Are you getting one (or two) of these at the end of next month or waiting until the next gen?
Butthurt poorfags need not apply
Are you getting one (or two) of these at the end of next month or waiting until the next gen?
Butthurt poorfags need not apply
I'm waiting for the next gen so I can buy that.
getting pic related
Name 1 (one) AAA graphicsfest on the horizon that I should give a shit about and upgrade for.
King of fighters 14
>SLI
Hahaha, you're not seriously thinking that's a thing devs program for, right?
Not even confirmed for a PC release and will run at 8K/144fps on a GTX 260 like all fightan games.
Got a 1070 instead. Performance isn't that much less and I can pop in another one towards the end of the life cycle to try to squeeze for years of decent performance on high end games.
>Performance isn't that much less
and neither is price
>mfw can't even afford a GTX 1070 or an i7 6700k
This is why I havent built a PC yet despite going on logicalincrements for the past 3 years
Just build a full Ayymd box. Also the 1070 is a fairly high-end and expensive card. You can get something completely adequate for half the price.
Nah, got a 980 when they came out and I have no plans of replacing that anytime soon.
The 1080Ti is set to be near Titan X(P) strength, the 1070 is a strong card but doesn't come close in comparison.
There are no games coming out on the PC worth a GPU upgrade and that's the truth.
>SLI
>current year
Are you retarded?
I have a 980 Ti so I don't need to upgrade anytime soon.
>*70
>high end
>mfw this is what poorfags believe
Oh whoops missed the Ti
Too far up the price curve for my blood. just want to be assured great FPS for the next four years, even if I have to downscale or use crappier graphics settings to get it.
AMD's offerings in the next 6 months won't be better than the 1080 ti and Nvidia's next gen isn't coming out until late 2017. I'll just build my new computer in January.
Plus it'll be 2018 before the top Ti release of the next gen comes out
was sli ever worthwhile?
My uncle had a duel 7800 set up in 2005ish and he said it never worked
I'll be grabbing one and cycling my graphics cards through my other towers in the house. Mostly want one for the improvements in VR performance relative to the 9xx series.
>Are you getting one (or two) of these at the end of next month or waiting until the next gen?
I got back into physical games, dropping online account faggotry and video game facebooks.
This includes nVidia accounts.
poorfags talk shite on here.
In truth it really depends on the game. In some games it works well, in others you'll see next to zero improvements. It's best to just do some research, if you games you like support it well and you're not poor, then go for it if you want better performance. If not then just stick to one powerful card at the top of your price limit.
buying 3 of those, bro. need 12k 800 fps across 8 screens.
Is 1080 ti actually confirmed yet
Looking at news and it looks like all rumors still
it's "officially" being revealed at an event in January, units will roll out for purchase soon after
>soon after
>reference boards
>have to wait even longer for AIB manufacturers to put out the good versions
>1 month+ of shortages and price gauging
>by the time it's actually available the 11 series will be rumored
You can literally never buy a graphics card
I had the same setup. It works with some games, which is better than today where it works with barely anything.
Capitalism is fun
All according to plan.
It's really not good for so many reasons, the biggest being microstutter. You can actually get perceivably worse framerate sometimes depending on microstutter than you would with a single card. Then you add in lack of support, the fact that usually it's only a 30% boost in performance if that, and heat problems caused by two cards in close proximity and SLI is just never worth it. I wouldn't even do SLI if the second card only cost me 30% of what the first one cost
I'm good for now.
Running GTX 980 TI sli, if performance improvement is bigger than 50% imma get it.
I'm happy with my 980ti, will upgrade in a year or two if I feel like it
I have a 680 still. The disastrous launch of the 1000 series cards the cringey launch presentation with the twitch and YouTube personalities/ecelebs was the first red flag.
The rebranding of reference cards to founders edition, the extreme price hike and disingenuous explanation because of board partners and keeping the reference cooler design around was the second red flag.
The terrible forced software and needing a social media account to update drivers and the discontinuation of development for drivers on older cards leading to a cycle of forced upgrades was the third red flag.
