Who cares, as long as big titted ninja is in and cute Greek sisters
how cool
didnĀ“t expect that to be honest
They weren't in SCV.
They better reboot the series
Nobody wants to continue with SC5's roster
Unless your talking about pachinko, they've confirmed nothing.
Even the Tekken guys are saying a new SC is coming. And those guys don't give a shit about Pachinko.
A new Soul Calibur is definitely coming. Expect announcement shortly after Tekken 7 release.
Autist this doesn't confirm anything. Soul Calibur died quickly, sales weren't great. Namco wants to focus on Tekken.
>Reminder that there are anons who believe SCII wasn't the best SoulCal browsing Sup Forums RIGHT NOW
>sales weren't great
SCV outsold TTT2 and it was made on a smaller budget. Right now there are too many fighting games releasing at once so Bamco probably wants to spare SC to a season without competition.
This series turned to complete shit after 2
let it die senpai
2 > 5 > Blade > 4 > 3
Yes. It only really dawned on me recently how the franchise lost that vibe and turned to an anime sort of style that got really fucking old fast with characters like Natsu being added. It's like Kilik and Xianghua were done right but slowly became more and more cringeworthy as time went on. Same case can be made for Maxi who replaced Li-Long honestly.
III retained the original ''feel'' the universe had, the presentation in IV and V quickly deviated
Soul Calibur 3 was the best in my opinion
>Soul Blade first fighting game we played in the house
>always pick Taki
>always use her annoying slam kick and dagger charge moves
Good times
>tfw Daishi ''walked out''
tbqh he did a pretty good job with SCV overall, the forced newcomers and roster decisions were a little weak in some regards but I imagine he was pressured to release before TTT2.
>Those endearing tutorial videos telling patroklos to shut the fuck up
like most fighting games
but fighting players are fucking retards
>Soul Blade released in '96
>Had arcade mode with alternate endings
>Had an RPG-lite conquest mode where you traversed a map and fought battles under specific conditions
>Had an A+ OST with even a completely optional soundtrack included
>Had a wonderful visual presentation that didn't feel held back by the PSX
>Has the greatest videogame intro of all time
Truly a game ahead of its times.
>edge master world map music
I nut everytime user
They're always a bunch of posturing hoodrats and niggers but the best players are almost always some half asian kid or a literally mumbley eyes on the floor autist.
The FGC is the most cancerous thing to come out of video games bar none!
Honestly the casuals killed Soul Calibur with the overemphasis on CaC in later installments, sure its a welcome feature and they DID tune the gameplay in V to a very exceptional standard. But the end result is a game with content split way too thinly. I suppose V being rushed for Tag 2 to not clash with it's release is a good argument against all that though.
>Had an RPG-lite conquest mode where you traversed a map and fought battles under specific conditions
I want this back in the Soul franchise. I know people only give a shit about online multiplayer, but the conquest mode was always my favorite part of the series. I wish more fighting games would do something like that. Something to mix up the standard shit.
I wouldn't mind create a character if it was paired with conquest mode and your character was just for conquest mode.
Pretty much, SC3 had a nice amount of content to it, unfortunately the bugs that EVO mainliners from Sup Forums keep calling out mean it gets shit on vehemently. Rightly so in that respect, bugs like that are a pain when playing competitively but from what I hear the arcade edition fixed that anyways.
They just need to go back to it's roots, ditch that garbage street fighter shoe-in meter and make guard impacts great again. Just Guard felt so fucking awkward it was ridiculous
Couldn't you at least pretend to not be blatantly copy-pasting your last thread?
Nobody gives a shit until it is at least confirmed to not be pachinko or mobage.
You dumb homo I accidently posted OP in a thread, copypasted the post and deleted it.
Soul Blade had some cool af features that were never used again, like the book/edge master mode or the triple soundtrack. The opening was also beautiful and the unarmed moveset was pretty cool imo.
Pattycakes has to stay though, he's my new main and Patsuka is a boring Setsuka clone who plays worse and has a boring personality.
You must be out of your damn mind if you think Soul Calibur was ever tailored with competitve play in mind to the point you claim casuals killed the series.
