No blind fanboy 10/10 bullshit, and no tards that clearly hate the full final fantasy franchise.
Genuine opinion from people like me who generally like the games.
I dont trust the reviews, most are probably paid for.
Is it worth getting? And where does it rank in the series?
James Ward
7/10, with some glaring errors that are apparently getting fixed in the future. I'd wait until it's patched, personally. My first playthrough was ruined by absolute bullshit, yours doesn't have to be user.
Mason Bell
Is it worth getting? No. Not right now. Wait for some updates and the dlc to come out. These will add content that was cut from the story for some reason. I'd personally give it a 7/10. It's DECENT. It's better than 13, that's for sure.
Jaxon Wilson
9/10. Flawed but it made it up for me in the end with the main 4 and the payoff in the end.
Owen Parker
So if all the fixable shit were patched, where does the game stand then? That doesn't seem too bad
Tyler Peterson
Why did it feel like Insomnia literally had no standing army + nowhere else was worth invading besides their capital city? It didnt even feel like I was in a country being beseiged by an army once
Brody Adams
You have got to be fucking kidding me. The ending is the worst part about the game. Do not listen to this user. He's about as objective as CNN.
Nolan Morris
For me personally it's a 9/10 already but even if they fixed all the problems and even when we get the other party members DLC episodes I still think ti will be a 9/10.
Nah it's easily one of the best, the emotional payoff is stronger than any other FF ending yet, no other FF party even comes this close.
William Bell
This. Ending was shit. Avoid it for as long as you can. Enjoy your road trip. I didn't and I regretted it but I didn't even know about the ending at the time.
Lucas Bailey
Your post lacks a new IP so I'm going to assume you are responding to yourself.
John Price
I'll agree that no other Final Fantasy comes close to the emotional level but eh, ending was still lame to me.
Kevin Stewart
Jesus Christ faggot he said real opinions. The game is NOT a 9/10. The ending is nice and sappy but the game is a solid 7.5/10
Daniel Thomas
7/10 the combat is ultra simple and easy but still enjoyable. Camera is fucking awful as soon as there is an obstacle. It has the typical open world game problem of most side quests being monotonous busy work and the world itself being mostly uninteresting.
Tyler Green
eh.
Ayden Ortiz
definitely worth getting, not perfect but very fun regardless, with a story that'll either hit you, or go right past you
I'd say there's nothing extremely like it in the series, it's unique but familiar
I guess the one it's most like is 6
Owen Jenkins
It's a solid meh
Camden Mitchell
looking at any footage and you should see that its trash. FF hasn't been good for over a decade and a half though so there's really no surprises there
Landon Russell
It struck me as unfinished in terms of the story and combat.
I love all the PS1 and PS2 Final Fantasies, but this one was very disappointing. The story was disjointed and poorly fleshed out, with random shit just *happening* with little explanation or context.
I'd give it a 6/10 because when there are highs, those highs are fantastic. The story could have been one of the best in the series if they hadn't of cut it all down so much. I love the villain, and just like the story he had SO MUCH potential. FFXV has so much potential, but it falls very short of that potential.
Zachary Lopez
to be completely honest with you, this isn't a final fantasy game, its kingdom hearts with a final fantasy paint job
Liam Gutierrez
>9/10 >Flawed
It's pretty fucking flawed, how'd you get to 9/10?
Jose Roberts
Sappy? Uh, what? It's bleak, depressing, and nihilistic.
Jordan Evans
I don't know, it depends. There are a LOT of minor problems that just irked me beyond belief. If every technical problem were fixed, I think the bros would still be repeating dialogue, the exploration would still be meaningless, the side quests would still be MMO tier, the story would still be uninteresting, and the characters would still be largely unlikeable except for your boys but the game itself would play a little bit better.
Maybe a 7.2/10? I maintain that it is a deeply flawed game that needs more than a little patching, it needs a revision and a lot more meaningful content to be great.
