Playing the first

>Playing the first
>Actually enjoy myself, fun adventure, its like bioshock meets hitman
>Get to DLC
>Play Brigmore witches
>Its pretty good and a neat side story, Delilah is an okay villain.

>Play 2
>Suddenly Deliliah despite the fact I killed her
>Throne take over
>Haha now i'm the better sister and the thron is mine!
>Edgey emily wants Delilah dead
>MUH CORVO
>"Advertised as A steampunk atmosphere" despite one entire level of 9 being barely steampunk

What the fuck happened? Why Delilah again? Why not a new villain? Why this recycling ideas and shit? Fuck man, I expected more out of this.

The problem is that you're a storyfag while Dishonored improved one everything Dishonored did except the story.

Game was canonically low chaos for Corvo and Daud.

But why rehash a vilain? Delilah was okay in her arc with the brigmore manor, but putting her on the throne and making her an all powerful witch? Hell even Granny rags was stronger then her, and she went down by one cameo burning.

It just feels lazy, I was expecting some new threat altogether.

The witches always felt like the weakest part I like the void and all and even granny rags but all these hippie tree-hugging feminist witches are not interesting antagonists at all.

I'LL FIND YOU, YOU HAGFISH!

Someone spam Harvey's Twitter about an Overseer game

I don't really care about Corvo and Emily anymore

>its like bioshock meets hitman

It really is.

It's more like Thief meets Deus Ex meets Bioshock desu.

>mfw The Surge

The only mission where i went out of my way to go high chaos and kill as many overseers as i could.

It was also the most fun i had with the game. Im replaying the entire thing high chaos next time.

I think whole decision of bringing back Corvo and Emily story is weak as fuck. They did have a positive momentum, they could've introduced any new protagonist and everyonve would've liked him.

Clockwork Mannor was my favorite place in the entire game, and I love the steam soldiers

Why couldn't the rest of the game be like that?

>Delilah AGAIN
>Have to kidnap Sokolov AGAIN
>Totally-not-Billy-Lurk AGAIN

Honestly it would have been better if it had no relation to Dishonored 1 except for the Outsider and the Void stuff.

THIS

The outsider, void and runes should have been the only things connected, Corvo could be mentioned by the outsider as someone who interested him, or reminded him of, but it shouldn't have chronicled dunwall AGAIN

It literally improved nothing.

>Why this recycling ideas and shit?

Check who the publisher of the game is

It added like two non-lethal bolts
I guess that's something

>Better AI
>Better level design
>Better world building
>Better balance
>Better body awareness

It improved a lot over the base game, but not that much over KoD and BW.
That said Dishonored 2 has far bigger levels, way better level design, more complex patrols and a slightly better AI.

>better balance

What?

Better lethal/non-lethal balancing.

Really?
I thought lethal still had way more options, both for gear and powers.

Most powers can be use non-lethaly with Emily.
You can drop choke people, run toward them and smash them.
You have new bolts to make ennemies run away.

Delilah coming back from the dead was a mistake, and she was a pretty boring villain.

Maybe, but equipment is still kinda shitty for non-lethal.

She was okay for DLC, the problem is they re-told her story, and changed critical points of, it.

In BW shes a jealous witch who wanted emily's place on the throne.

In DH2 shes suddenly related, a sister to her mother, rightful empress of the throne, inherited and stole the outsiders powers and became essentially a god, Shes fucking mary sue incarnate with a dyke haircut

Bigger =/= always better

In some cases like Jihndosh's mansion, its amazing and theres tons of stuff to explore, but in the open area missions its a fucking chore, to sneak through at slow speeds, and its ultimately better to jsut break the skybox and blink through the rooftops to your destination half the time

I have a major Jules Verne feeling from this level.

>Playing the first.
>Hate every second of it.
>Don't play DLC.

>Don't play 2.

I know, it's wonderful

I thought Mission's 5 and 7 were better than 4, but 4 was still excellent. 7 itself was amazing due to the time manipulation mechanic, as well as the ability to change the mansion drastically by knocking Stilton unconscious / killing him.

THIS. No one asked for her. NO ONE.

>Delilah
>dead
Daud sealed her in the painting, so of course she came back. The whole thing basically ridicules non-lethalfags.

