bump

Galaxy 2 > Galaxy 1

...

Final Fantasy IX

What was wrong with Galaxy 2? 3-d world was redeemable for its co-op play, but not what I wanted in a 3-D Mario.

I'm sorry backlog, one day I'll get round to you

Nah

...

...

But Galaxy 2 is better

...

>completely gutted Mario's moveset from 64 and Sunshine
>"Mario in Space" is really just Mario hopping across tiny rocks with a space backdrop
>linear meteorite platforming connected by cutscene warps
>Mario has lost all methods of gaining momentum
>floaty controls result in completely unsatisfying platforming in this and its sequel when it poorly attempts to be a 2D platformer
>despite both games having similar issues when it comes to being dumbed down, Galaxy 2 provides significantly more level variety with less awful motion gimmicks
No.

>backlog

Bump it up. It's worth it.

...

>the killer app for the Xbox
wtf

also, halo 2 is better

Right

Wrong

Was never good to begin with

...

I sort of want to, but it's been so long since I played PM64 that I feel like I should re-play that first even though they're probably not hugely related.

>"Mario in Space" is really just Mario hopping across tiny rocks with a space backdrop
What the fuck else would it be?

2nd one was better.

Look at the stars on the letters. U R MR GAY

Holy shit tell your friends and remember to cite this post!!

Halo 2 is convenient store beef jerky to the thick, juicy, home cooked steak that is Halo 1.

here is a better pic showing the best game of kingdom hearts

If Bloodborne was a Souls game, I'd list that instead.

The Galaxy games needed more "fully developed" worlds like Honeyhive and Cosmic Cove and less pull star paths/linear waterways for mantas/launch star connected planetoids leading to a star, essentially being a glorified glittery flagpole. The problem is the massive reduction of alternate paths to reach objectives.

64 and Sunshine did larger worlds better, 3D Land and 3D World did isolated obstacle courses better. The Galaxy games are in an awkward transition phase where they are jack of all trades, master of none.

>last best
>a watered down Mario 64 in space with samey environments and boring worlds

>Complains about boring worlds
>posts Sunshine
el oh el

Although Prime 3 and Hunters are great games, I feel like Prime 2 was the last game that truly got the essence of what Metroid was.

This. Love the atmosphere in this game.

>tfw will never get an actual Banjo-Threeie after nearly 20 years
Holy shit Banjo-Tooie is going to be 20 in a couple years

U R MR GAY

Yeah no eat shit, sunshine is fucking garbage and the galaxy games excell at platforming above all else. Please fuck off with your "NOT MUH 64" meme

...

>sunshine is fucking garbage
It's far from the best, but it still does platforming in a relatively open area better than the dull railroad that is Galaxy.
>and the galaxy games excell at platforming above all else
No, they excel at pointless gimmicks being recycled multiple times. Sort of like FLUDD except that garbage let you at least control Mario like normal.

>>a watered down Mario 64 in space with samey environments and boring worlds
Remove the "in space" part and that's a perfect description of Sunshine.
Retard.

Sunshine isn't a bad game but it's easily the worst main mario game ever made which still puts it at about an 8. Anyone who says otherwise is just a faggot who had the unfortunate experience as sunshine being their first mario game.

neck yourself

FF 10
DMC 3
Megaman 9/x5
Halo 3
Re4

Spotted the 20 year old gamecube babby.

Halo 3's story was dogshit & its multiplayer was terrible. Slow as fuck & adding in that dogshit equipment system. Most of the weapon sandbox was useless. Every good map was a worse remake of Halo CE or 2. Campaign was fun tho

It's really not needed at all. Completely independent stories.

>multiplayer was terrible.

This is true and that battle rifle is a complete pile of shit unless you have host. Sad part is everyone always chooses H3 maps on the MC Collection.

Yes

By far too

Yeah, I'm totally with you on all of this. I really don't get why people will say that they prefer NES Mario over SNES Mario, yet also say that 64 isn't better than Galaxy. The way the levels actively lock you off from stars you didn't happen to choose instead of having you follow different routes yourself is just the icing on the cake.

>Less memorable galaxies
>Less memorable music
>Instead of using a new villain, they just made Bowser giant, starting a craze of over-using Bowser
>Instead of best pincess Rosalina, we get a purple Patrick Star who tells you to save your game and take a break after every mission
>The fake difficulty that is green stars
I don't think so.

>Less memorable galaxies

lol

I like 2 beter but it is true that the first has amazing OST

Most of what you said is right, but Bowser was always the go to villain of Mario games, there's one or two with DK or Wario but most use Bowser and have done since long before the wii.
Also Galazy 2 had slides making a reappearance which was great, road to bowser returning, an throwback galaxy.

1 had Ice Mario which was the best power-up out of the two games

Throwback Galaxy was just lazy.
I know Bowser is the go-too villain, but they could have gone with a different story at least to make it interesting. The excuse plot was lazy, even by Mario standard's sake. When I first saw the trailer for Galaxy 2, I thought it would be cool if the Shroobs from Partners in Time could be the villains and see how they would look in 3d.
Mario Galaxy 2 marked the point where the mainline Mario games started stagnating. 3D World was an improvement.