Leo Walker
Read the whole sentence and you might find out.
Sebastian Williams
>preferring a slapdick happily ever after ending Go back to your safe space faggot.
Dominic Thompson
I want you to elaborate, then. I don't see how the baffling problems in the game can be forgiven just because you like the party and got a kick out of the ending.
Jaxson Myers
With a wicked sense of humor? The ending kiss scene and "you guys are the best" is sappy as fuck
Camden Green
its worth renting OP, but no way in hell this is worth $60, and ive have been a final fantasy fan since FF6
Levi Edwards
The game is amazing until the Leviathan boss fight. You'll beat her and think "is that it?". From then on out it just drops the ball completely and rushes the hell out of the story. Chapters go by to quickly with too little explanation. Characters take major plot details like its nothing. Either you'll delude yourself into thinking it's amazing and shitpost about it, have your heart broken and hate Tabata for not finishing the damn game, or realize it's flaws and genuinely enjoy the game despite them
Jeremiah Kelly
Give some ratings for other RPGs. Like an example of what you consider a 10/10, 7/10, and 5/10 at least. That, and how do you feel on action games as well as turn based RPGs?
Kinda hard to give a good rating for you otherwise. A lot of people are too invested from 10 years of hype, multimedia projects, and having put a lot of playtime into the game to put it down any. Some may not be fans of turn based RPGs and like where they went with it so they give it bonus points for that, or the opposite with people who don't like action. Some people may really be into action RPGs or RPGs in general and grade it compared to things like the Tales of or Ys series in terms of gameplay, music, character development, or story.
Personally I think it's a 6/10.
Isaac Sanders
All opinions are real doesn't mean you have to agree
Justin Cooper
He specifically said no 10/10 blind FF fanboys. Just because it had a "nice ending" doesn't bump a 6/10 game to a 9
Henry Wright
The fact they went out of order with those scenes and then used licensed, vocal sad music for the credits made it obvious it was fishing way too hard for EMOTIONS.
Nolan Rivera
I just beat it last night.
I guess more or less what this guy said. I enjoyed it but felt it could have been amazing had they not rushed so much near the end.
Supposedly they're going to fix some of the story with dlcs.
Hudson Gonzalez
It's literally the best ending in a Final Fantasy to date. Not that that's a super high standart, but it's easily one of the high points of the game.
John Johnson
What the fuck was the deal with that Chapter 11, btw? It feels like it's finally about to get started and then it just ends.
Liam Gray
VTMB is flawed. It's still a 8 or 9/10
Kevin Parker
What was so good about it? I don't think it comes close to IX or X, personally.
Noah Thompson
Final Fantasy hasn't been good in over 15 years, and counting.
Thomas Sanchez
Hey now
Has it REALLY been that fucking long
Isaac Howard
It's far from a perfect game. But it's got enough to keep you hooked. Definitely. Worth getting.
Benjamin Young
Depending on how you play the game can and will be short. The first part is open world and the latter part will be a linear experience that will usher you from one chapter to the next. Make sure to read the notes that are lying around during the late game.
You can bank EXP and in order to level up you will have to rest for the night. If you play wisely you can maximise your levels gained by resting in places that double or even triple your currently banked EXP.
The day and night cycle pissed me off since it is dangerous to go questing during the night and high level enemies will spawn in low level areas. You won't have a driver who automatically brings you from point A to point B during the night. Once you gain access to chocobos, you won't be cucked out of your progress during the night.
Chapter 13 is cancerous but also atmospheric. Story wise I am not sure what to tell you since everyone has a different opinion but there are certain flaws that can't be denied and if you read the notes I mentioned earlier you'll have an easier time understanding things.
Other than that, I really like the synergy of the 4 protagonists and the sidequests plus dungeons are pretty fun.
Jordan Howard
Yes it is. 7.5/10 is your opinion. 9/10 is my opinion.
Real opinion doesn't mean lower scores.
