Why don't many Sci-fi games utilize Power Armor? It's either ugly crycis nanosuits or putrid plastic sheeted garbage like in Halo and Mass Effect.

40K armor looks too outdated for todays standards.
Not him but I have to disagree, 40k armor still looks fantastic for todays standards.
You say that as an outsider or as a 40k fan?
Halo armour (pre-343) >>>>>>>>>>>>>> 40k armour.
40k fan, but I have plenty of friends that enjoy 40k armor a lot more than what we see today, mainly what OP said. I was surprised, I figured people would think it was outdated as you said, but again, I AM a 40k fan so I'm biased.
To be fair though, I've never really cared for that slim type of armor like in Halo or the new CoD games. I liked the armor in Mass Effect though.
care to elaborate? Most normies seem to eat up the idea of Space Marines. Even the "Female" ones too. The Armor is very iconic. Is classic Power Armor really outdated?
Every fucking sci fi game uses some form of power armor
++ Attempting to derail thread, Standby ++
Video games are no longer vapid power fantasies for men. They gotta be steep in muh realism and be ALL INCLUSIVE these days. What, you didn't know?
Bolter bitches have power armor so it isn't a thread derail at all.
Ladies you should arrest me because what is in my panties is heretical as fuck
HNNNNNNNGH
Not him, but I never got into WHK because I can't buy anything related to it in shitty place, and importing would cost me too much.
But most of the Space Marines / Armor I've seen look glorious.
BEST POWER ARMOUR MARK COMING THROUGH
your power armor isn't good enough if it can't gain free will, destroy worlds and timelines and make you really fucking angry
terminator armour for best power armour design of all time
i like their aesthetics
their sexy corset armor and skirts
the angelic rocketeers
the nun cowl/habit headgears for the high ranks

What is the difference between a Space Marine armor and the normal armor of almost every sci-fi setting? Because from what I've seen the most differential thing would be its resistence and that is partly justified because of the huge size of the Marines and thus its plates can be heavier and wider. In fact thanks to the black caparace they move like a normal human in "basic" armor would, or even faster.
Terminator armor on the other hand has more benefits and equipment.
Why are Terminator marines always based?
...
Because they look better
What a nice bunch of hats
...
Since the subject is armor, let's talk medieval too.
Why don't medieval RPGs have cool and customizable armor systems?
It always seems to be "craft steel plate armor". Why not something like:
>Craft steel breastplate (nonwearable)
>Craft steel backplate (nonwearable)
>Combine the two with leather straps to get a wearable steel cuirass that can be worn over some leather armor
>Combine the Cuirass with some pauldrons, tassets, and vambraces to get a full plate top
>Then put together some platelegs and a helmet
>THEN you have full plate armor, but can wear some pieces individually
For all that Fallout 4 manages to fuck up, I actually think that (at times) it gets power armor not just right, but goddamn good. Walking through a thin rain in the glowing sea with the raindrops running down the visor on your helmet, using your mounted headlight to peer through the gloom, shit, for a few seconds the atmosphere just works so well. Just make a whole game of that, someone.
lol space samurais
bet you can't find a more fabulous armor than these
basically, it's the fact that not only is the armour so advanced that it lifts itself and feeds you, but also the user is biologically augmented to "link" with the armour
in every other sci-fi setting I have seen, they say "yeah it's really good armour, it can take a tank shell because....of materials and stuff, but it's just as light and free as modern body armour!"
40k goes the extra mile into describing individual assets of the armour, the construction and materials used in each area, the servo-muscular fibre that takes the weight away from the suit, etc
and the fact that this armour is so advanced, that you literally can't use it unless you are genetically modified from a young age gives it more gravity, rather than something any cunt could just put on and suddenly be improved
Because most people want to be a knight user, not an armorsmith.
You could buy and loot pieces too, user
Usually the power armor is restricted to "it just uses servos to make you stronger" instead of being one man tank like in Fallout or 40k lore.
They're not really imposing or something you just want to get your hands on.
Because what you're asking for is a fucking mess that no one but the biggest armor autists will find fun
Simple power armor would just be armor + exoskeleton which makes it a mini-tank of sorts that can go through walls potentially.
[Red rage intensifies]
spess muhreens are xbox hueg size, I mean everything about wh40k its over-the-top
halo power armor its more down to earth (if you
don't count the genetic upgrades of the spartans of course) the materials and technology are well described on the lore too.
crysis is like kojima's wet dream, everything is nanomachines
>instead of being one man tank like in Fallout or 40k lore.
Space marines by default are one tank men even when naked. Which is why I pointed out the Terminators in the last part. Wouldn't they be more equivalent to power armor than the basic armor (to marines of course, a normal human with "normal" power armor is well served) specially when they can teleport, use heavier weapons... while using it?
...
Remember that in 40k there are power armors for regular humans and they're not that far from the SM ones. On the technological level they are the same but don't benefit from the black carapace
And yes Terminator armors can be considered the power armor of power armor however silly that sounds. Or we can dwell further into 40k absurdity with Centurions and Dreadknights
>Dreadknights
>Dreadknights
>laughing stock of all things titan
Fucking triggered
make way for real armour

