I know this version is considered worse than the original, but if the original is one of my favorite games of all time, is it worth playing the remake just for novelty's sake?

The remake is better than the original.
Yeah, why not, it's free.
It IS free for you, right?
It's better than the original, anyone that says otherwise is just nitpicking much needed streamlining updates.
Yeah of course. Boy does it have a horrifying amount of tutorial though.
No
But it's also still really good and worth it if you liked the original
Fuck you. The remake is better than the original.
Casual fucks with no understanding of style, pacing and game design.
You can say what ever you want about OoT3D, but MM3D was nothing but butchered mess.''
-For some reason deku has incredibly slow acceleration which makes any movement as deku, especially across lily pads, very painful
-Ice arrows are now next to useless
-Zora Swimming is awful, why do I have to blow all my magic to move fast.
-The boss fight changes are all bad
-Odolwa and Goht just feel like slower, more scripted and more limited versions of the old fights.
-Gyorg new 2nd phase is sort of interesting, but the first phase is now nothing but "look in the water and shoot" which isn't very fun
-Twinmold is the worst offender. The only purpose of the blue mold now is just to be the easy kill for the new donkey kong mask (which btw is also dumb, sword >>>>> punching) so it feels much more like "red mold with a blue mold cameo". Then the red mold takes forever because he has some stupid amount of HP. Feels like a very tedious fight the first time.
-You get the Bomber's Notebook automatically after you go back time for the 1st time, from the mask salesman.
-The bombers notebook coming up with a 5-10 second notification every time you complete one single task, HOLY SHIT this is annoying. If it was quicker it wouldn't be much of a problem, but the fast that it forces you to sit there for several seconds so often is just awful.
Overall still a great game just because its MM but some of the changes can be pretty irritating.
Yes. The boss fights are better.
...
>faster clock
>you learn the Song of Soaring right away now in Southern Swamp.
>made South Clocktown bigger to account for the bank.
>Zora Link revamped completely.
>completely redone soundtrack just like OoT3D
Give it a shot if you've got money, but personally there's no matching OoT3D Master Quest for the value.
yes ofc its worth playing. majoras mask is my favorite zelda game and i had a shit ton of fun playing the remake.
>-Zora Swimming is awful, why do I have to blow all my magic to move fast.
THERE IS INFINITE MAGIC!
>-The boss fight changes are all bad
Wrong, all of the boss fights are better than in the original
>-Odolwa and Goht just feel like slower, more scripted and more limited versions of the old fights.
It's not.
>-Gyorg new 2nd phase is sort of interesting, but the first phase is now nothing but "look in the water and shoot" which isn't very fun
That was eaxtctly like this in the original.
>-Twinmold is the worst offender. the fight against Twinmold is awesome
>-You get the Bomber's Notebook automatically after you go back time for the 1st time, from the mask salesman.
That's not an issue. Also, the bombers themselves are more useful.
>-The bombers notebook coming up with a 5-10 second notification every time you complete one single task, HOLY SHIT this is annoying. If it was quicker it wouldn't be much of a problem, but the fast that it forces you to sit there for several seconds so often is just awful.
The amount of notification for every task is the same than in the original.
How is it free? Is there a promotion running in the eShop right now?
>No! Those things are better, because I say so!
t: (You)
Seriously, they just HAD to slap fucking weak-point eye ball on all the enemies, making them not only look silly, but also added pointless extra action needed to beat them, just to have a typical "Zelda bossfight" mold of attacking them 3 times in same spot.
There is a permanent, everything must go for 100% off sale.
You just have to find the right shop.
hehehe
>-Zora Swimming is awful, why do I have to blow all my magic to move fast.
>THERE IS INFINITE MAGIC!
You're BOTH casuals and equally responsible for the reason that Nintendo games are getting dumber and dumber.
The reason why you have to use magic to torpedo is because they made so many improvements to the swimming that they ran out of buttons and tailored it to the electrolysis. BUT YOU CAN STILL TORPEDO WITHOUT MAGIC. You don't need to buy Chateau Romani to swim around.
Can you tell me more user?
>>No! Those things are better, because I say so!
Not what I said.
>Seriously, they just HAD to slap fucking weak-point eye ball on all the enemies, making them not only look silly,
It look good and fit with the look of the Majora mask. Also, making the boos fight actually harder was a good thing.
Deku spin is exactly the same as the original
Ice arrows are exactly the same
Zora swimming IS awful, generally speaking, I'll grant you that. It's a godsend in the tight spaces of the third temple, though.
The boss fight changes are a mixed bag, but generally good. Odolwa is better in every way, and Goht is exactly the same
Gyorg is MASSIVELY improved.