Adam Sanders
Final Fantasy X (in my opinion the last respectable game in the series) was released in 2001.
Camden Perez
Where did I say that's the type of ending I wanted? That would have been shit too if everything just worked out perfectly fine with no one getting hurt.
Adrian Torres
The game is mediocre. 6/10 at best, it drops off hard in the second half, has a terrible cast, uninteresting story and bad combat.
Noah Nguyen
>no other FF party ever comes this close IV, V and VI are so much better than this. Hell, even X's party was better
Juan Reed
I'm about 3 chapters in, and pretty much ignoring the story. But the gameplay is super fun, and the main characters are actually super good; they're way better than they have any right to be. I wouldn't say it's a perfect game by any means, but on the whole, it's great. Never played any other Final Fantasy games, if that affects anything.
Sebastian Sullivan
What were the good points?
Jaxon Robinson
I will be as honest as I can.
The game has issues yes, like shitty camera and bushes that get in your way, eidolon fights are mostly QTE and some parts during the final chapters are not handled well, they clearly needed more time to flesh things out.
That being said, the fights and combat is fun, the hunts and side activities are well done, the world itself is pretty nice, characters are interesting and fun, even the villains, the music is excellent and is always on point.
Would I recommend it? Yes, 8/10 would play a second time after they implement the fixes to the story and gameplay in later patchea, which will be free
William Sanchez
All good points were being able to play as my boy Sasuke. :^)
Joseph Ross
I spent a lot of time going off exploring the world, taking in as much as I could, listening to all the radio reports, the banter through the different quests, just walking around, after different events etc. I never felt lost with the story since I was paying attention and was invested from the start of the game.
For combat too I already had a good grasp from the demos but in the full game it felt much more fluid and responsive, it just felt better which made playing it more fun, the ascension abilities also add some good technical skills that makes it feel better too, same with trying different weapon sets and such.
Going around the world had a ton of atmosphere that I loved, mixed with the great music and general vibes it always rubbed off well on me, it felt like we were going on an actual adventure, even if running through some empty areas or more fuller areas it felt like an actual world that lived.
Even in the later chapters with 13 that dragged on way too long but I still liked the atmosphere in that isolation as well as Ardyn's constant fucking with Noctis. Even though I wanted to expore the world of ruin I was fine with it by the end.
There was so many little things that just bring it up too from the presentation, animations, things you see here and there and so on.
The sum of all the parts for me gave me a 9/10 despite me recognizing flaws in the game, the ending really hit hard for me.
I do still hope they do fix some of the things and I do still want to explore world of ruin.
Levi Wright
In the end, did Luminous end up being especially good at anything over Unreal?
Henry Hernandez
But that isn't a 10/10. It's a 9/10. And in no universe is this a 6/10 game.
Logan Rodriguez
FFXV is like those old SNES games that were kinda shitty but you just love them
Owen Brown
I agree with this user. The minimum objective score would be a 7 and max would be an 8.5
Logan Wood
I disagree largely with this, but that's your opinion bro, thanks for elaborating
Kayden James
X was the last good one and then Enix came in and fucked everything up
Gabriel Martin
It is middling in the series. I like it but the story is lacking. The 4 characters you run with have the biggest depth of character that final fantasy has ever had. The combat system is a little shallow. Kind of Kingdom hearts melee combat meets FFVIII magic Drawing system. It is nice that the game is full over a hundred tracks from prior final fantasy games.
It is The Witcher 3 mixed with Final Fantasy. If that is your thing than you might like it.
Jason Howard
I give it a 7.5/10
Loading times are unacceptable, the story is missing information and too much happens off screen, the main game is too short, sidequests are nothing but fetch quests with no addes story except after obtaining the Ultima Blade and even then it was not much, and driving is terrible.
That being said I have 65 hours in and haven't completed everything yet. Dungeons are really fun and wish more were like pitioss dungeon, characters are likable and feel like your bros, combat is great, the music and scenery might be my favorite thing in the game.