>All bodies that you knock out / kill stay there, don't disappear (only 5 remained in 1).
>Two characters to play through the same story in very different ways
>Far better level design, larger levels with far more NPCs and more detailed environments
>VA on Corvo gives him an actual personality and reason for doing the things he does
>VA in general is incredible for a video game
>Lore built up through the game for Serkonos is fantastic, expands the world a lot more than DH1 did.
>More memorable characters
>Animations improved across the board, for example NPCs actually use their hands to open and close doors, not just walking into them and they open without interference.
>Enemies actually respond to a missing guard, or a door that is left open, etc.
>AI in general is improved from the first game, enemies detect you a lot easier, spot you faster and have larger FOV.
>Bone charms are a lot better, a lot more of them and there's crafting
>More powers than the first game, both characters have their own unique powers.

I could go on...

>All bodies that you knock out / kill stay there, don't disappear (only 5 remained in 1).

That is completely arbitrary depending on if you have Shadow kill or not.

>More memorable characters

Uhhh ...? Like, what, Jindosh and Serkonos? Nobody else was new.

>VA in general is incredible for a video game
HAHAHAHA

I haven't played Corvo so I can't speak for him but Emily and the supporting cast sound like they just read the script aloud once and that was that.

Not sure what to think about the level design thus far either. The mansion is GOAT but the early levels are so open and guard-heavy that I mostly wound up just skirting the rooftops until I wandered into the objective by chance. D1 seems like it's a lot better with signposting, but it might just seem that way because I've played more of it.

>>More memorable characters
Corvo is the only memorable character, and that's mostly because of Jessamine. Arkane didn't even try to write an interesting story or characters, user.
The rest is legit though.

>In DH2 shes suddenly related, a sister to her mother, rightful empress of the throne, inherited and stole the outsiders powers and became essentially a god, Shes fucking mary sue incarnate with a dyke haircut

People loved Daud and wanted more of him, and instead they bring back the villain that barely managed to carry the last chapter of a dlc.

Not only that, they are trying to reveal who the outsider is, which is a bad move, the worst move they can do, remember the reapers from mass effect? They were scary and mysterious, awesome creatures, right until the moment bioware revealed everything about them, then they became a joke, I fear the same will happen to the outsider, some things are better left in the dark.

And Delilah managing to steal from the outsider is way more that I can take, he has been watching over the void for millennia, and some dumb girl who pleases old guys like sokolov for money suddenly can take the upper hand against him? Cmon, its even worse when sokolov, the genius who shaped dunwall for centuries to come, says "Delilah, the dumb whore sleeping around for money is beyond my understanding!!!" fuck off with this shit.

you also have bolts that induce fear and loss of memory, throwing bottles at an enemy can knock them unconscious, stun mines are usable in the main campaign, I'm sure there are more that haven't been mentioned as well.

how stupid are you?

I agree with most of this (not the guy you replied to), but there are still some problems:

>No mission restart.
>No choose mission.
>Even with the tutorial, the game throws you into the coup quite quickly. You're not given room to breathe.
>The overarching story was even more basic that Dishonored 1. You lose the throne and work your way back to it. No twists.
>NPCs knocked out non-lethally could be killed by completely unrelated story-moments. For example, two witches died when the ocularum was used.
>The Dreadful Wale was lonely and boring. You had, at most, three people. Hound Pits was larger and more lively with up to ten people.
>Graphical glitches towards the end of my first playthrough on the PS4. Main menu icons would be replaced with white placeholders.
>Many PC setups are STILL having issues, even after the patch.
>Reusing Delilah. Not too much of a problem by itself, but they tacked on her relationship to Euhorn whilst that wasn't her point in Brigmore.
>Heavy reuse of previous Dishonored books. I'd say only 60-50% of them was new stuff. It makes sense that old books would still be around, but it felt a bit cheap.

I still love the game, but you have to acknowledge that it did take some sets back from the first game. A couple of much more personal gripes:

>No information on other marked individuals. Literally just PC and Delilah.
>No hiding in plain sight mission. My favourite part of Dishonored 1's base game.

Is it true that all the weaker enemies are male and the stronger ones are female?

>>No mission restart.
>No choose mission.

