who RO here?
Ragnarok Online
Jesus, I haven't played RO since the original Valhalla server. Played it up until they shut it down, and custom servers started coming about. Made it to level 99 and even got a doppelganger card :)
dropped since hue invasion
Had a lv. 7x Wizard, then the server owner got caught using donation money to buy drugs and pay rent. The last few days of EuphRO was a huge shitstorm.
>see you fags hype up yet another fotw server
>it's completely dead in less than a month
Totally called it. It's so typical, it's just hilarious at this point.
>who else leveled his acolyth in glast heim spamming heal on undeads.
and i miss this mechanic in every other game
aco/priest is the easiest class to level
once you can turn undead it's a peace of cake
Robf
>RO thread
>full of shitstains who only started playing after 2006
It's like retards being nostalgic for the dark ages during the renaissance era.
tu was a priest skill
early aco were always a struggle for me
>you will never login for the first time hearing the sweet bgm
>you will never walk to prontera the first time seeing all the merchants shops standing around
>you will never chill again in old payon hearing the bgm
>you will never warp a player in a location he didn't pay for again
>you will never compete for a mvp with other players again
>you will never kill steal or loot steal again
feels bad
How do you guys get it to run on windows 10. I tried doing the compatibility tricks, but nothing works.
Haven't played since 2004, what's changed?
Everything and nothing.
lol p much. don't fall for the Sup Forums plays meme.
I have never been so blown away at how full of life a city in a video game could be, than the first the time I built up the courage to walk through that random warp in Payon, and walking out into Prontera.
The first time you got married in game, to a cool girl who lived across the country.
Building a Sakkat after farming elder willows for what felt like days.
Exploring the world and getting lost in Mt.Mjolnir and bumping into a random group of players who invite you to a party in coal mines.
Building your character wrong and remaking.
Taking the job test to recommend what job you should take.
>Building your character wrong and remaking.
my very first the char the swordman skilled almost every point in luck because better dropchance you know.
every damn time.
I didn't get the range increase on my archer, I was all about extra dex because damage.
>be acolyte because too poor to afford creamy
>just got teleport, time to explore
>level 2 payon cave with skele archers and soldier skeles
>big job 2 party is rolling through clearing everything
>run into secluded corner of map where 20 monsters had stacked up
>priest kills 1 of the soldiers but then dies
>it drops card
>run and pick up card as priest is being revived
>they rage in caps as revive channels
>spam laugh emoticon
>warp out
>am noob, cherish rare card and store in account inventory item bank thing
>game goes free to play a month later and card goes to complete waste
>better dropchance you know.
That was true for only 2 weeks of the entirety of the game's lifecycle, and they patched it immediately. It's funny to see people still believing that.
always take the random warp
what happened in 2006 i dont remember when i started playing
I think that was around the time trans classes were released on iro?
1z for every death novice coming out of your warp in orc village or glast heim
The first warp I took was to Glast Heim, that is why it took courage to give it another go lol.
nice im in elite company with this loser then
Best mega dungeon ever. It was like being warped into another time and the surface level was pretty safe except for the archers. You'd just walk around and stand in awe of the lord of death before taking a peek inside to get killed by 200 raydric archers and wonder how anyone could possibly be strong enough to survive there. Or wander down into the prison and hang out with all the prim and proper little acolytes and sultry priestesses until Ryoubi snuck up on you and raped you to death.
>see the threads about playing RO with Sup Forums
>get pumped as hell; RO was my first and last MMO
>get in the game
>there's only 3 people on always
Man, I really wanted to believe...
o yea got pummeled in orc village many times, best experience was lucking out as fire mage taking random warp to Louyang. so many sand balls and bugs killed
>implying there aren't servers like AtlasRO or NovaRO with thousands of activre players.
Look at this cute little butterfly, there is no way thing cold destroy me.
Every novice makes this mistake. Creamys are not to messed with.
Hit me with your Sup Forums guild invitation, then.
I wouldn't touch a /v guild even with a 1000km long stick
>Taking the job test to recommend what job you should take.
And sometimes intentionally botching it so not to go get the recommended class and get that sweet 8 defense adventurers clothes [1] with zero weight.
For some classes this was damn near the best armor they could get.
>making a battle aco
fuck leveling to monk without stat point resets was suffering, though its still nothing compared to merchant leveling, fuck that
>these threads are the only good reminder of the good old best mmorpg ever
never let it die Sup Forums
But I would. That was the whole point of my post. It wasn't about how many BRs or pinoys have overpopulated a server, but about having a guild with active members, preferably one from here.
Yeah the Sup Forums guild in Atlas ro is filled with RP faggots.
user, I don't think there's even a Sup Forums guild in that server.
I remember being warped to the courtyard of GH and being able to explore around a little bit thanks to it having relatively few enemies.
Seeing an abyssal knight for the first time scared me shitless. They probably put that fucker there on purpose to scare the shit outta adventurous newbies.
>Grind every day for a week to make 50 million zeny
>Finally have enough money to buy the last piece of the alchemist set
>Drop out of the game as soon as the thing is in my hands, never to return
RO never again.