Shit review but I'm at work.
Elijah Flores
OP here's an idea.
Post your favorite FF games, and from that, I'm pretty sure I can tell whether or not you'd enjoy FFXV.
Michael Bailey
Did it sell well enough to warrant a sequel? I've seen plenty of footage of it, to me it seems there is an excellent base to expand upon on future games. But will there be future games? This one took so long already..
Robert Adams
>sequel
Lincoln Lewis
No sequel confirmed. Enjoy the plotholes, Goyim
Landon Peterson
So you're literally just asking someone to call it mediocre/okay then?
You don't want a review, you just want someone to say buy it.
Ethan Brown
8.5/10 it's really good and fun but it could and should have been better
Blake Rivera
Sounds like he's wanting actual opinions instead of FF shills
Angel Lee
Ok, but what about Final Fantasy XVI in a similar open world style? Refine the gameplay, sidequests and story?
Eli Cooper
I hope not, honestly
Cameron Lee
There's not gonna be a sequel when it's on the season pass train, senpai.
James Miller
Wots this, looks like some trigger shit
Liam Cruz
Yes. Once price drops. It's a 6 or 7 out of 10.
Story and pacing are terribly bland and characters are kind of stereotyped as in it's obvious who the comic relief is, who the muscle is, who the strategist/ nerd is. They are not very interesting but you do get to know them on a way that would be really difficult with a party of 8 or if you started as total strangers. So there is depth on uninteresting characters.
The story lacks urgency for the sake of strolling around the world too. I never really got invested on the plot.
As for the gameplay it nails some shit here and there like friendly fire magic, counters and teleporting strategically... even though it's not really necessary to use any of those features most of the time and it's mostly for the sake of introducing some variation to the otherwise two button press dullness of the combat.
I didn't like the open world/ quest system though. I mean, it's not bad because it's not really different to fetch quests of any other current RPG but i didn't really felt like doing those things on a FF. I don't mind a mini game here and there but questing is not something i want on FF.
I won't say the game is bad because it isn't but it seemed too inspired on what ARPGs are today so my impression of it is "it's just one more of the bunch".
I would say it's okay but not a particularly memorable game.
Music is ok even though all themes sound kind of alike and the art design is too inspired on reality for my taste.
So there, 6/10 or 7/10.
Jose Rodriguez
If you play and end the story mode, you gonna be with so much questions. Look, that game has the potencial for GOTY, but for this, it needs to be finished.
Carter King
Yeah but there's no one here that can actually give it to him. What if someone genuinely likes it enough to give it like 8-10/10 but they're not super shill about it, or someone who genuinely gives it a 0-3/10 but has reasoning?
I just feel like the whole startup op had wasn't a good enough explanation. It's like he's saying "What do you guys think but you can't like it or hate it"
Wyatt Garcia
Beat it last night.
Theres way too much to discuss on the game. Too much happens off screen and the entire game was trying to get me to feel something that I just couldn't I put 40 hours into it and in the end I was so emotionally uninvestested that I picked a picture of Cup Noodle to take with me.
Ardyn was a good villain but only if you know his backstory
Gameplay is MMO tier with combat that wants to be Bayonetta or Kingdom Hearts so bad.
Music is just forgettable aside from 2 or 3 tracks.
It feels the same as MGSV honestly. Feels rushed, unrealized, and uninspired for damn sure. Lots of character tropes and whatnot are used with literally nothing coming off a fresh.
I didn't die once. That has to count for something. I can't see how anyone could have had a difficult time. You can just spam phoenix downs and elixers while Noctis or whoever gets invincibility frames.
The romance "sub-plot" I guess you would call it feels...weird. Noctis himself never says an "i love you" or even kisses Luna until the last cutscene. Compare this to Yuna and Tidus from X and you can see the glaring differences.
