>tfw poor and have to install free2play cyborg arms
>have to pay in-arm currency to use my thumbs
>or microtransactions

idk, we have this irl

>play deus ex HR
>a good half of peoples has arm or legs prothesis

why are there so many crippled in the near future ?

Maybe they chose too?

There's a reason they call them augmentations and not prosthetics.

because eidos is retarded. they actually think people would have healthy limbs amputated just so they could jump higher or punch harder.

But it does OP.

youtube.com/watch?v=_qUPnnROxvY

Yahtzee said it best, it's a game about people willing to better themselves vs. the sore losers.

Of course it does

youtube.com/watch?v=io-jtlPv7y4

no it's a game where half the population has lost their minds. if you're not a soldier there is no benefit to having those augs.

Everything irl feels post-whatever I read about cyberpunk as a kid. I don't like it, I'm scared of everything.

>if you're not a soldier there is no benefit to having those augs.

>implying CASIE wouldn't easily allow you to ascend any corporate ladder
>implying discrete leg augs couldn't make you a star athlete
>implying cloaking tech has no use outside of military applications

At least put some effort in. Hell, the whole "aug incident" was created by a fag butthurt that he couldn't handle augs.

>lets CUT OFF MY LEGS so I can stand around on the streets being drug addicted for the rest of my life
>bettering themselves
Complete retardation.

We are actually living in a cyberpunk era.
Not like Deus Ex, but we are.

So when you go outside, what's something that might threaten you for example? I walk outside and see trees, cars, some houses.

>I can stick with flesh that will become worse over time and eventually fail
>Or I can get legs of nigh-indestructible metal that carry me faster than flesh legs, jump higher, absorb impacts better and can store stuff

Not to mention it's entirely possible to be aug-ready without neuropezyne. But of course, humanity first fags will pretend like that doesn't exist and continue to defend their inferiority.

so you haven't played the game? the legs are anything but discrete. besides, professional sports leagues would inspect you for augs. and there are already established aug leagues mentioned in picus e-mails, so there's too much competition for an average joe. cloaking isn't a limb augmentation, and it's expensive and not street legal anyway. it would increase crime rates tenfold if it were. and casie again is not a limb augmentation.

None of that physical improvement would be possible without full body armor, it doesnt matter if your legs can produce a lot of power when rest of your body would fail at the tension.

Ghost in the shell has a more interesting world than deus ex

Are you pretending to be retarded or just mentally handicapped. There are WAY more augments than just prosthetic arms. One of the missions you do is to help a girl who owes a lot of money for the augments she got to help he be a better stockbroker.

It does exist. You're just part of the irrelevant part of the world where William Gibson's stories don't happen.

>Reminder that Blade Runner is set in 2019

Workers in industry are augmented. Soldiers are augmented. Bookers and managers have brain augs. Athletes have augs and compete against other augmented ahtletes, like a F1 pilot attesting the technology of the company he's representing. Doctors have augs. And finally, normal people (who can afford it) have augs because they're pushed to it via intense marketing and to stay competitive if their field requires it.

Have you played the game ?

>barely any cyberpunk movies

>Only like 1 or 2 half decent movies about transhumanism that's not about AI or sentience in robots

Seriously the augmentation thing in Deus Ex is so fucking interesting and I can't think of more than 1 or 2 movies that delve into the matter.

>Past the year 2000, and we're not living Raygun Gothic with Jetsons cars and silly rocket ships as if they were hippie vans

Cyberpunk is overrated. Give me chrome spacesuits with bubble helmets and chicks in skintight spacesuits with silly ray gun designs.

He probably has but is so retarded he legit thought the only augments were prosthetic limbs.

Jesus christ some people on this board have down syndrome

>>tfw nearly 2017 and cyberpunk world still doesn't exist irl
The future is now, corporations own you, technology isn't improving your quality of life. This feels cyberpunk as fuck.

>we're just getting the dystopia without the cyberpunk part
shit sux mang

>barely any cyberpunk movies

What is this meme.
jinteki.industries/cyberpunk_movies.html
Akira
GITS
GITS 2

That's not IRL

>The future is now, corporations own you, technology isn't improving your quality of life. This feels cyberpunk as fuck.

Yeah, but without all the cool shit

You're both retards. The user you're addressing was specifically arguing about visible limb prosthetics like legs and arms.
>if you're not a soldier there is no benefit to having THOSE augs.

Half of those aren't cyberpunk, just sci-fi and a lot of them are shit.

My nigga, Return to Planet X is one of my favorite Timesplitters levels because of this
Come to think of it, Neotokyo is a pretty good cyberpunk level too.
Fuck, Timesplitters 2 is just GOAT

We're living in an age of Deus Ex in the making.

youtube.com/watch?v=3YLwTJMyoB8

We still don't even have a decent fake one user.
I really hope 2077 doesn't shit the bed.
I'm imagining it will play like an AD police files game and that would be good enough.