The extreme thermal throttling of their new 1000 series cards after only 10 minutes of gaming resulting in significantly lower clock speeds than what they advertise. Also many reports of the cards actually catching fire because of missing thermal pads between the board and the cooler was the 4th red flag.
I think a better question would be why do you feel no shame and shill this terrible company on this board still? I wouldn't be surprised if you told me you voted for Donald Trump because you obviously like getting fucked over and making other people suffer for your stupidity.
That's not to say there isn't some form of redemption for a sub human piece of garbage like yourself. You could redeem yourself in the eyes of many of us by killing yourself and any family members and friends you have infected with your stupidity.
>generic ram
>100 hz meme screen
top kek
>x99
>only two drives
>no quad channel ram
for what purpose?
Nah have a 980ti and it's doing fine. Gonna upgrade in a couple of years once 4K is more common.
>was sli ever worthwhile?
It was good for benchmark e-benis, the thing PC mustards like the most.
It was never good for actually playing something and with DX12 it's finally dead.
The 1080Ti is supposedly 30 - 35% stronger than the 1080 IIRC (about 7% weaker than a Titan X)
Those are some disingenuous asserstions
>generic ram
It's not generic ram.
>100 hz meme screen
ROFLMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
>x99
Video production.
>only two drives
I have a 10TB media server.
Holy shit this poorfags butthurt is off charts!
Wrong
>if you told me you voted for Donald Trump because you obviously like getting fucked over and making other people suffer for your stupidity.
Graphics cards don't make your wife run even faster to get Tyrone's dick xd
>*70
>low end
>mfw this is what autists believe
Name calling, sad
what is middle
*70s are gimped *80s and they age like milk.
Makes no sense. Might as well just go full retard and say cuck
70 is middle of the road.
Several of these statements are patently false
Hey hypocrite, why don't you apply some more thermal paste on your butt so it does not burn down your house?
waiting for those 10gb cards and new cpu chips before I upgrade
Nope. Already have one.
I'm tempted to wait for HBM but I'm on a 570 and it's starting to run into games it can't run even on low settings.
>70 is middle of the road.
>500 bucks for a GPU
>middle of the road
I'm considering building a new comp, though it's not really because of my GPU (which is a decent mid-tier one from last gen). It's more because the CPU is ancient, the mobo is partially broke, the HDD is nearing the end of its lifespan, the psu is dying, I want a bigger case, better ram, and a ssd (i used to be against them but my laptop has one and oh boy I do I love em). My budget is 1200-1500 dollars.
Point out exactly which ones are patently false.
I was one of the first to get my founders edition. I love that damn thing. Running on an i5 and witcher 3 looks fucking good as shit in 4k.
Everything looks good in 4k.
Don't buy SLI. I have the money to go SLI but I don't because too many glitches end up happen man.
>launch is a disaster because i don't like e-celebs
>calling reference cards founders edition is somehow bad
>"extreme price hike"
>housefire meme
>muh thermalpads
No, you don't have a 1080Ti.
Yes. 70 is middle. 80 and Titan are high end. 50 and 60 is low end. See how that works?
50 > 60 > middle > 80 > Titan
Just received a mail that my new rig parts are in the mail. Bit nervous how it will go as I have never put a computer together from the actual start, but I guess it will turn out fine in the end as I am not completely retarded, atleast yet. No idea if my machine will be a "cutting edge" enough, it isnt, but it will hopefully last until I have to upgrade something.
I already have a 1080, waiting for Volta here.
I'd try to make it sound simpler for you but I rarely come in contact with second graders unless it has to do with my van xx
Thinly veiled AMD false flag.
Shouldn't you be joining the celebrations of AMD releasing drivers for once? It's a big deal, like every year.
>60 is low end.
kek
>ultrawide
I'm too scared of encountering shit support.
That's why you get two monitors, user.
Most games support it and there are simple workarounds for games that don't. Never had a single issue and I have over 1k games on Steam.