>abyssal knight
their purpose is to spread bloodshed and disorder in the Dungeon, and must do so unflaggingly to earn Lugonu's favour.
>notice that creamy stops caring if I play dead immediately after hitting it
>get back up and hit it again, repeating the process until it eventually flies away
>keep at it on another one because at this point I was determined to kill one
>fuck up the timings and die
>fuck it, last one
>obliterate it
>instantly level up from the kill, refilling my health and skill pool
>get a surge of adrenaline
It was like a boss battle 10 min into the game. Decided there and then to keep that class permanent, max out a permanent novice two years later shift-throwing ygg leaves onto quve and ludes in nifelheim
It was a he'll of a journey
Anyone played RO2? It was shit right?
Dude they have been shilling for their guild here for weeks and l took the bait and joined...
never again
iRO here. Super Novice master race.
Are they still recruiting? Are they even still playing?
Is it still garbage in Renewal?
>that super novice "buff"
Yeah, thanks devs, i love having spirit spheres and unarmed damage increase
p-post more unit gif? i miss my ro. randgris please
How's the slotted pile bunker working out for you?
Dunno. Go to @go 26 and look for the RPing faggots.
here user
>then the server owner got caught using donation money to buy drugs and pay rent
Kek, what's the story with that?
You sound a little frustrated. Wanna share something with me before I give it a try?
how hard is it to set up a solo private server? i just kinda want to live in RO to be honest
Can someone point me to a tutorial on how to set up a private server for myself, pre-renewal preferred.
>Joined because they told me they are not the typical Sup Forums guild
>They are the typical Sup Forums guild
Maybe if you are into that man but it wasnt for me.
I tried to play it again last week but the game is too complex now, there's so many item sets and classes that it feels overwhelming to relearn everything just to get started and not fuck my character up.
I miss when things were simpler, I still remember leveling my little thief to 8x just waiting for the 2-2 classes update to roll out.
Please elaborate.
ERPing shitters that don't want to actually wanna do anything
ty man you made a nigga happy
Well l was about to greentext but what this guy said
atlas was pretty good until the discord cancer started
>pretty good until discord
So typical mmo community death then
Voice chat room and Sup Forums don't go together. It just creates cliques. When will they learn
And that did.
You couldn't farm him. There were way too few and far apart from each other. Also, he was significantly stronger than most monsters, at least until the lowest levels.
His sole purpose was to intimidate the player. And by god did he succeed.
By putting them on the first map of the dungeon, they successfuly struk fear in the hearts of every weakling stupid enough to enter the portal and was just a glimpse of the hell to come further bellow.
Please do. I always hear about Sup Forums guilds and ERPing on MMOs, but I'd like to hear your first-hand experience on the subject.
I want to believe it's just a myth, but if you say you have anecdotal proof of this one being like this, I might need to forget about going into that server.
You asked for MY /v guild invitation. I have none.
Gargoyles are what's actually dangerous about that place.
>implying I didn't styled all over them with Trog's help
Going full MiBe on them with a Lord Knight actually netted me a bunch of money. That card, m8.
I honestly haven't felt like the game was bad for years. When Renewal first came out it was pretty cruddy but most issues I had were quickly resolved.
Then again, i've been playing RO for over a decade because it's cozy incarnate, so things that bother other people about gameplay changes probably wouldn't bother me as much. I work most of the time nowadays anyways so it's a nice thing to play in short sessions after getting home.
I didn't get to play the one version. The other one, I think Gate of the World, wasn't too different from how you'd expect a 3D ragnarok to play. The early enemies were butal and relentless so you'd need to form an adventuring party or sit and rest between every single fight. Instead of porings it had cute little fruit tiki monsters, I thought they were neat.
The one we got was aggressively terrible because it was just WoW with nostalgia. Hope you enjoyed Izlude, a shitty 4 building town in the middle of the woods, now that you're level 8 you'll never see it again. GTB is a pretty big deal, that's why he's the boss of the first dungeon and takes all of 15 seconds to kill as 2 fresh off the boat adventureres. The outfits were cute.
Honestly when it first came out on steam RO2 was the best community you could ever hope for in a game. Everyone was friendly and helped you no matter what. Instead of being anti-social as per usual everyone would team up in giant leveling groups for hours or camp around rare monsters taking turns. But you know all people really talked about was how terrible the game was and what they were doing with their real ragnarok characters. I don't think many of them stayed, I know I lost interest not too long after hitting the first major town. It's not always true, but its usually a sign of a bad game when they have a main town that's 20x bigger than it needs to be without any real reason for people to stay there. Usually it's just trying to sell you cash shop mounts because your forge is a hundred miles away from the material shops or banks.
You can probably still find more traditional servers that only go up until certain updates.
If I found a low rate server (10 at most) with the original classes, or at most the seccond ones (LK, Arcbishop...) and at least one hundred or so players I would probably give it a try.
Hell, I could even pay for that.