reminder
Knights are classified as vehicles though senpai.
Knight pilots regard them as their armour.
They could've been so much better. Pic related is how I'd like them to be.
So mechas are considered armor now?
...
The line's a bit blurred when it comes to Knight armour. The scion is not just piloting it like a mech, but is directly interfaced with its machine spirit; to him, its armour is his flesh, its cameras his eyes. Its the same technology as the Titans, only much smaller.
Tau Battlesuits are similarly named because their pilots are plugged into it via a jack in the back of the head, and feel any damage to the suit directly to them; "decapitating" the suit may not kill the pilot, but the resulting neural feedback of him believing his head has been cut off may put him in a permenant coma.
Your concepts don't apply in WH40K
>"decapitating" the suit may not kill the pilot, but the resulting neural feedback of him believing his head has been cut off may put him in a permenant coma.
is there even one setting where mechas aren't completely retarded?
Not really!
inb4 >because they're mechs
What is that, something from the open day?
shows that understand how retarded mechs are, so they just go full retard and drop any pretenses of sanity, thus wrapping around back to making sense
What was GK's homeworld again?
Cool. I kinda want to convert one from a fucking Defiler, official design is just so bad.
Titan, the moon of Jupiter.
knights confuse me
are they better than dreadnoughts? worse? why are dread's still the face of imperium walkers? how can they make knights, but can't make titans, even though knights are just scaled down titans from a design perspective?
I only recently got back into 40K, and over the last few months I have been reading lore and units, and I still can't figure out knights
>reading Master of Mankind
>sudden urge to get a Knight
Bungie armors look great
I genuinely don't know what it is about the new armors, but the best I can put it is that they look like generic scifi
>even though knights are just scaled down titans from a design perspective
>knights
>just a scaled down titan
>lel, just take a titan blueprint and scale it down guize
ARGHBLARFGAFGERGAFSGHSAFGBFGH
...
Knights are something that came back from old 40K epic, and are (totally originally) fluffed as rare, ancient pieces of tech completely controlled by the Knightly Houses, and sometimes in the pocket of the Mechanicus. Titans can be built, it just takes a hell of a long time, centuries maybe. Dreadnoughts are exclusively used by the Space Marines, where a brother near-death is interred within their sarcophagus.
Knights are a Superheavy Walker, big enough to flatten a Dreadnought under their feet. But they are piloted by mortal humans, belonging to their own faction and a seperate cog in the machine of the Imperium. They have to be requisitioned separately from another military force, and they tend to act on impulses of nobility and chivalry rather than duty.
40k armor is godtier. I've always loved it
>cuz WH40K did power armor right
No they really didn't. Even ignoring how ugly Space Marines are, you can't even fit the human form into them.
>they didn't armor the robotic arm
She is just asking to get her arm slagged.
A human form doesn't fit into space marine armour. Space Marines are literally taken apart and grafted into the armour. They can't take it off, it is a part of their own body.
because artists cant into proportions. Once you scale everything properly it looks gocdly
Mass Effect armor design is top notch
...
40K armor is awesome but RTS games suck. Are there any decent 40K RPGs?
>bioware anything that isnt DA:O
... which is why WH40K Space Marines are as far from "power armor done right" as you can get.
I would definitely exlore the galaxy in this suite while this one a halloween tier costume.
nigger that mass effect armor looks like a $20 walmart costume and would get his spine snapped by a space marine's finger
Except they can take it off, I don't know where is getting that from.
Out of my way Astartes fucking shits
Say hello to my AP3 friend
Because Space Marines aren't normal humans.
>doesn't have any indication of where the suit is actually applying force
>no robotic joints jutting out from the sides
>no synthetic muscle fiber anywhere to be seen
>it's literally just just big hoops of metal meant to create an exaggerated male form
I know... which is why WH40K Space Marines are as far from "power armor done right" as you can get.
He has shields that prevent him also he could turn on techno armor plus he can use biotics.
Space Marine can't do anything
Well, Halo armor is just a clunky ripoff of Doom armor, so no surprise there.
>either ugly crycis nanosuits or putrid plastic sheeted garbage
Shame WH40K armor design isn't any better. Falls into the "putrid plastic sheeted garbage like in Halo and Mass Effect" category.
Does it have to look like dumb edgy animu shit or is that optional?
WRONG FAGGOT THEY TAKE OFF THEIR ARMOR ALL THE TIME YOU GET BTFO BY THE FIRST FUCKING TWO PAGES OF HORUS RISING
40k is molded plastic or resin or pewter not sheet plastic
Just put some ceramic plate armor onto a COD exo-suit.
>nanosuit is ugly
faggot, the nanosuit is probably the most practical power armor
because of genetically modifications
>Space Marine can't do anything