The focus or tertiary things such as story and weapon collection was there since day one, to the point Namco simply stopped releasing new titles for Arcades after SCIII (which had a home release first).
Why exactly do people hate Soul Calibur IV so much? I've been playing fighting games since I was a kid, loved Soul Edge on PSX and Soul Calibur blew me away on Dreamcast. I've played every SC since then and the only one to really wow me since Soul Calibur was Soul Calibur IV. It just hit all the right notes for me. Graphics were amazing, customization was fantastic and the battle system felt the same as it had with previous titles, not to mention the fact that the game itself had toooons of stuff to do and unlock. Maybe V's gameplay was more refined and it had more customization, but the rest of the game was so fucking empty and the roster was horrible. And despite what people say, I actually enjoy the fanservice in recent SC titles especially since nowadays games are too scared of shit like that anymore.
>watch Aris stream highlights of him trying the game out
>Li-Long playthrough in arcade
>His face when he clashes weapons with the AI Seung-Mina
I totally forgot about that feature, they even had it in the damned opening FMV with Hwang and Mitsurugi
I only truly disliked the finisher moves and the lack of good single player modes like 2
How does SC2 Dolphin netplay work? Does anyone want to play some matches against a scrub?
SCIV has little content and SCV managed to have even less.
Soul Calibur is only fun at arcades.
It was kinda clunky, I remember having fun and playing it religiously because online SC blew my mind and Yoshimitsu had a huge moveset. BUT beyond all that if the latency was even slightly off the game's bad pace really got highlighted, it became like a game of ''You attack, I block > I attack, you block''
How do you feel SCIV had little content though? It had 16 unlockable characters, a boatload of unlockable weapons, customizations and gallery items and a "tower" mission mode in addition to the traditional modes like story, arcade and online.
tourney fags ruin most fighting games.
No it isn't, home releases made it sell 14 million lifetime sales.
There's a reason they stopped making Arcade releases after III while Tekken never stopped.
Why do i get shit on by fighting game autists for saying SC2 was my favourite fighting game?
But as it's been said, Soul Calibur was never really meant to be as highly precise during competitive play as, say, Virtua Fighter. It was meant to be a fun fighting game that was accessible to both casual and skilled players, with tons of extra stuff thrown in to really flesh it out and set it apart from everything else that was out at the time. It definitely pulled that off. The two games that really tried to be "competitive" were Soul Calibur II and Soul Calibur V, and I'd call both of those the weakest of the series.
>It had 16 unlockable characters
Half of the main roster locked isn't the same. "unlocking characters" is getting someone like Inferno or Edgemaster, not Sophitia.
Tower mode felt surprisingly shallow unfortunately. Compared to a lot of a modern fighting games it has a lot of stuff, but compared to past games in the Soul franchise it felt lacking.
I've had a lot of fun playing SC3 recently. I poured so many hours into SC2's weapon master mode as well, I really want something like that to return. I didn't buy SC4 or 5 because I played them with friends and just didn't feel they were as good, they also didn't have the single player content to make me want to keep going.
If SC6 brings back weapon master then I'd be very tempted to pick it up.
I'd also like if they brought back the old characters. Screw these new guys, I want Kilik.
Because FGC is cancer. They should never talk about anything that isn't Street Fighter.
I dunno, even with meter GI's and hamfisted Street Fighter supers AND the watered down roster with 3 mimic/clone characters, I preferred the pacing of SFV's fighting than IV's, and that's a big factor for the type of game it is.
I knew it. The whole reason SCV's development got fucked was because it was releasing the same year as TTT2, so it had to be rushed out before summer. Now I think they're much more likely to take it slowly, release T7, THEN work on SC full-time.
>tfw generic MUH SOULS evil giant faggot Astaroth got way more love from the devs until he slowly pushed based Rock out of the frame for good

Focus on single player, lots of set costumes sexy and classy, no customizability opens way too many floodgates. Gameplay similar to SC II, but with ring outs nerfed
>If SC6 brings back weapon master then I'd be very tempted to pick it up.
Pretty much this.