The only thing missing robotic limbs and human tier AI.
>Corrupt politicians
>Personal data being sold to corporate entites
>DIY gadgets and guns
>Food is mostly synthetic

Yeah some are less related, some are more. But there's plenty of stuff to watch if you're not a complete pleb.

>anime

>haha i triggered him

cyberpunk is a lot more than just the setting senpai, not many of those movies have it as anything more than a bit piece outside the setting.

you don't seem to understand that i'm talking specifically about average people getting limb specific operations. that's never going to happen, having a limb amputated is one of people's greatest fears. and in HR they walk around like it's a fashion trend that they can take off later. no. and there's also the unlikelihood of healthy athletes in the prime of their lives chopping off the limbs that made them into famous millionaires. you're gonna work your ass off your entire life only to replace your masterpiece with a machine? no.

>cyberpunk is a lot more than just the setting senpai
Not really, cyberpunk is exactly a setting. Hi-tech, low quality of life. Anything else is your own personal interpretation.

>literally copying the first lines of wikipedia
filthy pleb

>Using Ronnie to attack anime

Fucking retard.

>you don't seem to understand that i'm talking specifically about average people getting limb specific operations. that's never going to happen, having a limb amputated is one of people's greatest fears
You're expressing your own personal concern as a general rule for everyone, that's why you're wrong. People mutilate themselves all the time with ridiculous piercings, extensions and implants. They ruin their faces with plastic surgery and the like, some people would be all over this shit if it was available. Another factor is competition, if those damn cyborgs are steeling are jerbs because they're faster and more capable, you will need to remain competitive, so you'll get that shitty implant you don't want.
Now, I agree that it wouldn't be the entirety of the population, but I can see a significant chunk wanting or feeling forced to.

I didn't get that from wikipedia, you're just wrong, my dude. Stop bringing your headcanon into my conversations.

Yes you did and FYI giving something a cyberpunk setting doesn't make it a cyberpunk movie.

>there are people so afraid of death they believe this will happen in their lifetimes
>these same people probably mock the religious for wishful thinking and delusion

>Yes you did
nope.
>giving something a cyberpunk setting doesn't make it a cyberpunk movie.
It absolutely does. Alien is a cyberpunk movie.

"Cyberpunk" is a pretty loose term

>you will never hit a megacorp with your squad and jack into the mainframe to steal paydata

you are a pleb

plastic surgery isn't remotely comparable to having fucking limbs cut off. you're just desperate and reaching at this point. the game portrays a much larger consumer base than the relative few who get plastic surgery done.

Hide a stigma and market something enough and people will flock to it. Imagine if Apple released augs and you can get the picture.

You're looking for a detailed answer and I can't give you one. Technology, race, culture, income, health, career, quality of life, hobbies, fears. Everything aligns with the themes inherent in high tech/low life. That particular blend of social/financial technology and modern day serfdom I guess. I'm not speaking aesthetically and I'm not sure how to further contextualize the comparison. I DO KNOW however; that everyone is a threat to some degree and fuck this planet.

Eidos montreal is as reality based as an average anime studio. No point in debating wether the game is realistic when it wants to be anime.

you can't hide the fact that YOU HAVE TO GET YOUR LIMBS CUT OFF.

The world is run by corporations. It's pretty cyberpunky.

If a Cybereye was available right now that allows you to record and stream video, and no body rejection would occur, would you give up your working eye for it?

It does.

We're growing more and more connecting to computers and our digital lives. A corporate businessman is president. Government surveillance is at an all time high, becoming more invasive by the day. Bionic limbs are actuall worth a damn. VR is on its way. People are tired, angry and nostalgic, escaping the grim present with consumerist shite.

We're already there m8, it just happened gradually so you didnt notice.

As we learned in SOMA this will have no effect on your consciousness. You will still die, the only satisfaction it gives is that a conciousness similar to your's will continue to exist.

Simply a working replacement, that doesnt do anything extra from what a normal eye is capable of, would be godsent.

>Puritanical Mid-Level office manager being a shitbird two a couple employees in particular
>They get brain augmentation, he loses his job for being a shitbird and due to their superior cognition multitasking etc

Remove puritanical and insert whatever you want. People would hate for normies to be able to get a leg up on fucks pulling strings

Then why can't i hack peoples eyes yet and be invisible?

I fucking noticed, this shit sucks.

Yep. It fucking sucks when you arent watching it on a screen or reading it in a book. Its only going to get worse.

This thing is fucking useless technologically speaking.

