It only becomes linear near the end (it's mostly open world), and it focuses mostly on building a good relationship between the main party, rather than making it a bunch of unlikable retards. Also combat is King Hearts-like action rather than ATB. So no.

I think most of Sup Forums's hatred towards it comes from sheep who want to be cool and have never touched the game, like the people who shit on Hitman Absolution, it's weird how many of them didn't play it but hate it like they did and it beat their mother to death.

I played it and it's pretty crap senpai. Sure the combat can actually be enjoyable, and the worldbuilding is awesome (as expected of FF), but what really kills it is the main cast. What a shitty selection that ranges from boring to annoying (Sazh being the obvious exception). Not to mention the plot takes some retarded turns at time, and the open world is hidden behind 30 hours of pretty hallways where you don't even get to use your ful party.
XV might be flawed, but it thankfully showed that they know a lot of shit fans disliked in XIII, and it was generally a step in the right direction.

They just reversed the order you experience the open and linear part and your party members still will still just stand in huge aoes and just die or in Prompto's case run in close range and then die. Not to mention the parts where you're just Noctis with stealth and no real weapons which is the worst thing in video games I have ever expereinced. Or when a party member just up and leaves for dlc purposes

Luna is dead and I doubt Gentiana would be a party member. Since we need 4 to match Noct and his crew, it's Cindy, Iris, Aranea and a new character. Or Lightning through dimension hopping, Preparing for a new series where Lightning dimension hops into every FF from 1-15 and has adventures there.
Goal is obviously resurrecting Noctis and Luna.
After Ardyn's defeat, the night didn't just simply go away, it's eternal summer now, so everyone is in bikinis. Main quest includes visiting beaches and having fun with the girls.
Enemies are remaining empire forces or whatever.
Guest appearances by the bros and Cor and Gentiana.

Why not go full Twisted Metal? Twisted Metal with ATB combat. You are on a race track and bumping into an enemy car starts the combat, shooting them gets you a preemptive strike. During battle, other then your HP and MP and the enemy, you have to focus on your speed and wheels and remaining on the track too. Phoenix Down can recover a lost wheel, Gas potion increases speed, and shit like that. You can custumise cars like gears from Xenogears.

I doubt XV-2 will ever happen because they can just expand story stuff with DLC like they are already doing.
