no one but me played this so no one but me knows what the combat was like in this game and i dont remember making this thread

that explains a lot

it was literally just legend of the dragoon except you had to stop every few turns to restore sanity if you wanted to use karen and peak at her panties

The creator is supposedly working on a game so don't give up just yet. I hope it's a hd collection because shadow hearts 1 is unaffordable.

It was just a turn based game with an action timeline you could mess with really. The knockdowns and arial bonus werent a deep adition, nor was the judgement ring. I mean i loved the game, but as far as jrps went, it barely had any real depth or strategy to it.

Xenosaga 2 is a personal favorite when it comes to jrpg turn based combat, even if it was complete bull at times.

>turn based """""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""combat"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""

It's close to being really good, but it doesn't go quite far enough, so it ends up a bit repetitive, and a lot of the bosses after a certain point are too easy to kill in one or two turns because Yuri, Joachim, and Lucia are super broken.

i thought the judgement ring was actually really cool.
instead of an enemy just "blinding" you, they messed with your ring and thus it came down to the player wether you hit or not.
also the risk reward of going for a strike or playing it safe

Those two on the left look like Aeris and Rufus from FF7.

Thanks, normalfaggot.

My pleasure.

>tfw this ip is probably dead forever

It scratched the real world+demon shit itch way better than SMT did for me (although I still like SMT).

>jrpgs
rofls thats some permavirgin shit

Why were Midway so fucking good in PS2 days? All their games were pure gold. Don't even hear about them now.

Says the permavirgin

Is this the second game in the series? Is the first worth a playthrough.

It all started to go wrong with Covenant.

pls calm down virgin nerd. i mean no offense

>ring system
>good

K

Thats a good thing user. Wild Arms and Arc the Lad were dead too, then they announced new games to reboot the series. Mobile games.

Is this the one where you have a circle and have to time when to press the button?

>adding skill on top of strategy
>bad

kk

Midway were the publisher

Even found a Source, nothing to thank me for.

The judgment ring is a nice gimmick but I wouldn't call it the best JRPG combat ever.
It wasn't even very challenging or anything either.

I need to get around to playing the third game.

>Weebshit
>Skill
>Strategy
Pick none.

>it's a prequel

On the one hand a game featuring Ben and Kurando's dad (who got to dick Saki, so you know he's probably awesome), but on the other I fucking hate it when games get mired in prequels (SUIKODEN, I'M LOOKING AT YOU).

>non-SMT jrpg
>good combat

> that image

thanks for the laff mate

>men's logic

Combos made Covenant too easy once you were halfway through the game. Most battles basically became Arc Gale -> Arc Rage -> Combo until dead once you had Yuri's good demons.

For the New World fixed this by implementing Stocks and part of the system was keeping both yours and then enemy's balanced, because bosses could and would fuck you up. That being said, FtNW wasn't quite as enjoyable as Covenant because you didn't have Yuri and had to rely on Shania's less powerful transformations.

that's not mana khemia (although I never played shadow hearts)

>Xenosaga 2
>5 minutes charging stock gauges
>another 5 minutes charging boost gauge
>on top of time spent healing/buffing/casting swords to actually set up the fucking combos
>"a personal favourite"
Personally I'm amazed anybody can finish that game without dying of old age

>Most battles
You mean bosses?
For randoms I just did gathering and then whatever the aoe flavor was.
And stocks made bosses stupid in FtNW since you didn't need to spend a turn to get ready for combo anymore.

The series came to its conclusion in SH2 already. SH3 was just plain fanservice.

Yes & yes

>I need to get around to playing the third game.
nah you dont

its just 2 if everything felt really half-assed

>good combat
*smirks*

who the fuck was phone, then?

This is the best JRPG I've ever played. Beat it again and it makes me sad that I haven't played a JRPG like Covenant this gen.

>The WWI Setting
>Fun combat
>Yuri and all his fusions, especially Amon
>Vampire wrestler that fights for justice
>Kurando's Jutendouji crazy grunts when you do normal attacks

Fuck I love this game