>private servers after 2008~2009
literally modern MMO
>instant warp
>1 day to max level
>afking in main town waiting for events/people to come online
>everyone plays alone/multiclients like 5 characters
>le teleporting sniper and champion memes
>turn undead spam at anubis
Japan Ragnarok Online copy private server when? I want to play it but I sure as hell don't want to put up with the sub + pay2win RNG gachapon
well i meant SN in renewal, not renewal itself. Im neutral on it on the whole, they both have pros/cons and currently renewal is probably more balanced than vanilla ever was.
Still, SN/TK got the shaft when it came to beign relevant afaik, SN itself was a joke class but with enough effort/money could be pretty deadly pre-renewal. After Renewal they just seemed like a complete joke and the "extended SN" buff didnt fix any of that besides giving it a few more spells and faith to up its HP pool
>want to make a 4fun Alchie
>can't do shit without homun
>will probably be forced to throw acid shit later one
Why can't I just stick to hit things with my axe?
>Gargoyles
I WANNA BE THE VERY BEST
All private servers sucked, they fragmented the community away from the main servers with the promise of increased drop rates that essentially meant that rare items weren't as special.
I fapped 3 times today already, please stop
Pretty easy, even a retard can do it.
>ITT: Its 2007
>andzRO for about a year and a half
>those bitter fights between divinity and serenity
>was in a smaller guild that worked with other guilds to hold keeps that we would share dungeon runs on
>iirc it was divinity that was found out to be exploiting an acid creating trick and was rolling tons of alchemist to break everyone's equipment during woe
>instead of trying to fix it andz just pulled the plug
>one of the other gms tried to start their own server but it never really took off
>People nostalgic for pre-trans
>The shittiest WoE
>Assassins, Alchemists, and Blacksmith can't do anything
>Hunters, Saders, Priests, Bards, Wizards and Dancers do the same thing they do after they trans
>Monks still one hit kill but slower
>Rogues still trip but slower
>Knight's wet dream as they have enough reductions and health to survive 60% of AS and are the emp breakers
Pre-trans WoE was boring
We really can't go without this, right?
>Trying to get a pet deviruchi
>be an addict since 2009 when the game went free to play
>win 10 update ducked up somehow, get direct x error even though I have it and Blend visual studio it asked me to install
>can't play for weeks and go through withdrawals
>new updates keep churning out, realized that it wasn't worth the effort to catch up at this point
>realize reading RO threads here and there is enough for that itch
Finally free
What the fuck is even a doppelganger card, sounds like a faggy thing only faggots would collect.
I played iRO chaos for a while. What.
Well obviously that too.
>server files got leaked before launch
>ragnarok literally started dying from day 1 and had to drop a lot of shit because they tried to deal with all the private servers popping up
rip what could have been
>Alchemists
Nigga you still had Acid Terror, the only thing that changes in your list is that Alchemists (who shouldn't be there in the list in the first place) got replaced with Knight
>blacksmiths still do jack shit
>ass-ass-in ass-ass-out's only get people who are retarded
WoE was always shit when it came to balance
It adds 10% ASPD, it was a big deal in pre renewal when MVPs still could get stunlocked.
Because you should be hitting them with your cart and down 4 dudes at once instead of tanking 4 dudes killing them one at a time.
I played axe but with plant support. Farming plant bottles was the hardest part, because by then all the mandragora were being camped by rogue bots. But you just set up some dryads or geos to heal you, drag stuff back to your weapon platform, and smack dudes to death.
All the homun are good if you plan on playing the game instead of sitting afk. Since they don't get the flee penalty from multiple monsters attacking them they'll tank while you cut things down. The only really bad one is Lif since her stats are garbage until you level her up and then she's still weakest of the bunch.
Honestly I kind of want to try it again since blacksmiths have real axe skills now, but while it's really easy to level up the first time transcendent still takes forever and ever. Especially as a blacksmith since they have so little killing power and I don't have the money to take advantage of any gear or cards.
Fucking hell, now I have to download this again. I wonder what class I'll roll, though.
Not that guy but just join them and see for yourself.
>Played the longest running RO private server in history for almost the entirety of its life
>It's been dead for 18 months already
>Dig up old screenshots two days ago
>Find screenshots of mine from xmas 2006
>we have a huge chat of 50+ people where we constantly nostalgia about the past while staying in touch
We're always talking about trying new games and getting depressed because nothing even comes close to the wild ride we built for ourselves during our teen years. We can't go back to those days, partially because we're not 14 anymore, but also because the way MMOs are made has changed on a fundamental level at this point. I've given up on MMOs entirely after Tree of Savior turned out to be an indifferent cashgrab.
Tell me, Sup Forums. Where are all the VRMMOs at? You'd figure they would start showing up already at this point but there are none.
Theyre still trying to work VR into actual games, VR MMOs wont be a hing til 2020 at the earliest
I mained Alchemist and Creator after the trans, it was a shit battle class and homunculus didn't help. Its only there for the Coating bottles
Whitesmiths can be great in WoE, better aggressors than Lord Knights HSCR will kill anything short of a Paladin. Assassin Cross became pretty damn good, the pre-trans versions of these were just shit.
when yo whole squad in payon
