So, Sup Forums, how long do you figure we have until physical games cease to exist?

both of those are terrible
games use compression, and they too are affected by rotational velocidensity
I think the only way around it is using a SSD
carts, of course, are also a viable option
Physical media is trash and takes up too much space. I have actually started tgrowing out my game boxes and jus putting the disk and sleeve in a binder. Fucking waste of plastic

at least (on console) it lets you play while it installs/downloads nowadays but doesn't change that the physical copy is virtually useless on its own and is essentially a more cumbersome digital version
>tfw you buy a new game and you're hyped to get home and play it
>rotational velocidensity
I thought I'd never see this meme again in my life
>meme
it's very real, a quick search on google even gives you a clear explanation
What I mean to say is that you get this feel from physical copies, but you don't from digital.
>tfw you can't get high sniffing manuals anymore because there's just as single sheet of paper now
>using a SSD
>ever

last game I bought was the Division for $10 off Amazon, it came with a Uplay code but also had 5 discs, yes five, for installing.
It's ironic how most PC gamers don't own Blu-ray drives so we have to actually use old media to install stuff. I had to dig out a USB DVD drive and switch all five discs out to get it set up.
that post was a joke bro
thanks, I wanted to post that too in another post but I had forgotten where I saved it
why don't they fill the center of physical discs for more grahix?
>have 192kbps music from over 10 years ago
>somehow file sizes aren't 10x lower
Why even live.
the invention of superconductors will allow us to levitate our discs for maximum storage space, aka 'the donut hole effect'
I am being rused on multiple levels here because both of those are physical storage.
it's like a bag of chips
they put a special nitrate ring through the middle of the discs when they make them to keep the data fresh
...
what if you just spin the SSD
problem solved
>hard drive dies after a few years
>cds and cartridges die after a few decades
>have game downloaded and preloaded
>getting max comfy as 12am approaches
>settled in ready to play at 12:01, excited and comfy
>rotational velocidensity
Thank you for this
They can't handle the magnometric rotation. It erases their QPU.
Cd's are already dead. The lady physical copy I brought was either resident evil 6 or splinter cell blacklist
Hot.
>at least (on console) it lets you play while it installs/downloads
Most games just lock you into a demo/tutorial level until the actual game finishes installing. The "play while you download" thing is nothing more than a meme to market consoles.
better than nothing, although most I've used that with (jrpgs mostly) did let you play a fair way ahead, typically finished downloading before I reached wherever the limit was
also, it does let you play while you download for patches (unless it's a mandatory patch anyway) -- on PS3 you couldn't do that and had to disconnect the PS3 if wanted to play without having to wait for a patch
That's why you should buy the one with silicothermal carbon coating, and secure it on an anti-electrovibromatic mount.
