Pit was pretty fun in KI:U. His interactions with Hades were some of the highlights of the game for me. Hades is the best character in the game though.
...
It's funny because Hades and Viridi are exactly right about him, but he's too dumb to realize it.
I said it's a bad Zelda game because it's a bad Zelda game.
It's the first console Zelda that's 100% linear because the focus was too much on items.
The game introduced locked auto-jumps. MM had these but it also had regular control like OoT.
First Zelda game to have a slow start. It's nice that you can go back to Windfall after you get the Wind Waker, but that's over an hour into the game.
The only thing good it has going are the story, visuals, and music. From a gameplay standpoint it's in the bottom five games.
how do people defend this shit? 90 scores all round as well
>It's the first console Zelda that's 100% linear because the focus was too much on items.
That was Majora's Mask
So, there will be pieces of heart and heart containers on BotW?
Nah, you can use the Hookshot to tether across Ikana Canyon if you stand on the edge and shoot the tree. You never need the Ice Arrows outside of Great Bay.
...
Which still requires you to at least go the Pirate's Fortress.
LttP and OoT offered several branching paths for how dungeons were completed.
As hated as it was, you could work on WW's Triforce Hunt before even getting the Master Sword
Despite all of these things I actually enjoyed the game for some reason. I guess I found it charming, I dunno. It helps that the dungeons were decent and that the bosses were good. Also I thought the final boss was fantastic.
It's open world. It already can't be as good as Ocarina of Time.
The only game to have done openworld correctly up until this point is Xenoblade Chronicles X.
>Xenoblade Chronicles X
People tell me it's inferior to the original
Pirates Fortress isn't a dungeon. And I'm well aware of LttP and OoT, and the first two Zeldas.
The Triforce Hunt isn't the problem. Either way you have to do that eventually in a certain order because you need the Hookshot for two of them (the one on those castle-like islands and the chart in the Ghost Ship).
What the fuck was up with the character models in Xenoblade Chronicles? They looked blurry and ugly as fuck, specifically the faces.
>Pirates Fortress isn't a dungeon
Yes, but it's still a big chunk of what you have to do in Great Bay. It's painfully linear compared to what you could do in OoT
There are some parts that are good but it's mostly overshadowed for me by the shitty overworld, quests and npcs
