The cheap JRPGs are cheap for a reason. Yet at the same time, I spent a fortune on them via pre-orders.

Just got my PS4 and picked up Digimon,Gravity Rush,and FFXV and I've had the most fun with digimon so far.

Do NOT buy Star Ocean 5 for more than 5 monies. It's a 5/10. 5

Anything besides Bloodborne is folly.

What made it such a weak game to you?

Only played Bloodborne out of the options, but I watched a bit of Star Ocean's gameplay. It seems pretty mediocre.

Bloodborne is still literally the best game on the console.

You know all the criticisms people give FF XV? Imagine that but 1000x times worse. That's SO5.

Honestly, I don't get what's the big deal with bloodborne, sure it's a fun game, engaging, and I'm a huge fan of lovecraft, but it ships with the singular worst anti-feature of rpgs: you permanently lose all souls if you die twice in row (and a slightly more tolerable but still annoying anti-feature where you're forced to farm for healing items periodically). A git-gud game should encourage players to take chances and learn from their mistakes, not engender passivity in them by making death too punishing.

I'm a Talesfag and this was my first venture into Star Ocean, and by god is it terrible. The combat is so boring and repetitive. Tales games have a decent amount of depth to the combat with chaining artes for combos, hitting weaknesses, OTG, overlimit, etc. This game is just spam your same move over and over again to win. The combat is more shallow than a puddle.

it does encourage taking chances. you're fast, have the best dodge in any souls game, and the regain mechanic all promote fast paced gameplay. plus with how many shortcuts and lamp posts shortening your time to get your echoesb i've always felt that they just want you to go as fast as possible

Star Ocean 5 was really lackluster. It had a short and not that great of a story, barely an character development and combat was ok at best.

It frightens me that you know enough about souls to call blood echoes souls but complain about a core mechanic of all the souls games

Bloodborne is the only game among your 3 worth money. And Star Ocean they should pay you to play

I borrowed SO5 from my friend, and after playing it I wanted to beat the shit out of my friend for buying this crap and myself for playing it