Or they're already working on SC6 but want to keep development hidden as not to eat into Tekken 7's hype. MvCI has been in development for some year aswell and nobody knew about it until last week.
I do
But I don't mind a reboot either as long as the mechanics are as tight as SCV's and I get X back. Preferably with SXS intact
I'm downloading SC2 for emulation. Is anyone interested in some emulation? I'm not good and I haven't played the series in years.
Because it has exploits due to some sloppy programming in parts.
Meanwhile Capcom vs SNK 2 was lauded as a great game despite it's meta being nothing BUT invincible frames exploit abuse for years now.
The netcode was hot garbage and the star wars characters such as Yoda gave players an unfair advantage since most attacks would whiff right over his head.
But other than that, I agree IV was fun and in my opinion, far better than that abomination V.
>And despite what people say, I actually enjoy the fanservice in recent SC titles especially since nowadays games are too scared of shit like that anymore.
The only people who say this are faggots and uppity sjws looking for easy oppression points.
Fan service has been a part of SC since the very beginning and I really wish retards would stop sperging the fuck out everytime a scantily clad girl appears on the screen because they can't control their hormones.
AI started cheating too early, plus there was no story or anything to go with it so the slog wasn't disguised at all. Part of the fun of going through SB, 1 and 2's Edge Master modes was reading the little story bits as you traveled around the world.
Is chronicles of the sword any good? I've only really done arcade and multiplayer in SC3 up until now.
Pseudo-historical?
Please direct me to the annals of history in which we had blind italian contortionists out of someone's sex dungeon and warrior greek women chosen by the gods.
Nothing in the series setting changed, it has always been fantasy based on certain points of our history.
>Kilik appears and pushes Mina out of the main roster to where she was relegated to an unlockable and was even excluded entirely from the arcade SCII
At least she still managed to stay as a hanger-on unlike Rock, Hwang and Li Long.
Speaking of Hwang, did anybody actually LIKE Yunsung over him?
Out of 16 unlockable characters, 9 were part of the main roster. That still leaves 7 brand new unlockable characters, which is more than previous titles. Not to mention all of those characters put together (both main roster and unlockable) were more than previous titles.
This is a great example of how the fighting community is divided though. There's some people who can't enjoy a fighting game unless it has the absolute tightest, fairest mechanics available. And then there's people who just want to play fighting games for fun. SoulCalibur was never geared towards the same people who play much tighter fighters like Virtua Fighter or even Tekken, and the few times that it has done that has been what most people consider the weakest entries in the series.
They ran the retrospective trailer after the pachinko announcement so I don't think that's what it's for
Could still be some shit mobage
>Is chronicles of the sword any good?
It's 45% of the reason the series as whole has sold 14 million copies.
Can't be any more dirty and money grubbing than Lost Swords at least.
Actually, from remembering how jewish they are with the DBZ mobage, I can see Namco going even worse with a mobile SC game.
Fuck off, SCV was miles better than SCII ever was. And if you're a casual who doesn't care about the mechanics, SCIII buries SCII in content. Not that SCII is bad, because it isn't, but it's been decidedly improved on.
But it was only in SC3.
I can only predict that SC6 will be even more gaudy and overdesigned than 5. The characters will be floating blobs of shiny protrusions.
I fucking loved Hwang in Soul Edge and SoulCalibur, and was really disappointed to see him gone as of SCII. As for Seung-Mina, she was my main before Kilik stole her spot. Sometimes it's painful being an SC fan.
Where's SC1?
>That still leaves 7 brand new unlockable characters
No that leaves 3 guest characters and 4 characters made on character creator designed by japanese artists that will never come back.
It's fun but get a new memory card for it, there's a bug in it that can fuck your whole card
why make a sixth one? the third soul calibur was shit and it just got worse from there
I'm emulating.
Rock is in SC4. I would call him a Hanger-on.
Yeah, some people like Hwang. It's just because of his colorful outfit and the "classical" style. Honestly, I like them both the same!
If they bring back Rock ever again, they're probably going to differentiate him and Astaroth even more. Astaroth was edited significantly in SCV from his SC4 counterpart and I can only imagine Rock would get some more moves.
