Subnautica

Started playing this recently. Is this the only open world survival crafting game done right?

Yah it is pretty good

yep but he better pick up the pace with the updates and optimization.

It's pretty well done and there are not many games out there that give the feel of deep sea diving.

Only other one I've enjoyed since terraria and early minecraft

>They missed a November update entirely

How do I progress into the game?

The only fragments I can find are Seaglide ones, which I already scanned... I tried exploring deeper but I can't go too deep else I am out of oxygen, and yes, I do have fins and the o2 tank. There's also these sharks lying around the red choral area that I am trying to get into, they seem much more dangerous than the stalkers which I can easily sidestep and stab if they try to catch me

Don't wanna check walkthroughs but I am out of ideas

Get the leaded suit and explore the aurora. Bring the laser cutter and a welder with you.

Isn't that area dangerous though? I saw some spooky fish around it last time I tried to get around it, and the only thing I have to protect myself is a knife for now

Stay near the surface. The Reaper-Leviathan usually stays near the engines

Very well, I'll try

>tfw didn't know how huge the Cyclops was and built it in shallow water and spent an hour ramming it into deeper water with the Seamoth

Kek

>It's a Hugh Jeremy shilling thread
Well done on supporting fraud Sup Forums

The cyclops is a worthless turd anyway, seamoth is way faster and easier to navigate with, can dive almost as deep, and doesn't need to have 6 fucking power cells constantly recharged.

A seaglide and two o2 tanks will allow you to go deep enough to scan seamoth fragments. Just be wary around deeper water for any reapers, you do not want to get caught by them with only a seaglide. You can also get to the aurora early if you have the balls.

What do I do about these sharks though? Can I make them go away with a knife? Every time I get near the red grass biome there is always a shark waiting

How do you deal with smaller fish, like a biter, attacking you? I need to scan the seamoth fragments I found in Lifepod 17 but this biter was fucking with me when I tried. The only thing I have is knife and that didn't seem to do much for defense. Should I just go in and get the scan and take the hits?

I don't want to ever leave the nice and peaceful starting area. Everywhere else seems scary.

I haven't played in a while but now there's a power cell charger, and the cyclops can dive deeper than the Seamoth

Storage space.

Plus you can put chargers inside the Cyclops for endless energy.

Also the infinite hull strength is pretty neat.

You should be able to outrun them with the seaglide, they don't chase that far, usually. If they do, just swim straight up.

it's just not worth it in my opinion, especially considering that there is basically nothing to do once you get a cyclops.

>Can I make them go away with a knife
Yes. The most it'll take is 2-3 hits for them to fuck off a few dozen yards away. The ones you really need to watch out for are the small red ones that sneak up on you.

Bully reapers.

Either build a gun or stay in motion and learn to dodge. Biters die in 1-2 knifes hits

There is though.

The real end-game content requires the PRAWN suit and a lot of upgrades.
The suit does not overlap with the Cyclops as much as the Seamoth does, so you're basically forced to have a PRAWN-equipped Cyclops.
The suit for moving and fighting, the cyclops as a mobile base/tether.

Cool, thanks.

>Much better crush depth
>Completely invincible
>Tonnes of storage
>Tonnes of power
Lol no.

>Reapers being tsundere towards you
CUTE

Still can't find any fragments at the red biome, do I need to dive into the caves or what? Pretty frustrating to be honest, I'm putting myself to great risk for nothing

I love the game, but the constant hiccups annoy me to no end. Hopefully it'll be fixed when he removes terraforming.

Check others biomes of similar depths

A-user, you baka!

For oxygen you can hold multiple o2 tanks in your inventory, it adds up to your maximum capacity so you trade inventory space for more air.

Fragments, try to spot ship wrecks, those always have a good amount of blueprints laying around. There's alot of them scattered through all the areas.

>Invincible

Not any more. Sea Dragon. It also eats up power like hell now, they recently made it worse. Cyclops suffers horribly from the game being shallow and confined. Despite this game taking place in what's supposed to be a deep ocean, I find myself constantly running into maneuvering issues with it. Very frustrating, I would have preferred if the play area were deeper/larger with shit more spaced out and everything else designed to accommodate that.

I have found a decent amount of ship wrecks by now and none of them had anything scannable, all I found around the one dozen of ship wrecks was one luggage bag (useless) and one door that I had to cut my way through but I did not have the gear

IIRC there really isn't anything in that biome besides salt and sandsharks

But there are no other biomes within my reach...

Where do y'all prefer to build your primary base?

This game needs:
-Use materials directly from the storage, at least if they are in the same base of the fabricator
-real guns and ability to kill monsters
-the map has to be larger, or have a lot more places to go inwards
-NPCs to live in your bases and reasons to expand them and create large environments
-multiplayer
-fix the bugs from last year

under the pod

>real guns
No
The entire reason why shit is scary will disappear if you can just build and use an AK

Great game it really captures that neverending feel of loneliness.

Some ridge in the Grassy Plateaus area thats close enough to the Kelp forest and Shallows

Yea I find the prawn to be a lot more useful.

-real guns and ability to kill monsters
You can punch reapers and sea dragons to death wearing an exosuit that shoots a grappling hook and motherfucking torpedos. What more do you want.

You can already build an invincible moving base.

Of course there isn't when you have that kind of attitude. Get at least 5 O2 tanks, put on a rebreather, keep an air bladder filled, make a beacon, then venture into the wilderness.

>Build and use an AK
>This generic response every time someone mentions they want some better personal defenses

Fuck off Developer.

what happens if I die

also, where will I find the most essential fragments? only found the seaglide ones so far... the only biomes I can see are the forest and the red grass one, there's literally nothing else

>AK working underwater

A way to kill those big fuckers.