To be fair they promised a new game+ mode and mission select mode before the year is over, everyone asked for this, and the devs listened and promised those improvements as soon as they can.

>NPCs knocked out non-lethally could be killed by completely unrelated story-moments. For example, two witches died when the ocularum was used.

Sadly this carried over from 1, sometimes npcs will glitch trough the ground and fall to their deaths, ruining a ghost/ no kill runs, maybe they will patch later, or not.

A minor gripe for me is how non-threatening the Bloodflies were. When you first hear about them, the notes say that they need whole teams of people equipped with fire weapons to deal with, it scares you. At first they were scary, all that loud flapping of wings and glowing red, but then you discover that you can just walk up to a nest and spam melee while barely taking chip damage.

Hmm, if you count the witches, yeah, but there are both male and female guards with same hp and stats, the witches can fight better because they teleport and can call the dogs over, but overall with a decent build of bone charms everyone in the game dies in one hit.

>in a fight with multiple guards
>parry one and start choking him
>another guard attacks me and kills him
>"YOU'LL PAY FOR THAT"

Yes the captains in red are all female. The game is SJW propoganda SHIT.

I'll pass then, don't need to pay $ to be forcefed feminist propaganda. Thanks.

Simply not true, not every single elite / veteran is female or male. See pic related for example.

Not that it even matters. You must have aspergers if you seriously care about this type of nonsense.

>use blink secondary power to instantly cut a guard head clean off
>he still manages to scream "I'm blind!"

In truth, I think the overseers, who have much more protection and are harder to kill, are all male, they dont allow females in the overseer order, at least not in a combat position.

Yeah, I do care about propaganda being forced into my entertainment. They won't be getting my money.

You, however can spend your money however the fuck you like.

There is the Abbey of the Everyman (Overseers), which is all male, and the Occular Order, which is all females.

Better level design than Dark Souls

Here is your (you), dont spend it all in one place.

Who fucking cares about the story in Dishonored? It's not like the first one had a good story either, it was generic as fuck.

DH 2 was a vast improvement in everything that wasn't story or VA acting. The level design was fucking amazing, enough to make it GOTY for me.

>Sadly this carried over from 1

I did hear as much, but it seemed extremely prevalent this time around. A lot of people had playthroughs mangled on the same two witches and apparently another level had a similar problem. Kind of feeds into the lack of a mission restart, but I'm glad they're going to put that in along with the mission select.

Thanks, have one back.

vg247.com/2016/11/14/dishonored-2-uk-sales-down-nearly-40-compared-to-first-game/

eurogamer.net/articles/2016-11-24-amazon-slashes-prices-on-dishonored-2-and-watch-dogs-2-for-black-friday

"The expectation that Dishonored 2's sales would rebound in its second week now the reviews are live has not materialised, with the game's second week sales down 52 percent - that's about the same drop-off as the original Dishonored suffered during its second week."

I wish I could do this game with only checkpoints, to carry on with my fuck ups. My autism makes me savescum sometimes, while the game as a whole seems to be much better if you simply let shit happen.

I got discovered once, ran away, and the guards ran up into a bunch of howlers that I didn't know were there. They ended up clearing the way from me while I hid.

Those little things make the game perfect for an ironman run but holy fuck I can't help myself sometimes.

>Who fucking cares about the story in Dishonored?
The biggest complaint for Dishonored 1 is that you get the bad ending if you decide to play anything besides nonlethal
It overshadowed complaints over having no nonlethal toys to play with by a shitload, and it was a big enough issue that the devs had to respond to concerns about it for 2

People don't understand that the plot takes place regardless if you know whats happening. Listening to guards, reading books and environmental storytelling will tell you everything.

Wow. Looks kids, a butthurt man in the wild.

I know what you mean. My first playthrough was supposed to be a no-save, play-as-it-lands game. I was having a perfect non-lethal, ghost run until I got out of the castle and that's when the save scumming starts. First it was "Ah, that was bullshit, let's try again". Then it was "As soon as I get out of Dunwall, I'll start properly". Then it was "Fuck it, I got this far, I may as well finish".

I ended up getting that non-lethal ghost, but a part of me is still a little sour.

>mfw no marked Overseer plot
Wasted potential tbhqwerty. The DLC for Dishonored game will probably be Billie Lurk, considering the setup for it.