What? Rock is in literally every SC game except SCII and SCV and Berserker has his moveset in SCII
Chronicles has been there since Soul Blade, it just went by different names.
FUCK YOU NAMCO YOU BASTARDS
YET AGAIN YOU RELEASE A NEW SOUL CALIBUR IN THE SAME YEAR AS A NEW TEKKEN
YOU FUCKERS KNOW BETTER THAN ANYONE THAT EVERYONE GRAVITATES TO TEKKEN AND SOUL CALIBUR SUFFERS FOR IT
YOU KNOW THE NEW SOUL CALIBUR WILL BE OVERSHADOWED BY TEKKEN 7 YET YOU WILL STILL RELEASE THESE TWO AS COMPETITORS ON THE MARKET INSTEAD OF GIVING THEM BOTH SOME BREATHING ROOM
AND YET AGAIN YOU WILL COMPLAIN ABOUT DISAPPOINTING SALES FOR SOUL CALIBUR AND YET AGAIN DROP ALL SUPPORT FOR THE SERIES
I FUCKING HATE YOU RETARDS
>we will never have tira in her original design ever again
>nor will we be able to download her original outfit as dlc
>nor can we build an own character that looks like her
You're really nitpicking all of my arguments, and when that happens there's no point in discussing it anymore because it shows that you're obviously biased. Which is fine, not everyone has to like what I like, but at least make valid arguments if you're going to argue at all.
Yun-seung is a huge faggot and the go-to character to display how the game's tone changed dramatically over time.
Li-Long > Maxi
Hwang > Yun-seong
etc
Chronicles is the strategy game mode. Soul Blade, Calibur and Calibur 2 had Weapon Master mission type modes.
SC3 has a more open ended pick your story kinda arcade mode as well as CotS which is the strategy game thing.
I think he means the visual style.
You're fine then, obviously
I love SCV but someone's going to have to explain to me why we got a game full of the kids and no Bangoo
Dude SCV sold more than TTT2 and that was after namco made them rush SCV so they didn't release side-by-side. They just prefer Tekken for some reason. SC is the step-child as far as they're concerned.
Nigga those aren't like Chronicles where you build a team that levels up RPG style and has minor RTS elements
The same argument applies, it still had fantasy on it, character visuals and locations were loosely based on historical events; the actual change the series got is a more open embrace to fanservice, which back then was limited to some upskirts and Sophitia bathing on Soul Blade's intro.
>that lipstick on tira's sc3 default
muh dick
I'll back up my memcard before I play just in case but I guess it's not going to be a big issue for me.
DANTE FOR GUEST CHARACTER
I want old Siegfried back.
Not Nightmare or whatever dumb bullshit they have going on now.
>dat Hard Steel Blade
>1 2 3 and then they go fucking flying
To see what the OP means you can basically just look at Siegfried's design throughout the series, sums it all up honestly.
>Soul Blade
Which region of the world got cucked out its original name?
My copy had Soul Edge as its title and it was in english.
>Who cares
>As long as the two characters that aren't in the game anymore exactly because of what OP is blaming.
Are you some kind of retard?
I don't care, as long as Ivy's breasts get bigger.
Only America did.
Here's why: en.wikipedia.org
tl;dr One fucking company would file copyright infringement suits against any company that made a game with "Edge" in the name until they tried that shit on EA.
With that horrible voice he had back then too?
I'm a britbong and my old PS1 copy on my shelf right now says Soul Blade. I figured it was Europe that had Blade and the states kept Soul Edge alongside the nips.
See me in SC2 netplay
Characters got gaudier and flashier clothing, character designs started getting ridiculous (Li Long = normal person of that time period, Maxi = Elvis. Nightmare and Astaroth in general). Character's weapons started getting ridiculous like Tira's ring, Algol in his entirety, crystal balls and wolf Stands in V.
Now that I think about it, SC and the Dynasty Warriors series went down the same path of getting lewder and more ridiculous as the games continued. SC hasn't yet reached the point of giving people machine guns though.
Her breasts are perfect as they are, it just needs better physics.