Grassy biome near silver deposits

First gun that came to mind you cuntwaffles.

The next update should allow you to build one on a swimming reefback.

Those things look way to goofy for how they sound.

Look at that fucking smile, hes having a great time

You respawn in the last safe zone you were in, but you lose all materials you collected while you were out venturing. Travel NEE or follow the valley lining the close side of the ship.

>game runs better on high settings than low settings
what fucking computer sorcery is this

>First gun that came to mind

And this is why you're a faggot. Repulsion cannon but with re-loadable projectiles. Done.

Just wait until you start building and explore the map more. You'll love the performance then.

Grassies plateaux
>Shallow enough to not be spooky
>Deep enough to build wherever you want
>Kelp forest and safe shallows near
>Biothermal energy close

Worst biome got to be right under the floating island. Nothing here but darkness, reapers and claustrophobia

To the people saying that I can find blueprints at the crashes, check pic related

It's one of the many I found so far, no blueprints to be seen though

You know you need a scanner right?

That's a small wreck, you have to find the large ones, like actual chunks or the Aurora

The sea glider in my quickslot should be a sign that I have one

I found like three of these too and no dice, let me get around one to check again

Blueprint fragments can spawn there.

...

Those small ones are only good for finding easy water, batteries, or power cells. The ones where you find blue prints are the multiple story ones and may need to be broken in to.

Stranded 2 is pretty decent as well.

>easy water, batteries or power cells
But I did not find anything at all

Am I supposed to attack the wreckage with my knife or what? I've found like 10 of these so far and there's never anything around

Eh, guns dont really suit the tone of the game anyway.
I get that having them there would be more 'realistic' since you would want some sort of self-defence weapon, but i've never felt like it was necessary

Nowhere until I've built enough to make a base inside the mountain.
Once there was a reaper trapped inside the caves somehow and now i'm completely afraid of it happening again.

>giant monsters will eat you for literally no reason
>but you can't have a gun because that would be mean >:(

As far as I'm concerned, murrika can shoot itself all day but the truth is, the game is better without guns.

The reason behind it is retarded, but what a coincidence that it actually just makes the game better for it

Some of them have boxes with something in them, but those ones are mostly around the Aurora

Guys tell me, is there any Cthulu-esque shit in this game?

> the world would be better off without guns
> everyone just goes back to stabbing each other with pointy objects

Ah, indeed, what a carefree world that'd be

no

Get 2-3 O2 tanks and explore the red grassy area for seamoth fragments. Watch out for sand sharks.

Okay, I found a large wreck.

Where is the good stuff? Still can't find anything.

I wanna get near the pod 17 but these fucking sharks

Grab them with the propulsion or repulsion gun and watch them fly away.

I knew something was missing from this thread. You can't have a Subnautica discussion on Sup Forums without someone feeling the moral obligation to post that. Good work, user.

Find your way into it

kinda

Are there any mysteries at least? Things that make you want to question your sanity?

Go inside, you will probably find some lighting and base interior stuff.

The cyclopse/seamoth and all that other jazz tend to be around the wrecks. Just circle around.

>done right

Nah, it still has a lot of flaws.

Like how the devs got triggered so hard by one school shooting, they removed weapons/guns/firearms from the game.

But meanwhile they increase the spawn rate and aggression of hostile creatures.

Youve never heard of Ark?

Yeah, there's some mysteries. Nothing that will make you question your sanity though.

...

mysteries yes, insanity no

It's it made by sjw though.

Edge of the Shallows and the Plateaus, preferably hanging off a cliff so I can build a Moonpool when I get it

>go inside
Huh? I can go inside these things?

I mean... I circled around it and it doesn't look like it has an entrance

BAN ASSAULT FORKS!

It's probably the best one I know, for sure.

>he

You know it’s an entire team, right? Unknown Worlds are the guys who made Natural Selection 2 as well.

Here's a greentext version of some tips I wrote for a website we don't name here.
>The survival knife should be your first tool. More than a weapon; it is used to collect resources.
>The Scanner is the key to new blueprints. Get it out whenever you see something new to construct or scan.
>Titanium Ingots are a mid-to-late-game resource, and they cannot be converted back into titanium. Don’t waste your early game making lots of ingots.
>Check your fabricator occasionally. New blueprints will show up for you to make.
>Prioritize crafting a Habitat Builder. Any base, even a small one is ultimately preferable to living out of the lifepod.
>Bladderfish can be converted into pure water at the fabricator.
>You swim faster with nothing in your hands, and even faster on the surface of the water.
>You can make multiple air tanks, each of which adds 30 oxygen capacity.
>Solar panels do not need to be above the water to collect sunlight. They still have maximum efficiency at a depth of 16m. Beyond that they operate at reduced efficiency.
>If a battery is required for a blueprint, use one with low charge. The created item will always have 100% charge regardless of the battery used to create it.
>Creating the Radiation Suit in the fabricator makes all 3 pieces (suit, gloves, helmet). The gloves and helmet are not separate things you have to find.
>You start blacking out when your oxygen runs dry, rather than instantly dying. So just keep swimming! You’d be surprised how far you can ascend during this blackout stage before actually drowning.
>Deconstructing a container destroys everything in it. Good for trashing stuff, tragic if you forgot to empty a valuable locker before moving it.

Some of them you can, not all of them

You should focus on building a Seamoth. Its best attribute is the fact that you can hop back into it to get some air while you're exploring. Fragments of it are scattered around the Grassy Plateaus

Not sure which wreck that is, but you can probably cut your way in it with the Laser Cutter.

>Removed
They never had them in the first place