This game is amazing. Here's just one such example from chapter 7. If you choose to knock out Stilton, instead of killing him or doing nothing, the house of the present which was destroyed / overgrown when you do nothing / he goes insane is now completely different. Stilton's once posh house full of fancy furniture and trinkets to impress people like the Duke is now a much less, more modest place that represents Stilton much better as a character.

>low chaos Emily run in my first playthrough (3-4 kills per mission usually)
>ghost, non-lethal Corvo run right now
Man I can't wait to do a third run with Emily where I can relax and kill everyone in fun ways. Ghost runs are really stressful but my autism demands I do one.

I don't know what happens if you actually Kill Stilton, does anyone know how his house changes if you choose to assassinate him instead?

Another example is if you save him, his house gets a few new rooms added to it.

...

>Denuvo

*sigh*

>playing with objective markers

I want to play a game not get frustrated constantly because I can't find where to go next

The house becomes refurbished, and you find a note claiming its for sale

But that's how it was in Thief.
Did player become dumber?

Neat, I'm guessing if you save him, he leaves the home for a while, and is just now moving back in or something.

Another really neat detail is apparently Stilton fucking loves Butterflies, and he only has a few displayed when you go there the first time, but when you come back after saving him the entire house is filled with butterfly shit all over the place.

That looks really nice.

>9gag
you need to go back.

That's what you get for putting denuvo on your game

Forgot
>suddenly corvo is Emily's father the entire time

Just started playing this and my game crashes on literally the last area in the game

read maps and objective hints. that's what they're there for.

It was hinted at during the first game that he was her father, if you actually payed attention when playing you might have remembered. There are several notes in the game that say this.

>suddenly

>muh strong wyman
dropped

The targets in this game feel a little more Black and White than in the first game. I either see no reason to kill someone, or every reason to do it.

Like, sparing Breanna felt like an extremely dumb thing to do so I killed her after stripping her off her powers. And others look to simply be dicks or happen to be on the wrong side.

In the first game I had more "not sure if I should spare or not" moments.

This is not some huge RPG world, user. You need to be clinically retarded to need markers in Dishonored.

Is it ever explained what these massive pipe things are, or why houses in the dust district, like Stiltons, are surrounded by massive wood panels?

Shall we gather for cigars and whiskey tonight?

>wood panels
They keep the dust out? I don't think either are explained, but I might've missed some odd piece of text.

How utterly fucking retarded do you have to be to not see the obvious hints in Dishonored 1 pointing to him being the father. Same with Jessamine being the Heart's voice.

Just noticed this too. Megan (Billie) who at the start of the game has 1 arm and 1 eye, regains both when you save Stilton. Damn this game is amazing...

Indeed, I believe so.

>play non-lethal stealth
>realize how utterly boring it is and start killing everyone and using powers
>fun skyrockets

>non-lethal stealth
First rule of non-lethal stealth - avoid non-lethal takedowns like a plague.

Yeah, I am sure all those pirated torrents would really boost the number of sales.

Retard

you're a fucking idiot. vidya is the most technology advanced medium of our time and yet people in the industry and consumers can't grasp the most basic of principles in a free market.

Why dont you enlighten me on what those principles are? The devs have all the right in the world in trying to stop people from stealing their content, and you are free to never again buy a single game from them, everyone wins.

You payed 0 attention in the first game this much is obvious. Fucking autist.

>NPCs knocked out non-lethally could be killed by completely unrelated story-moments. For example, two witches died when the ocularum was used.

(that was a bug that I'm pretty sure has been fixed)

>The devs have all the right in the world in trying to stop people from stealing their content, and you are free to never again buy a single game from them, everyone wins.
that's true. it also true that when regarding a quality product whether it be music, movies, games, whatever; that piracy ignites word of mouth and overall number of sales increases dramatically when the barriers for piracy are lessened. this could be due to the fact of earned media is the most publicly trusted method of advertisement, it could be from a pool of people who only buy after they can experience the product, it could also be from the fact that there are a lot of underdeveloped regions in the world that don't have digital distribution for their region and so that's the only way they get access to it.
either way, the research shows that making content more accessible increases overall sales.