It's got fucking pre-sets he has to force digits into various positions, and he's got to somehow literally make macros essentially and only bind them to two muscle activators he uses in his arm.

Call me when they bind it to a neural interface of some sort.

I would replace my shitty failing eyeballs in a second.

Hell, i would rip them out myself if I could get free new robot eyeballs.

Nah, we're there.

We just have the depressing parts like mega corporations running the world and wealth disparity and none of the cool parts like cybernetic enhancements.

That's more dystopia than anything.

We're proto-cyberpunk.

What'll be interesting to see is third world nations skipping entire growth stages into our information age.

OP, you literally typed this sad excuse of a shitpost on a device so complex, that you don't even understand how it works.

We live in a mix of 1984 and Brave New World with a dash of what 80s cyberpunk authors dreamed about. The proles are busy with work, and any thoughts of real societal change drown in a torrent of stupid entertainment, propaganda disguised as news, and tiredness of mundane work that pays shit.
Of course life is not going to be as flashy as art. But the general meaning is there - we are interconnected with technology, and we are slaves to regime established by capitalism.

reeeeee lefty cuck
I agree

Doesn't count until cybernetic limbs are actually better than organic ones as opposed to being inferior, but better than nothing for those who've lost their natural limbs, and AI exists.

Fuck the legs. I want a brain augment.

What's the leg status?

"Cyberpunk" doesn't mean everyone is a fucking cyborg.

We literally live in a fucking cyberpunk world as I'm typing this. Collusion between media, governments and corporations, information warfare taking place online constantly, mass digital surveillance of fucking everyone, burgeoning mass replacement of hundreds of thousands of "lower class" jobs by automation, hackers disseminating government secrets and their leader arguably being assassinated for revealing a cabal of child molestors, predecessors to true learning AIs learning to think the wrong way and thus being "killed" by their creators, the ability to kill efficiently and indiscriminately with a joystick from half a world away in the form of drone strikes, alphabet agency backdoors built into essential computer hardware chipsets, tech conglomerates that monopolize the search engine market "creating context" out of an interest in having right-think data synthesis and aggregation by AI, I could go on and fucking on.

We are literally living in a cyberpunk world regardless of no fucking cyberization ala GITS or Deus Ex or whatever.

AND we DO have fucking robot arms anyway.

Most people are horrendously superficial. You gotta just let it wash off. Majority of people think Cyberpunk = Robo arms and mohawks

These are the people on the same level as steampunk fags. All aesthetic, no substance.

Why are 99% of cyberpunk settings distopian?

Post-cyberpunk is less so.

my legs are ok

Because the "punk" part of "cyberpunk" describes rebellion against authoritarian or somehow otherwise corrupt and very powerful regimes, which is a direct implication that the world would be a dystopia, being that such a rebellion is necessary.

I suppose a valid subversion of this might be a "dystopia" that is only a dystopia within the minds of those rebelling against the powers that be, in actually everything is peachy and things are in truth better than they've ever been, or something. Surely that's been done, and played straight in the sense that that's the author's intent and not just an interpretation. Then again maybe not.

New Deus Ex games are mediocre.

Mankind divided was a true disappointment.
Just get rid of the nignogs and itd be 20% better experience.

>Built-in botnet I won't be able to remove for the rest of my life
Sure, count me in!

I've spent the last 15~ hours fucking around exploring, looting, experimenting and doing all the side mission stuff I can, still have to go to the site of the train bombing, I'm that early in. I know that the game is essentially lacking an ending or whatever but will it really get that bad?

Someone give me a definitive list of cyberpunk games, I'm in the mood for it but played all Deus Ex.

When will Neo Cyberpunk be a thing?

Do you like Ghost in the Shell (Stand Alone Complex)? Because GITS for the PS2 is a pretty damn serviceable third person shooter/action game if you like the source material.

>AND we DO have fucking robot arms anyway.
But it's not something by choice, or something beneficial to improve quality of life. It's not even used in military applications yet. It's literally just for disabled people.

Played it, played the PS1 one too.

Join us in the Wired.

Try Shadowrun Hong Kong. I wasn't a fan of turn based games but the story really pulled me in.

you are living in a cyberpunk world
sorry it's not like your anime power fantasies, real life is a pile of rotting cocks

Prosthetics are so 70-80's

and on

I got out of the maze, is there anything more to this? I haven't seen Lain yet

I'll just be over here, playing shit in VR while high as fuck on designer drugs I ordered over the secret internet normalfags don't really understand

Sometimes I turn my lights blood red to worry the neighbors

>they actually think people would have healthy [s]limbs[/s] genitalia amputated just so they could [s]jump higher or punch harder[/s] be a grill
do you see how silly you sound now?
