Can we have a Freespace appreciation thread?
Just started a new playthrough with the latest source port which includes an amazing visual overhaul and shittons of custom missions, currently at the point where you have to destroy the hammer of light freighters.

I played through Freespace vanilla and got stopped by a game breaking bug in the last mission. Disappointed, never touched the franchise again.
Give it another chance, games like these aren't being made anymore.
Just get vanilla FS2 and download this installer, it updates the game for modern hardware and adds tons of cool shit, including the entire FS1 campaign in the modernized engine.

whos that angry terminator on the left
An alien cruiser.
my favorite space game was WC:Prophecy, i tried WC:Saga which was basically freespace2 mod and it just doesnt cut it for me.
>that old Sup Forumsspace server with the glorious voice acting
>no Freespace 3 ever ever
Who even owns the Freespace IP anyway? I just want to see what would have been a trilogy end properly.
Volition I assume, or Deep Silver.
Are you going for bonus objectives though? It's a short game so there's really no excuse not to do everything.
Of course, I also try to get as many Ace medals as possible.
It's quite nice how you get special medals for completeing those.
>yfw you'll never know what happened to Bosch
Until a FS3 actually comes out I'm just treating Blue Planet as FS3
FUCKING SAINTS ROW 4
That game was super fun.

This was almost a decade ago and I played FS on a CRT in 640x480. Little bit later I found out about the original Mass Effect and moved on.

Nowadays I'm busy with my 2000s and 2010s backlog already, don't have a machine to run FS2 on, don't have a 4:3 CRT and don't have a HOTAS anymore.
To be honest: Nobody does play-testing on user-modified campaigns, so I'm not going to risk my time doing that myself. I prefer vanilla gameplay.
The window of opportunity passed, not going to relive the 90s in 2017 again. I wish I knew about this game in 1999.
It was fun for an hour or two.
for you

You don't need anything of this though.
It plays fantastic with mouse nowadays.
But suit yourself.
>It plays fantastic with mouse
Not for me.
I'm not talking vanilla, don't even think it had native support, at least not FS1.