Twinmold is probably the only boss that IS worse, but even then, it's a lot more involved and interesting than "Find mask, slash until dead"
The bomber's notebook is mandatory, it's stupid they hid it away in the first game. Also you can turn notifications off.
In all cases though, the improved framerate, resolution, and graphics more than make up for any shortcomings MM3D might otherwise have. It's not even comparable.
He means you steal it from someone. Which is deserving of being branded.
A thieves heart is never settled except by branding.
>BUT YOU CAN STILL TORPEDO WITHOUT MAGIC. You don't need to buy Chateau Romani to swim around.
Then, what the fuck have people been complaining about for two years, now? What's the control to torpedo without magic?
>Ice arrows are exactly the same
Not exactly. You can only ice water at specific pre-marked location. Maybe because of hardware limitation?
>Zora swimming IS awful, generally speaking, I'll grant you that. It's a godsend in the tight spaces of the third temple, though.
see
Chop my hands off and I'll just put the stylus in my mouth, I cannot be stopped.
>still a great game
>nothing but a butchered mess
SO WHICH ONE IS IT THEN
I would never steal from another person, that's how I lost my previous 3DS. It was stolen from me at work. It was the special blue X and Y one too. They got that, my copies of Y, OmegaRuby, Smash and Ocarina of Time 3D. Pieces of shit. At least I was able to get my NNID back, but my physical games are lost forever.
You could only ice water at specific locations in the first game too, the only difference is this game signposts it more easily
False. Any piece of water you shot turned into an ice platform.
What there was is that some Ocotrock added some edges and those octorock WERE at specific location. but you could still freeze water at any place of water you wanted.
I don't mind the removal if it was for technical limitation, it's not like it had any actual use outside of the intended place, but it was still a cool feature.
The original runs at 20 fps/17fps with dips. That automatically makes it unplayable to me. At least on a N3DS, you essentially get a locked 30fps the entire time. Not to mention the convenience of having your items on the bottom screen makes it much more playable.
The only downgrades in my eye were putting giant eyeballs on every damn boss and the lighting overall being lighter when the original was darker and moodier. But the 3D is pretty damn nice on the N3DS, made it a really nice experience.
Aiming with the bow using the Gyroscope is a lot better.
>The only downgrades in my eye were putting giant eyeballs on every damn boss
Actually making them more difficult is a plus, to me.
You just pulled that out of your butthole.
You could freeze any body of water in the n64 version.
I made an ice path all the way out into the ocean before.
Yeah dude. The differences between it and the original are minor.
The only one I took serious issue with was the Zelda transform having to use magic to spin like it did before without magic. But thats just because I hated the water temple.
But the games still primo as fuck. You should be able to find it for cheap and its great for just booting up and reliving the joy of old Zelda.
its shit
Hey petty man if you're browsing this thread too,
THESE are valid reasons to not buy a game, which is why OP was asking.
I don't particularly think the changes in GAMEPLAY in this game are significant enough to not get the game if you loved Majoras mask, but not getting it for these reasons in understandable and NOT PETTY.
avoid it because they ruined the astral observatory
both versions are good, and both have their own problems, but the original is better imo.
The atmosphere was a large part of MM and some of it was lost on the new lighting, and higher poly models. Not to mention those stupid eyes on the bosses.
Also i minor nitpick of mine is that the new textures for the blocks in stone tower temple no longer have those small triforces on them.
I always liked the idea that stone tower was built as an attempt to reach the goddesses in the sky.
>This was removed for the total retardfags
Why.
I thought this dialogue seemed kind of out of character. Him saying "brats" doesn't really sound right.
>taking your 3DS to work
you deserved it
I dunno about the gameplay changes but all the visual changes made me puke and drop the game really fast. For nocelty's sake, I'd say check it out, but if your 3DS isn't hacked I wouldnt pay too much for it
I had it in my bag to play at the bus stop and on the bus, not to play at work
They got rid of those fuckin' tubular rainbow stairs in the observatory.
Unforgivable.
People who think the original is better are literally contrarians in every sense of the word.
The changes in 3D are too arbitrary to make it definitive. The bossfight updates are very hit/miss, they didn't need to touch zora or ice arrows, among other regressions/casualizations.
THE SAME BUTTON.
Just push it and Link will still torpedo once he runs out of magic.
huh, here i thought I was gonna read another retard post but I actually agree with all the points you listed, those were all things that bothered me as well when I played MM3D after having played the original when it came out.
I still think the remake is great but you list valid points.
If you have magic, it activates that electric shield but if you don't have any magic left, you still torpedo but minus the electric shield.
