Complexity certainly helps keep the game interesting and allows for characters to have a variety of strengths/weaknesses giving them unique play styles. This can make them hard to learn, but I think it's worth pushing through that.

No, but people will bitch and moan about not beong able to play the odds if it doesn't. Half the time "deep" mechanics means shitters don't have to worry about mindgames.

No, but they must be above average compared to the other fighting games available at the time of its release, which implies having at least a modicum of complexity so there's a lot of room for players to improve.

Now post lewd Ranma.

RANMA IS PURE

>All this ranma posting as of lately

Ranma-fag is that you?

Nope.

Pic related is ultimate proof. You can pick it up and understand the basics really quickly and thanks to the lack of dumb extra systems, you can actually read/observe strategy and try it for yourself.

They, like most games, need complexity to be truly enjoyable. They also need complexity to be properly competitive

They need fundamentals.

>you will never make passionate sensual love to Ranma, fucking her in a way that makes her feel like a real woman like in those softcore sex scenes rather than hardcore porn movies, kissing all over her body as she giggles from her ticklishness in certain spots

...

There are two types of fighting game players

There are people who want this
youtube.com/watch?v=PGccUdPZBB4
non stop mixup heavy gamestyle that is prevalent in anime games

and people who want this
youtube.com/watch?v=SZx9fWtGaqs
a game of fundamentals

SFV being a rather simple game has caused a massive divide in the community, some people love it, other people want to go back to USF4's zany bullshit.

NO

sf2 hyper fighting is the best fighting game ever made and anyone can play it at a basic level

close but no cigar because ST still has super meter cancer in it

its only a little bit of cancer though

the most important feature of a fighting game isn't the amount of systems or tech

its actually being able to convince other people to play it

st will a new players some really strange ideas like "its ok for fireballs to be good" and "zoning can be interesting too" and "supers dont need to be a cutscene to be cool"

Don't forget some pretty dank option selects that make it seem like you are playing rock paper scissors with two hands.

skullgirls is the best fighting game ive ever played and ive played like 50 over many systems
sadly its even deader than is normal for fighting games

It's all in the tools the characters have. You must have fun characters no matter what. Don't matter if the game is mix up heavy with ToD combos or just plain footsies for 90% of the match.

No but complexity helps

"Hard to learn" is a fucking meme that does nothing but help people stroke their dick to how long they spent in training mode and prevents more people from playing at a cerebral level because they can just win through execution

Bu which I mean hogh execution games are fine too but I don't like them as much, particularly when that execution is just muscle memory and isn't introducing a gameplay option that increases the depth of the game (long canned combos, L canceling, etc.)

dont forget vega

Nope. Having hella advanced tech is mostly a new trend. Even Guilty Gear X2 was a lot less advanced. Older Street Fighters remain the most popular and "best" in a lot of peoples' eyes despite being so easy compared to other games.

The only real exception is MvC2, but even then a lot of stuff was just going from lights to mediums to heavies.

my favourite fighting games are those that i can play on a couch with people who barely know how to throw a fireball, and still have a great time.
prime examples are Tekken, Soul Calibur, Garou and Street fighter 2

Keep giving Ranma love.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

that reminds me my friend told me I was fucking good at marvel 2 when all i did was spam tron assist and learning to chain supers

...

This is correct.
I don't know why people aren't agreeing, or acknowledging this post, cause it's right.

Keep the mindgames in fighting games, feels more satisfying to land a hard read that it does to repeat the same combos over and over

>tfw no thicc ranma-chan gf who lets you explore her soft body

>nigh-unrivaled martial artist
>let's make them fat
Man, you faggots need to ruin everything, don't you?

most of people that plays fighters (even the casuals) will try anything.
My friends are ultras casuals, and we can enjoy playing shit like Real Bout 2 or even Hokuto no Ken on the ps2.
SFV fucked it up with its launch.

>implying genma isnt fat as fuck and still one of the strongest fighters

>thicc is the same as fat

>OP image is deleted
>archive is shitting itself as usual

>sfv
>fundamentals

It really is, even by your definition it's only a matter of degrees

deleted because it violates the mcdonalds copyright laws.

Doesn't really matter when Ranma is canon fit.

No one cares.

Thicc is big ass and tits with a flat stomach
Fat is being fat.

SFV is the most fundamentals heavy game on the market. There is literally nothing other then fundamentals in the game. It's barebones as fuck.

I'd say yes, there needs to be a depth to the game and some tech which shows proficiency and situational knowledge but not to any extreme. Fighting games in their simplest form are a game of RPS, but leaving as is will get very dull quickly. Layering that RPS decision behind a myriad of other variables that needs to be decided within a split second and quickly moving onto the next decision, which all falls apart if the players dexterity isn't up to par with their mental plan is what really makes a good fighting game.

Gief is literally the only character on the roster who has to depend on fundamentals because he doesn't have a gimmick like everyone else. No one else is as honest as him.

>grapplers
>an entire style of character that is designed around forcing 50/50 guesses and nothing but that
>honest

Honest mechanics have counterplay

Gief is low tier for a reason.

Fat is having a lot of fat on your body

fighting games are for adhd underage faggots and autists

what if fell in the spring of drowned thicc girl?

stop