>titan better than 80
>LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>I have over 1k games on Steam.
And never even played half of them.
>50 > 60 > middle > 80 > Titan
I remember D:MD having massive issues with UI scaling that persisted for a few patches too.
That's not even talking about older games.
I mean enjoy it all you can, I'm just too cautios I guess. Looking to buy a 4k screen next year though.
Dude why you even come to these threads? You know full well everyone who circlejerks about hardware has i7 / GTX 1070 or better. Do you really expect your opinions to hold any value here?
Most of those are not even words.
You retarded like this from birth?
I have a 390 and it runs everything that I play.
no need to upgrade
That's just his dumb way of pointing out that that guy doesn't know how to use > or
That's great for work, but I prefer my games fullscreen and with nothing else distracting me.
I've never owned an and product.
Nah.
Own a 1070 MSI Seahawk and I don't have an interest in doing 4K or anything above 60fps and don't see VR taking off soon enough for me to want one.
Speaking of VR, how is the porn? Heard it's kind of like watching porn in a planetarium. Is he just watching shifty VR porn?
Should be easy, user.
I had a easy time on my first build. Wish I did a better job making the wiring neater.
But it runs without any issues whatsoever.
Will take another crack at my wiring job when I eventually install another SSD in my rig to dual boot Win7.
Just switched from AMD.
I'm never going back.
Just remember to have a grounding wire on when putting it together and you should be fine.
>Wish I did a better job making the wiring neater.
Shit user, thanks for reminding me. I planned to do get some cable ties but I forgot it entirely already. I know that I would get autistic if I couldnt put them down neatly.
Heard some conflicting stuff about the importance and unimportance of being grounded. Some say it isnt crucial these days but not planning to risk it either way. If I have to wreck my shit, I want it because I actually fucked up, not because I accidentally zap the shit.
>Looking to buy a 4k screen next year though.
Don't do it man. I have a 4k as well as an ultra wide. Ultra wide is wayyy better. With 4K you're locked at 60Hz and 60 FPS. 100+ FPS makes a much more of a difference than that extra resolution will.
Nvidia is still supporting their 900 (and lower) series with driver updates. They are just called "legacy" cards because that's what they are. They are a generation that's no longer being produced, but all of the cards are still supported in the latest driver updates. The only reason this is being confused is because AMD has "legacy cards" which are NOT supported any longer, and AMD faggots think that Nvidia using the word legacy means the same thing.
You also do not need a social media account to upgrade drivers. You can download the latest driver right off nvidia's website without any account at all.
why didn't you get a fury nitro? granted the 1070 is a little better but for $260 you cant beat it. i picked up a fury nitro because $260 is not much of a set back if i want to get a vega.
It depends on the quality of the parts these days but It's good practice to get in the habbit. As you say I'd rather not spend £500 on a graphics card to ruin it with something so stupid as static.
Some people see guys on YouTube appearing to not use one so they think its fine but they almost always have a leg strapped grounding wire.
I was mainly so pissed with the lies of the RX480 and waiting weeks to get working drivers for things. Moved over to nvidia for the first time and I'm amazed by how little I have to tweek anything.
Rate my computer
fair enough, but i recommend going 1080p 144Hz or 1440p because your setup is overkill for 1080p 60Hz.
>i5 2500k with a gtx 1070
>1080p monitor
>that ram
>no SSD
Yeah, planning on an 27" ROG 1440 with 144hrz for best of both worlds with older games at some point, saving up for that though.
How is the 2500k holding up these days? What OC you got?
That CPU is fine. It won't bottleneck anything that's isn't super CPU heavy like Forgelight.
I would not have put a 1070 in this
4.5, I can still play all games maxed out at minimum 60 fps, but getting an upgrade soon anyway
Not true you see a significant loss in performance with driver updates Nvidia wants you to use because they no longer develop drivers for that card it pushes you toward the upgrade. Never mentioned AMD once in the post either.
the new geforce exp wants you to sign up for facebook Nvidia pushing their shitty malware onto it's consumers.
