Sega CD version was better
I beat the iphone version and it was phenominal
>ps1
gee grandpa
how many horses did it take to power that mashine?
meme
>mashine
apparently the ones meant to take you to school
>Sup Forums is now so underage the ps1 is old
Shouldn't you be watching a twitch stream
This. Getting rid of random battles in order to make the dungeons smaller and the monster only appear as little green blobs was pants on head retarded. Not to mention a lot of the humor in the Sega CD version was cut.
I don't know if I liked Lunar 1 or 2 more, to be honest.
Lunar 1 has more memorable main characters but 2 mixes up story progression a lot.
That's NOT Grandia I nor Legend of Legaia nor Legend of the Dragoon nor Legend of Mana nor Final Fantasy IX. As such it isn't even in the top 5.
>doesn't mention Suikoden 2
>doesn't mention FFVII
>doesn't mention Xenogears
Whew lad!
hello underage
Neither version originally had the type of WD humor that was in them anyway.
The bigger problem was the tone of the CD game was better and Ghaleon was much more menacing.
Trying to make him a more sympathetic villain was a misfire.
And so was toning down the game's difficulty in favor of bloating boss HP to make them into boring damage sponge battles.
Something about the character design was off. It was like it's designed by a high school graduate who didn't quite grasp a proper design. Everything is so generic.
>LoD
>FFIX
How to spot PS1 jrpg fans with shit pleb taste.
LoD is such a boring, subpar bore it's painful.
Grandia was better.
>doesn't mention Final Fantasy Tactics
>doesn't mention Legend of Mana
>doesn't mention Vagrant Story
>doesn't mention Parasite Eve
wew
>being this wrong
The first person already listed Legend of Mana you mong.
Fuck me, you're right.
Replace that with Persona 2 or Front Mission 3 or something like that.
Are we counting sRPGs in this?
I don't see why not.
>PS1
>games
when will they learn?
Alright, then FFT goes in for sure
Goddamn, you have some shit fucking taste.
these niggers have the right idea.
thats not ff ix though, user. you seem to have posted the wrong picture.
So, I have Lunar, Valkyrie Profile Lenneth and Growslanser 4 for the PSP. Are they good ports? Did anyone managed to translate Suikoden I+II?
If people these days count fucking arpgs, srpgs should count.
They're way closer to traditional jrpgs than arpgs are.
The only real differences are the addition of the grid to the turn-based combat and the fact that most of them don't require you to manually travel from place to place.
That's not Star Ocean 2, OP.
Grandia is godly.
Otherwise you're perfectly correct. Legend of Dragoon is really overrated and kinda mediocre.
But that's not Breath of Fire 3
anyone?
That's not Suikoden II though.
I'll accept that Dragoon is too contentious, and IX has been shitposted to death in these boards already, but Grandia, Legaia and Mana are perfectly good games you quadruple nigger
Lunar 1-2
Grandia
Vagrant Story
Final Fantasy VII, Tactics, Anthology (for bringing V West)
Xenogears
Ogre Battle
Tactics Ogre
Front Mission 3
Vandal Hearts
Wild Arms 1-2
Valkyrie Profile
Koudelka
Persona 1, 2EP
Dragon Warrior VII
Suikoden 1-2
Parasite Eve
SaGa Frontier 1-2
Vanguard Bandits
Threads of Fate
Breath of Fire III, IV
Arc the Lad 2
Brigandine
Legend of Legaia
Legend of Mana
Star Ocean: The Second Story
How can you even narrow those down to a top 5? Or even 10.
...
Grandia, Vagrant Story, Front Mission 3, Wild Arms 2, Parasite Eve
That was easy
I liked the second game better.
>5 versions of Silver Star
>only 2 for Eternal Blue
This is bullshit
You monster.
let me guess it was full of animu shit and baka baka theme
b&
star ocean was better
Wrong.

my fav ost
Lunar's port is...eh. The super moves are a nice touch, and it's about as pure of an adaptation as possible in terms of story, but it's way too easy because of the moveset changes, and it feels like you level up a good bit faster too.
Fave version of my fave track, though let's be honest, the whole OST is great.
youtube.com
a fucking hivemind
sword dance!
dragon breath!
Star ocean is shit. Pure shit.
Not even the best Lunar.
not bad
yeah that is why i like it because it's pure generic
I used to keep my PSP by my bed every night so I could masturbate to the bromides. Jessica a cute.
7 and 3 technically.
SSS: Sega CD, PS1, GBA, PSP, and iOS
EB: Sega CD and PS1
What am I missing?
Silver Star: CD, Saturn, Saturn MPEG, PS, Legend, Harmony, Touch
Eternal Blue: CD, Saturn, PS
All versions are at least slightly different. Although to be fair, the two Saturn versions and the PS version of SS are all virtually the same, as are the Saturn and PS versions of EB.
Every single one but 2 is shit. 2 is the diamond in the rough.
I disagree. 2 is the only one I ever played and it was pure trash. If it is the best of the series, I can't even imagine how terrible the others must be.
Is Vanguard Bandits any good? It looked like a discount Front Mission to me.
Story and were forgettable. Voice acting was legendary bad. It has singing. Combat was unique for the time, but implemented poorly. Suikoden II exists.
>greatly raise attack
>then use a special attack move
Lunar 2 was better.
There was such a multitude of quality RPGs on one system back then.
You can't find 5 good RPGS on the current gen consoles put together.
Suikoden 2
Wild Arms 2
Star Ocean 2
Persona 2
Megaman Legends 2(?)
Lunar 2
These
Nigga please, that's not even the best Game Arts JRPG on the PS1.
It's a poor man's Rayblade ripoff, which is a poor man's Masoukishin ripoff to begin with.
Sure you can
They're all ports of PS1 games :^)
I loved Threads of Fate back in the day but when I tried going back to it last month I found the ancient interface to make it unplayable. Wish they'd do a remake or something.
I've replayed Lunar, Suikoden, Wild Arms and Star Ocean in recent years and they all held up relatively fine, though.
Definitely one of the best. Great story and characters, great worldbuilding, charming, funny localisation, and also reasonably challenging as far as JRPGs go. Really fun and memorable game.
Also voting that Sega CD version was superior.
>Red Alert on the PS1
For what purpose
Actually, wasn't there also an Age of Empires port? How the hell do you even control your units?
Sega Saturn MPEG edition is the best!
>only Bushido Blade 2 instead of the superior original
9/10 collection, almost perfect.
>the bath scene
I remember that boner fondly
