I thought Apex was like an expansion pack with a new map, units, weapons, vehicles and campaign, right? And it costs 30 euros, not 50.
The other DLC you can simply ignore, and you can play with other people who use it just fine.

I've played hundreds of hours of Arma in the past, but I never bought any of the Arma 3 DLC since the Arma series has always been very easy to mod and you can get better things than the DLC gives you for free.

You don't really need any of these DLC's tho.

Karts is a joke and was more to collect money for charity. Marksman is just a weapon packet that is not used by most Realsim/Milsim Groups. Just as the helicopter DLC that adds nothing you absolutely want. The 3 Mini DLC's are not used on any servers but *life and king of the Hill. And if you play Vanilla Arma you should kill yourself.

The only DLC that is probably "needed" is APEX because it ass the Tanoa map which is pretty big and cool as fuck to play on. Every other single fucking group will always tend to use addons like RHS, CUP, MELB, KXS... content packages with massive amounts of weapons and vehicles. Everything next to the content of the DLC's is btw free. So we all get Engine updates, new functionalities, improved game mechanics the Addons/DLC offer.

I thought you meant that Apex cost 53€. Apex's price is allright for the amount of content it has, but holy fuck why did they have to release a jungle map? Their engine is already poorly optimized and all those plants and trees will tank your FPS fo sho'

Tanoa is really well optimized and they found a lot of tricks to make the performance okay. Some of them we can use for ourself in the updated editor or scripting commands.

Jungle Combat feels so fucking great and burning down some shit with a Napalm Script is awesome. Most people have poor FPS because they use a lot of mods that are poorly made. Like the CUP packages or Dragonfyre/Blastcore.

Try out "Liberation" or "Domination" with a clan or milsim group it's really fun if you do it operator-style with a radio mod.

Any good groups to join? I played with /a3g/ for some time really enjoyed it but it's dead now.

Because the people who play arma are asinine retards who do nothing but comform to the developer of the game taking a dump, that increases with every single game update on the playerbase.

You can play on any server as long as you have the mods and in APEX case the Tanoa Map. Just the mini-DLC's like Karts, Marksman, Helo won't stop you. It will kick you out or show a small "DLC" - popup if you try to use a Helo or Rifle from that package tho.

In this screenshot I'm using a marksman rifle without actually having the DLC. It would flash and annoy me every 5 minutes or so.