What did I like about the game though? Not much. The out of engine cutscenes were good, combat was boring but it worked (how many people didnt get Regroup i have to wonder), and some of the characters were okay though the ones you get the most screen time with have the depth of a puddle and are just cardboard cutouts of well rounded characters.
5/10 apply yourself square
Matthew Rodriguez
There are some glaring design issues with how the open world works and the story has some serious pacing issues. Character development for non-party members is very slim. Several of the supporting cast needed much more time on screen for how important they were, including the antagonists.
That said, the gameplay is okay (it'll be too shallow for many but it's an FF game not a dedicated action game), the main cast is solid, the game looks and sounds good. There's a sense of scale in some parts of the game that you'd be going to something like the God of War games to replicate. It's an interesting change. I got 32 hours out of playthrough 1 and did a light amount of side content. I ended at level 47, which I gather is fairly standard.
No score because fuck you, read words and make up your own mind instead.
Ayden Turner
I honestly would like a sequel but this game is pretty self containing. I don't see how it could have anything built based on the existing story. I had a lot of fun with the open world. More party members would have been cool plus the old combat system. I don't dislike the new one tho.
Ryan White
I just want genuine opinions.
If you think its 10/10 or 1/10 fair enough.i just want some reasoning.
Most other threads devolve into 2 groups of mongs that dont put forward proper arguments.
By discounting the 1s and 10s i feel the opinions left will be more genuine.
Aaron Cooper
it was good, but it could have been the best if you like ff, you will feel the same
Michael Walker
Literally everyone but you understood the op.
Isaiah Campbell
It's certainly better than II.
Grayson Cruz
Hot as fuck. I don't know what i like so much about the trigger esque simple animation style
Leo Russell
They sacrifice shading for more frames so the animation comes off as more fluid and therefor more realistic. It's also cheaper to make that way.
Evan Young
image search it and the Gelbooru comments say what it is
Jack Gray
A side note - overall my experience with the game was positive. There are definitely quite visible seams where things have been removed/slotted in over the course of the 10 year development. That was bound to be the case.
There was only one point where I was incredibly frustrated with the game, and it's because I had to go slow (the other characters will yell at you if you go too fast and interrupt you by removing control briefly). That happens once for a 30 minute segment of a 32 hour playthrough and overall that's not awful.
Brayden Cook
Not OP, just some dude who clicked on this thread curious about the game too. Thanks for the review and the comparison to MGSV.
That was the most disappointing gaming experience I can remember and I regret ever paying for it. Will definitely hold off on FFXV until the price is below $20 and/or they have patched/updated all the shit people are saying needs corrected.
Matthew Carter
Ravus isn't playable though
Jack Rogers
51 hours in on Chapter 7. Really enjoying it. I've been playing it slow because I've been busy. I'm enjoying just exploring, and the combat is simple but not too bad.
Wyatt Hernandez
I didn't care for the music, the plot felt like a much skimmed down FF6, characters didn't develop and they kept saying how they were best friends but it never felt like any kind of effort was put into showing it like how Tales of series skits give a lot of personality throughout a game, gameplay was alright.
6/10 it's ok but I wanted better.
Zachary Robinson
>It feels the same as MGSV honestly I'm feeling you there, brother
It will get better
Chase Powell
>all these idiots giving numerical ratings
this generation is so retarded
Jose Jackson
same with the morons bringing up MGSV
Robert Ramirez
Type 0 ending/10
Jaxon Collins
How else would you put across in simple fashion, your overall opinion of a game?
Jose Adams
Nearly every numerical rating is coupled with an explanation you autist
Jonathan Sanders
by summarizing
giving your IGN score means nothing
Bentley Peterson
yeah like this brilliant post
Ayden Perez
I mean a lot of people give a description, and then a number.
Ian Gomez
You mean like
And then again as the thread continues?
Jeremiah Phillips
>IGN came up with the scoring system
Hudson Perry
Are you upset that the summary wasn't to your liking you little autist?
