To be fair the original game was pretty hard since you were confined to the shitty ps1 dpad which had horrendous amounts of input lag.
That's also why DSP sucked way more than usual during his Crash 1 marathon, even if he's a drooling retard.

It really isn't. The only hard part in the level is so easy if you've preserved the one mask you get up until that point. It's really short and it's a straight path to the end of the level.
SeeI picked it up again after not playing it for ages and I was up to Slippery Climb. ALMOST did it without dying, but it really is quite difficult. Those uneven rotating platforms are a real bitch to judge correctly.

All levels were easy for me after I played through the game for 10th time, real difficulty starts when you try to get gems
