Don't Starve

Why is it that I get bored so quickly of this game? It looks like it has tons of stuff to fuck with, but it's the same thing all the time and I don't really get joy out of playing it.

What do you do in this game?

Try not to starve

You walk around leftclicking stuff.
A friend of mine convinced me to buy the DLC and coop edition for 13 bucks and sadly I put 2h+ in it so now I can't refund it.

>Why is it that I get bored so quickly of this game?
Because it's shit.

My experience with it:
>Thought it'd be a rougelike similar to Isaac or Spelunky
>Instead just neutered Terraria with permadeath
I can't stand it either.

>What do you do in this game?
You don't get hungry

>What do you do in this game?

you get frustrated because no matter how far you get some fucking giant is going to come along and destroy everything

playing together is alot more fun

>spelunking and binding of isaac
>roguelikes

Are you trying to derail the thread?

because you're just doing same shit all the time, there's almost no variation and the game is slow as fuck, it's almost walking-sim tier.

>Why is it that I get bored so quickly of this game?

I'd wager it's because you haven't gotten past the survive phase, the sad reality is you'll probably spend the first 20-30 hours doing the same shit over and over and dying a lot before you really start to get to the guts of the game.....not to mention playing with friends adds a pretty hilarious element to the game.

But you really need to survive for at least a year before shit gets real, gearing up to tackle bosses, crafting cool gear, setting up bases specifically for each season....setting up bases specifically to lure in certain bosses/creatures.

I've had an absolute blast in SP, as well as having put 100's of hours in MP with friends as well as fucking around on PvP servers, but I can see how some people might not enjoy it.

My biggest problem with it is that the combat isn't something you get much experience with as you play.
It's mostly gathering, exploring and crating.
So when a boss comes around you're completely out of tune to kick it's ass.
It really hurts loosing your entire run over a boss you haven't even seen all the patterns of.
Maybe it appeals to some people, but I don't really enjoy the resets because of the big grind I have to go through every time.
I like how flat the the tech is though, the fact that there aren't 5 tiers of spears really makes the game feel ... not-artificial in it's grind.
Really, it's as much of a problem with me and my compulsion to have a lot of structures as much as it is with the game. I really, really, really can't enjoy gathering grass, twigs and wood for the 100th time. And yes, I do set up 'farms' for them.
If I could do anything to fix the game it would be to make the bosses function like other mobs, to make them part of bioms.
Yea, yea, call me a casual, I deserve it.

I honestly loved the SP experience and put a shitload of hours into it.
Every new update was a joy to play, but then Klei sold out and decided to focus on the MP.

Fuck their A New Regin updates for DST, few usefull things were added and game is still stale as fuck.
You want world that challenge you? Here are more skins and decor for your pretty base.
You have so many presents to choose from when you start the game and they didn't even touch that.
The worst of all is that they don't give a shit about DS, just fucking move few things from DST to DS and it can be a better game.

The game is great but it has to click in your brain.

Try playing it with a friend that knows what he's doing. You'll see how much potential the game has.

Try not to clump all your shit together in one place, always have a small secondary campfire + chest with bare essentials in it within torch running distance of your primary camp.

Do that and you can mitigate 99% of the ass fuckery of bosses.

Raining frogs though, fuck that noise.

it lacks endgame I think.
I still playes a few hundres hours. My goal was mostly to "build a perfect base".
These are possible goals:

-beat every boss and do everything you can
-find the perfect world
-build the perfect base
-'shape' the world however you like, by placing trees, walls and other stuff in a way you find good-looking
-beat adventure mode

You can download Misha from the workshop if you like. She exists for both DST and DS. To me she gives the game some sort of long-term goals that it needs besides survival.

I do reccommend playing DST with friends more than regular DS though.

But what if i have no friends?

Read the wiki then I guess.

>Every new update was a joy to play, but then Klei sold out and decided to focus on the MP.

What does "selling out" mean?? They make a product for an affordable price, and it becaomes one of the most played MP games on steam?
Just get a girlfriend or friend to play with you. I had a great time with mine.

maybe you shouldnt play videogames then and get your shit together

Long before Together, they said that the game will never have multiplayer and that it was meant to be a single player experience.

Kek, you got a point
