The infected team are weak as piss on Versus mode. You're supposed to cooperate and pin all the survivors so they can't free eachother or use combos to kill one or two survivors very quickly. That's Versus mode's "thing".

i think the hunter is actually the quickest killer, but the game is more about breaking the survivor team up and pinning the survivors simultaneously than jumping on one survivor on your own and trying to kill them. once you're grabbed by a special infected, you can only be saved by another survivor.

I always just assumed the dog avoided the shot but is it the other dog turning that pushes him over?

I think what's happening is that when you're scoped the game thinks your coordinates are where the scope is zoomed, which is why the dog was able to leap that far: the game literally thought the dog was close enough to the guy to do the lunge attack. That's why it looks like it dodged the bullet. It started the lunge animation

back when l4d1 came out my friends and i did a little bit of comp, the real damage for the hunter comes from high jump pounces, the longer the distance of your pounce makes your pounce do more damage (longest takes away 70% of their health instantly)
